Was skeptical of the total cost before seeing the portions which were generous and filling! Flavorful. Salsa is spicy!! Well worth a try

I come for the tortasogadas The Huaraches de barbacoa and gorditas de barbacoa consomé. Been here two this January . Had made gorditas en guarachas.

    Alambre ?

I was craving an alambre this afternoon. Why not go to a taco truck to support small businesses. I was very disappointed. Will not be coming back to this place. Workers don't even wear face masks. I've had it before but today my first plate I had was too salty . I called and asked if i could get it remade . I asked if I had to bring the food back . Which is probably a no because of COVID 19 but they wanted it back probably to make sure I wasn't trying to get free food ?. I took the food back anyway. They "remade the alambre" second plate wasn't salty but burnt on some parts the bell peppers are big chunks, there was barely any cheese and onions. If you get lucky the food will be "ok"

Off and on I make my taco run during my lunch breaks. Service can vary, it depends what time of the day of the week or year. Sometimes the truck breaks down or they move it in the residential area so stay put and make sure you drive into the recycling area. Be aware the salsa's are not really salsa's but more of a picante. The green one is the mildest the rest will kill all parasite's in your pancreas. The gorditas are usually bigger then my face and they are not shy with the servings especially the cheese! It will be a sloppy adventure! The tacos are street tortillas size tacos. That being said the tacos are small but you can enjoy fresh radishes and homemade pickled carrots. Those I consider my veggie intake. I have tried just about every dish on the menu and i have learned to take breaks during the year and only because the picante can kick my ass in the middle of the night. I have a nasty habit that my lips do not get burned but my small intestine will pay the price and that is usually in the middle of the night (LOL) The seasoning of the meats is "OK" but for the cheap deal your getting its pretty good. they only offer soda-pop and that is a bummer. They do NOT accept plastic only cash. (bummer) Another bummer is it is next to a recycling center so it gets stinky. Not all the times but sometimes. Phone call orders? Yes they do offer phone orders but sometimes they hangup. I was not rude but if they run super busy they can afford to hangup on you. Just being honest. I have seen them get slam busy especially during lunch time. So I get it besides it is a food truck.

So I haven't been here in a few years and the service has gone way down. I asked the woman taking my order how big the gorditas were and she showed me. I asked what they put inside the gorditas and she told me. She took my money, gave me a ticket, and turned around. I was just standing there for a second cause she didn't say anything but whatever. That wasn't a big deal, anyway, I asked if I can get cups so I can get salsa. Didn't acknowledge me and just continued with whatever she was doing. After when she was done she gave me 3 cups BUT with her bare fingers inside the cup. Come on! You work in the food service industry, you should know better than that. I noticed that she took a to-go order when I was ordering ... they decided that order needed to be done first before our order (2 chorizo gorditas) The reason I mention this is because we were LITERALLY the only people there. Lastly, even the cook had attitude. I'm over here flabbergasted with the situation and he's asking me about my order "well, that's why I asked you" Im sorry but don't you have a ticket that has my order? I called the number they have on their truck, sent straight to voicemail. Overall disappointing experience.

    Torta de cubana

Legit, yummy, spicy Mexican food. I wasn't sure about hitting up a food truck behind Stater bros. But once I got up close and saw the pictures of the food I was getting hungrier by the second. The boo and I had tacos (carnitas, asada, and barbacoa) and a torta de cubana. They give you little containers to get salsa and limes as you wait. Holy crap both the red and green pretty damn hot and I'm a pretty white washed Mexican so I gave up after my first bite. The cubana torta has its own salsa and peppers in it as well and it was delicious. It was pretty popular and we waited maybe ten minutes. It may have felt longer because they did have others outside the truck trying to sell other food or bootleg movies but we were planning to take the food home any way so I'm not about to lower my rating because of that. Two thumbs up, definitely recommend it.

The tacos are so delish. I wish I lived here. I would go back again and again. They make the tacos fresh so there is a wait. There was also a lone of people waiting which is always a good sign. They spoke a little bit of English so if you know Spanish it would help. But they do try to understand and communicate. I wish my Spanish was better. Totally worth the wait.

The photos caught our eye, but they don't even do justice to the actual experience. The modest facade completely hides the gem buried within; the moment you step through the doors, you are transported into a beautiful, vibrant atmosphere. Despite arriving just before 7:00 PM on a busy Saturday night, we were seated incredibly fast. We had the absolute pleasure of being served by Karla (with a 'K'). Her enthusiasm, attentiveness, and deep knowledge of the menu were top-notch--truly a model for how the entire service industry should operate. As for the food? Out of this world. From the presentation to the flavor, the attention to detail is flawless. It is completely clear that Rosa Madera was created by someone with immense vision and heart, and they've managed to find a staff that shares that exact same passion. We are so hooked that we will absolutely be making the trip back from San Diego with the sole purpose of eating here again. In the meantime, my friends and family are going to get sick of me over the next few days, because I refuse to shut up about this place!

Thanks to Restaurant Week, we stumbled upon this gem, and we are so grateful. The hospitality alone would earn five stars. But then came the food. The tacos? Absolutely exceptional. The steak was tender and flavorful in a way that reminded me of eating throughout Mexico, you could actually taste the meat. A light, gentle pickle of vegetables on top, minimal cheese, nothing heavy or greasy. These are not the American-style tacos drowning in a pound of melted cheese. These are the real thing. The beans were lovely, the rice was solid, and my passion fruit winearita drink was genuinely a treat. Restaurant Week gave us the perfect low-pressure reason to try somewhere new, and we walked out with a new favorite. We'll be back for lunch. We'll be back for dinner. And yes, Taco Tuesday, we'll absolutely be back for that.

To make matters worse, one of our meals was completely forgotten. The service was extremely slow throughout the entire visit. Every time we needed something, whether it was a refill, an update, or assistance, the wait felt excessive. The restaurant may have potential because the food itself was flavorful, but it seemed like they were either understaffed or unprepared for the number of customers they had. Another disappointment was the drink selection. We were told they don't have a liquor license, so hard alcohol isn't available. Their sodas were canned, and when we asked for juice for the kids, they told us they were completely out. As for the atmosphere, the restaurant is on the smaller side and felt more like a converted house than a traditional restaurant, complete with a fireplace and television in the dining area. The food had good flavor, which is the only reason I'm giving more than one star. Unfortunately, the long wait times, missing meal, lack of drink options, and poor service made the overall experience disappointing.

I arrived at 8:21 PM and was told that I couldn't order food or sit down to eat because they were already closed. I was confused because both Yelp and the sign literally posted outside the front door say they close at 9:00 PM. When I pointed that out, I was repeatedly told, "No, we close at 8." That simply doesn't make sense when your own posted business hours say otherwise. I completely understand that a kitchen may close 30 minutes before the restaurant itself closes. Had someone simply told me, "Sorry, we decided to close the kitchen early tonight," I honestly wouldn't have cared and probably wouldn't even be writing this review. Things happen. What bothered me was being repeatedly told that the restaurant closes at 8 PM when the sign directly outside says 9 PM. It felt less like a misunderstanding and more like I was being given an explanation that clearly didn't match the posted hours. If the restaurant actually closes at 8 PM, then the hours posted outside and online need to be updated. If the restaurant closes at 9 PM and the kitchen normally closes at 8:30, then I would have appreciated someone simply being upfront that they were closing early tonight. I've been a regular customer and have generally enjoyed coming here, so this was disappointing. Customers are usually much more understanding when you're simply honest with them rather than giving them an explanation that directly contradicts what's posted on your own front door.
