The OG Loaded Baked Potato with chicken, melted cheese, chopped red onion, sour cream, guacamole, and more.

I ordered the loaded baked potato OG and will return to try their queso taco! It was perfect for dinner. Their menu is al a carte.

Quite a good experience. Came to fix my car nearby and was super hungry. All the restaurants nearby didn't look appetizing at all not even remotely so I decided to try some Papi Tacos. Consome was served hot in a cup of - consome is basically a soup with some onions. It is mostly liquid with nothing in it so don't expect to get full with it. Quesadilla was the best part of the menu for me - plenty of meet, cheese and juice. A taco was quite small that in the beginning I thought that that wouldn't be enough for me to get full. Service was quite good - I was asked whether i need the food here or to go. And then they even asked my name. Small details but they matter. Place is clean and located at the gas station. Restrooms are available with the code that you have to ask the staff. Generally clean and pleasant. Thank you for having me

This is a standalone spot that's connected to a gas station. I had to take my car in for service nearby and thought getting some tacos would be a good idea, because tacos are always a good idea. I saw on the map that papi tacos was close and I remembered in the past that I came up with the name Papi Churro for a Churro spot. I think they should call it Papi Churros just to make it more catchy. Anyways, the burrito here was pretty good. It was fried and I've never had anything like that. It comes with a pretty large cup of consome which is like the juice and drippings from the beef. You have to eat with a fork. Quick service and the food was legit. Not much of a vibe here. Think gas station diner...mostly workers nearby getting lunch. I'm okay with that. I'd rather pay for the food rather than fancy decor.

I've had my eyes in this place for a while. But each time I wanna go they are closed. Meaning I wanna go late at night. If I'm being honest this would hit late at night. Anyways to the review. Must I say I went inside and it felt quite open. You can see them cooking which is always a plus. You can see their kitchen was nice and clean! Had some plenty of seating with high tables, regular tables and even benches!!! The menu was nice and simple and didn't feel overwhelmed. The cashier was nice and I asked if I can sample the agua de Sandia and I will say I loved it. It wasn't too sweet and seemed pretty fresh!!! I ordered the OG plate which had plenty of items. The console was hot so be warned of sipping it!! Everything was sooooo good. Probably the best Burris I've had in a fat minute. Everything was soooo good!!! My friend said she gave it a 9/10 since she forgot to ask for no onions but if it didn't she would've given it a perfect score. Anyways the food is soooooo good. Don't sleep on it. Next time I'll try the burrito!!!

yummy food and good prices! inside was nice with a good amount of seating. it threw me off a little since it's located in a gas station but don't let that deter you! menu is simple and everything is priced so well for what you're getting! got the og burrito with birria and it comes with a side of consome. the birria was super tender and not super fatty like places i've had before! my only complaint is that their red onion was cut into very large chunks inside the burrito, other than that it was a great size for the price! also got a side of beans and rice, beans were standard and the rice was super flavorful. i'll definitely be coming back to try the churros as well!!

Papi Tacos & Churros in Santa Ana absolutely hit the spot. I got the carne asada burrito 10/10, packed with flavor, juicy meat, and wrapped up in a perfectly warm tortilla. The pineapple agua fresca was also a 10/10 super refreshing, just the right balance of sweet and tangy. And then there was the birria quesadilla with consome... yup you guessed it also a 10/10. Rich, cheesy, crispy on the outside, and absolutely loaded inside. The portions here are huge and the prices are great. I usually have a pretty big appetite, but this meal put me in a full on food coma, I literally went home and took a nap right after. To top it off, I shared the quesadilla with my brother! Didn't even have room for one of their famous churros (next time for sure). Service is quick and very friendly, which makes the experience even better. The inside is modern and vibrant, with great music playing that adds to the energy of the place. Bonus: there's a gas station right next door where I grabbed a Mexican Coke because let's be honest, what's Mexican food without a Mexican Coke? This place is pure comfort food heaven, and I'm already planning my return trip.

Pollo asado burrito and birria quesadilla with consumé. Red and green salsa
    Jarryd E.

This place delivers from the first bite to the last sip. I ordered the pollo asado burrito and it was genuinely excellent. The chicken had a beautiful char and a deep smoky flavor that stood out immediately, far more pronounced than anywhere else I've had pollo asado. It tasted intentional, bold, and perfectly balanced. The birria was just as impressive. Rich, tender, and deeply flavorful, with a consommé so good my friend literally drank it straight. That alone should tell you everything you need to know. We planned on trying the churros but waved the white flag. Next time. The space itself has a great vibe. Clean, inviting, and thoughtfully designed, with a pop of red that adds warmth and personality without trying too hard. Service was smooth and friendly, exactly what you want when the food is doing this much of the talking. This is the kind of meal that lingers in your memory. Already looking forward to the return.

O.G. Plate. Birria Taco, birria quesataco, birria mulita and a birria quesadilla. With consume.
    Mike S.

I had the O.G. Plate. Birria Taco, birria quesataco, birria mulita and a birria quesadilla. With consume. (I swear the consume had a hint of mole in it. Yum) I also couldn't resist the churros with dulce de leche. So good. So sweet. Good price for what you get and the service was super. They also have carne asada, grilled with mesquite and pollo asado, smoked with mesquite. But the birria is why I came here. Cooked for 16 hours. Everything was super delicious and fresh. Even the red and green salsa was delicious. I'm nearby for work and will be back in a couple of days.

    Samah K.

I came here with my family to eat, and it did not disappoint! Food was great, we tried a little bit of everything on the menu. Their churros for dessert were especially amazing. Service was good, it's fast casual and this place is next to a gas station, but it was still super clean and overall an enjoyable experience.

    Christian U.

Papi tacos and churros doesn't look like much on the outside . It's right next to a gasoline station. The food price point is mid to high but the quality of their birria is on point that's what there known for .the ambiance is ok not bad but not great . The service to be honest fell short and that's the only reason why I'm giving them a 3 star rating . The workers there were dry and not very helpful . Seemed like they diddnt wanna be there which I get and understand but there's no way to give customers looks

I could eat here every day if I could. Papi Tacos & Churros has the best quesabirria tacos I have ever tasted in California. The consomé is fantastic, and the churros are just as impressive. Every bite of the tacos is filled with rich flavor, and the quality is always amazing whether I dine in, order through DoorDash, or pick up takeout. Takeout is always quick, easy, and packed with care, maintaining the same high quality as dining in. The restaurant is always very clean and well-kept, which makes the experience even better. The staff is kind and welcoming, always offering great recommendations. I will definitely continue coming weekly for these delicious tacos made with care and passion.

Decided to switch things up from our usual Pakistani/Indian spots and try something new. Came here on a friend's recommendation. It's a clean, welcoming little joint tucked inside a gas station -- don't let that fool you! We ordered the carne asada, birria beef taco, and quesadillas. Everything was packed with flavor, and the prices were super reasonable. Service was fast and friendly too. We also tried their tacos which they were making fresh , tasted oh so good. Definitely glad we gave it a shot! Best part it was halal !

Not really a fan of birria tacos but I actually really liked the birria here!! The quesataco was amazing !! The service here is really amazing, workers are really nice and helpful! The place is really spacious with lots of tables and chairs. Would definitely come back.

Ask the Community - Papi Tacos & Churros

Is there a Halal certificate posted?

It's posted on their website. The physical space has a clean look so their certificates of the restaurant in general are not in the front windows like other places.

    Do you do catering?

    Yes

Hi is the meat here halal?

All the meat here is halal, as it is at their other locations.

Is the entire menu zabiha halal? If so, is the meat hand or machine slaughtered?

The entire menu is certified zabiha halal. I'm unsure about the hand vs. machine slaughtering but the certification is personally enough for me.

A Legendary Slurp - Gone But Never Forgotten It is a true…read moretragedy for the Orange County food scene that Hakata Ikkousha in Costa Mesa has closed its doors. This wasn't just a "ramen joint"--it was a masterclass in authentic Fukuoka-style soul food. The Broth: Liquid Gold The standout was always their Signature Tonkotsu broth. You could literally taste the 30+ hours of labor that went into it. It had that distinct "frothy" texture (the bubble of the bone marrow) that you only find in high-end Hakata shops. It was rich, creamy, and carried a deep umami funk without ever being overly greasy. The Hits * Black Tonkotsu: The roasted garlic oil (mayu) added a smoky, dark complexity that ruined all other garlic ramens for me. * God Fire: For those who like to sweat, this offered the perfect balance of heat without sacrificing the integrity of the pork flavor. * The Karaage: Genuinely some of the best fried chicken in the area. Massive, juicy thigh meat with a shattering, thin crust and that addictive spicy mayo on the side. * Customization: I loved that they let you pick your noodle firmness. "Hard" was the only way to go to ensure that perfect snap with every bite. The Atmosphere The Costa Mesa location always had a great energy--functional, clean, and unpretentious. The staff were always efficient, greeting everyone with a loud "Irasshaimase!" that made the experience feel truly authentic. It's heartbreaking to see such a high-caliber spot leave the neighborhood. If you were lucky enough to eat here, you know we lost a heavy hitter. To the team at Ikkousha: thank you for the memories and the best bowls in the city. You'll be sorely missed! Note: For those still craving that specific broth, their Torrance locations are still holding it down--definitely worth the drive to keep the dream alive. Come back to OC! !

I inquired as to when we could expect to be seated and the staff was not able to give me an answer, only mentioning a large amount of to go orders. The server doesn't apologize - he states it's already been picked up. How? I ask if they don't verify the DoorDash confirmation for pickup. The server Kendrick tells me they do, but scammers show up with the exact order confirmation screen and pick up orders. Honestly sounds like BS to me, considering they have pickup orders by the front door on a shelf that anyone could take. Either way, the lack of an immediate apology or questions to clarify just point to the fact that he assumed immediately I was a scammer. Okay, annoying. But whatever. I want my food. I ask to have it remade - they're still seating people and people are ordering. They're not closing anytime soon. He tells me they won't remake it. I ask why and he continues to insinuate I'm a scammer and a thief trying to pick up someone else's order. He tells me to cancel my order. I'm beyond pissed at this point because I can't even get a refund via DoorDash because it's already being prepared. So I go back and talk to him again. He continues to refuse to cancel the order or remake it. He gets on the phone with a "Peter" who he claims is the manager. It gets really fun from here. Peter listens to my story and says there's nothing they can do. He says scammers do that all the time, and every restaurant deals with it. Okay, so how has it never happened to me at ANY restaurant? And how have I NEVER heard of it happening? So Peter, after refusing to do anything for me for a while, finally says he'll talk to the server to try and cancel the order from their end. Fine. I hand the phone back to Kendrick and he walks inside. I wait 7 min and no updates. So I go inside and ask him if he's canceling the order. He says, "what do you mean?" I tell him the manager said he'd tell him to cancel the order. Kendrick says, "he was telling you to do that". More gaslighting lmfaoooooo. I tell him no, he told you to. Again, I'm pissed beyond belief at this point and again, I can't get a refund via DoorDash because it's already "being prepared". You would think saying that 3 times is enough for them to finally get it but no. I wasted 20 min driving here, and another 25 waiting for a resolution for this BS. Kendrick tells me he can't cancel the order twice. I just ignore him and wait. 3 min later he goes "I canceled it". Like... you guys are acting like I'm the scammer when you clearly are the ones trying to pull some shady stuff. I FINALLY get my refund and Kendrick says, "sorry I just work here." Brother, that's not your line. You say that when, for example, corporate has a policy that no one likes. This all stemmed from you and your team's incompetence. The lying and gaslighting is absolutely crazy. 25 min and they either could've just refunded me or remade my order. A waste of time. I'll never visit any Slurpin again - this was just pathetic. Not a single bit of sincerity or willingness to help. The manager sounded like he was tired of talking to me, and our conversation lasted 2 min (I'm not even exaggerating). If you want food, don't go here. If you want to keep your money, don't come here. However, if you want to be treated like a liar and a scammer from the second you walk in, then this place is perfect.

Up above looked like either linen or burlap cloth that draped off the ceiling with some paper lantern lights. Modern chairs and hooks for purses under the tables. The menu is simple and not overly complicated. The wait staff was great. They were prompt, nice, patient and very attentive. What we ordered; 1) Tonkatsu Ramen - 5/5 stars. The broth was so tasty and really hit the spot. It came with chashu pork, green onions, bean sprouts, egg, spinach and seaweed. 2) Shoyu Ramen - 5/5 stars. I typically find that this broth isn't as flavorful, however, the shoyu ramen at HiroNori Craft Ramen, is well seasoned and the flavor was better than I expected and had in comparison to other places who offer this same meal. The shoyu came with chashu pork, green onions, spinach, kaiware sprouts, bamboo and an egg. 3) Spicy Cold Dipping Noodle - 5/5 stars. I recently ordered this at an event and loved it so much that I had to order another one to go when I came back. I didn't take photos of this one during my return because I did not want this review getting taken down and getting mistaken for the food I received at the event. This meal was very generous at least for me. It was served with chashu pork, spinach, sprouts, bamboo, and egg. The dipping sauce was in a separate bowl with ice to keep it cold, was made with a dashi broth and chili oil. Due to my excitement at the event, I did not notice until my second time, that this broth has a very slight numbing pepper...or at least it tasted like it. For me, it was mild. I do have a high spice tolerance so it was easy for me to miss. I noticed it mostly by the scent. 4) Salmon Poke Bowl (large) - I did not get to try this one. I can't speak to the flavor but I did taste the salad that you can eat with or separately from the poke bowl itself. The dressing was delicious! The large size gets you two scoops and you can see that under the avocado in my photo. The rice was super generous which might have been a bit much, but better to have enough than not. FYI, there is a 17% automatic gratuity or surcharge to your tab BUT you don't have to add tip. The price on your check is the price you pay. Not bad, just fyi. Overall, I was very happy with my experience at this restaurant. Great food made for a very pleasant dinner. Thank you.
