I've gotten tacos and tortas at this truck a few times now. It's my baseline taco comparison, pretty good taco and $2.50 so not cheap but not egregious. Go here if you want an OK taco. I sent my husband for some shrimp tacos with no onion and cilantro because I am allergic to those ingredients. He got home and it had both he went back and asked for it to be replaced with carne asada tacos of course with no onion and cilantro and when he got back home it had both again. Compared to other taco places, the quantity of meat seemed to be a bit less than others, but I was happy with the food nonetheless. Cabeza really good!! nice and tender. prolly my fav in the area. Tastes like more than just meat lol Al pastor idk cuz my fiance ate it all. he said he didn't like it (he was just hungry) Pollo pretty standard, wouldn't get it again as nothing about it really stood out. Trying chicken is nice cuz sometimes you don't feel porky/beefy/want something lighter! Tripas i did ask for extra crispy, but maybe the chef forgot. but this was a little on the gamey side, but nothing incredibly offensive. i liked the flavor and though it wasn't as clean as other places, id still get it again. My fav is still a truck in the neighborhood (super clean), but this was way better than tacos pronto (crispy, but not flavored well and just felt like eating meat) Carne asada quesadilla normally i ask for light cheese, but forgot.. this was a bit on tbe oily side. size wasn't too huge, the carne asada was better than others, but it wasn't dry. My fav carne asada is in sd, so hard to compare lol but this was enjoyable maybe cuz the cheese. Best OC taco truck hands down, a true hidden gem. Tacos El Catrin has been really consistent with their quality of food and service. My favorite is the Al pastor, Cabeza, carne asada, and tripa. The Al pastor taco is super flavorful, ask for a side of pineapple on the taco. A must get. The cabeza taco is tender and rich, melts right in your mouth. The carne asada taco is really beefy with a good bite to it. My favorite is the tripa taco. I always get the tripa here because not many places serve good tripa. Tip: Ask them to make the tripa extra crispy, you won't regret it. Tacos El Catrin is a true hidden gem. I've been trying to explore new taco spots, but I always come back to Tacos El Catrin. I'm gonna be honest, I grubhubbed the chorizo tacos and I was pretty disappointed. The taco had no flavor. The tortilla had more flavor than the chorizo did. The tortilla, cilantro and onions were good but the chorizo was just too bland. It wasn't dry, it just didn't taste like anything so it tasted like I was eating plain tortillas. Little hidden gem. Santa Ana is home to many taco trucks but this one is one of my new favorites. I'm here almost weekly and it never disappoints. Food comes out a bit slower than other trucks but I don't mind because it's served fresh and hot (call me crazy but I'm very particular about tacos being piping hot in temperature because that's what makes it taste best). Service is always good and all 3 of their salsas are yummy. I like mixing the green and avocado salsa. Shrimp taco: 4/5 I really like it but it's definitely something I like to share with another person because it's on the heavier side (comes with melted cheese) Tripa: 5/5 my all time favorite taco is a tripa taco and if it's not extra crispy it's not for me. El Catrin makes BOMB TRIPAS. I always ask for it extra crispy and it never disappoints. Cabeza: 5/5 it's fatty and delicious Carne asada: 5/5 amazing. I usually don't order carne asada at most taco spots because not that many places get it right. But the quality of beef they use for the carne asada is great here. The person that I interacted with at the truck was very nice. For me, the sauces didn't pack much of a kick, but I am a fan of tongue-burning spice. The flavor of the meat was pretty good, but not standout. We got the suadero, asada, pollo, chorizo and Al pastor. The tortillas were very run-of-the-mill, but not stale for example. The pollo was a little dry and seemed like it was reheated. Would stop by for a quick snack from these nice people, but wouldn't go out of my way to come back. Don't let the small amount of yelp reviews fool you! This place can get pretty busy on a Friday night. Definitely underrated taco trunk!! I love the tripas and suadero here, if you've never had either of them I definitely recommend ordering suadero instead of asada and tripas if you want something crispy and full of texture. I also really like the al pastor because the meat is so soft and the pineapples are always a plus. Their salsas are yummy and I love the creamy green one I just wish they were spicier. The only reason I'm giving this trunk 4 stars instead of five is because I wish they had handmade tortillas. Strawberry horchata isn't too sweet Anne doesn't have a strong cinnamon flavor, heads up it's only available Friday and Saturday's. Great tacos! We went on a whim because a friend told us about it and I really wanted strawberry horchata. It was excellent. I ordered chorizo tacos and asada. We also got a quesadilla and, of course, horchata. They have sauce cups and items to go if you ask because I need a ton of limes. The area looks a bit shady but totally worth it. The staff speaks both languages (a little insulted they thought I only spoke English, but I think it's fun to listen when people don't know I know). It was really good. I will be back again. Fully loaded french fries are soo good, think dirty fries like jack n the box used to have way back in the days or taco bell's fries only thicker topped with good stuff. It's hard to go wrong with any meat, choriqueso tacos are bomb(spicy meat sausage with melted cheese). Their tortas are very tasty and the bread is especially good. Try the shrimp tacos, they're made al gobernador style with a spicy creamy chimi-churi sauce, really spicy but really good. The al pastor is good, cooked on a flat top but with pineapple chunks added. When available, their strawberry horchata is very good. Not open on Wednesdays. This place is craveable. So there I was looking for a quick meal driving down Bristol, I thought I wanted tacos so I saw this new Taco truck, so I pulled up with my boys, at first glance the place looked clean and smelled delicious, which is like a breath of fresh air concidering that not many taco spots can boast of good food and hygene (usually one or the other but not both). So I went ahead and tried me the mulitas, a crafted tortilla with cheese, meet, more cheese and another tortilla on top, it was like an explosion of flavors, I immediately closed my eyes and was instantly transported to my child hood memories of street tacos in Mexico, when I finally opened them the owner offered me a free horchata water since it is their first week.
