The tacos were delicious that I wish I can eat those every day and my taste buds wouldn't be tired. However, the tamale was not very soft to eat but otherwise the flavor was good. The salsa and topping options were great including the option of pico de Gallo. On the bright side, the service was relatively fast since I only had to wait a couple of minutes to get the food after ordering at the counter.

I'm a big fan of the original location on Southwest Boulevard, so I was excited to see the restaurant place it's second home in this Mission neighborhood. I'm a bit basic and mostly go with breakfast or tacos. It's not fancy, but it's a good solid meal served in filling portions. Some salsa from the condiment bar adds a little kick. The inside is small and can get cramped in a rush.

Tacos El Gallo has something to crow about - they have opened their 2nd location and first on the Kansas side. The gritty urban feel of their original is replaced with a sleek suburban stripmall feel - just the way Johnson County city planners insist. The ambiance may not be authentic, but the menu and recipes remain "muy autentico". My recent Saturday afternoon visit left me satiated with my trinity of barbacoa, asada, and pastor tacos topped with some pickled onions, spicy green sauce, and pico from the plentiful salsa table. For a few perfect moments I even forgot that I was in JOCO! Great stuff, great pricing. I also took home a 1/2 dozen tamales for my wife. She stated they were delicious, but I wouldn't know for sure since she ate all 6 within 2 days and refused to share.

El Mexican Plate (Before a Visit to the Toppings Bar)

I liked the first-rate service, the fairly reasonable prices and the good salsa heat options during my dine-in lunch at this new restaurant. The El Mexican plate ($9.99) was ready just five minutes after I ordered at the counter. It included three fresh, warm, double layer, 4.5" street tacos with generous amounts of my choice of nine protein options (shrimp and fish dishes are also available separately), along with rice, refried beans and access to a pretty good toppings bar with sour cream and several toppings and salsas of various heat levels from mild to salsa diabla. They did not offer complimentary chips & salsa. I found the staff to be cheerful, polite and professional, while the dining area was clean and basic. I also noticed the staff's focus on cleanliness during my visit - nice! The menu included breakfast, meals for the kiddos, aguas frescas, a soda dispenser, margaritas and various bottled beers. They also offered a patio area with music. Very nice!

Don't let the end of a strip mall and 4 indoor booths scare you! Outdoor seating is available and A LOT of traffic was to go orders. Food was fresh...street tacos were full...ordered asada carnitas and pastor...very good...wish barbacoa was an option...cold salsa bar was awesome!!!! Bought a bag of homemade tortilla chips to take home! Would definitely recommend

My favorite taco place in town. I love the El Mexican because I get the beans and rice on the side which are delicious as well. Fun patio area outside.

Our new favorite Mexican restaurant. Virtually no ambiance -- bright lights and sketchy picnic tables outside -- but the food is to die for.

It was a good midnight snack. I got the Barbacoa taco and shrimp taco. Both had tons of flavor, and two was plenty for dinner. The margaritas were excellent! Since you order at the counter, we didn't have a ton of experience with the staff, but everyone seemed friendly and the shop is well maintained We did eat inside, and there were definitely people outside, taking advantage of the patio

It gave an option for dining with a group of people or simply dining alone. We arrived around 1pm on a week day, so just after the lunch rush which was perfect. The food was made fresh, I've always wanted to try the barria taco but no one seems to offer anything but a beef option. And finally, I found a chicken one. It was Delish !! Now I couldn't dip in the au just because it was beef but I appreciate having the option. The Mexican rice was light and flavorful. The queso was good however it stiffened up pretty quickly, just in case you feel the anxiety of choosing between. Your appetizer and the main costs course. Over all, a great experience for a late afternoon lunch. Check out it when your craving tacos, I don't think you'll be disappointment.

The inside of the restaurant is classic industrial, cozy, super casual, and has a fun upbeat vibe. Everyone serving in the restaurant at all different levels is very kind and friendly. When we sat down, we were brought the typical basket of tortilla chips, along with their homemade salsa... And an extra surprise was there Mini bowl of queso dip. It was creamy and yummy. The salsa wasn't as spicy as we prefer, but it was decent. Our sever took our drink rider which were margaritas. They have a very long list of all types of flavors of margaritas... Are you in the mood, this is a place to go! They also offer three different sizes in the margaritas, plus a ton of other drinks as they have a very large bar. It was a Saturday night, so It was pretty crowded, but there was not a wait for a table. Our waitress brought back our margaritas, but it took her over 35 minutes to get to our table to even take our dinner order. At least they brought us three baskets of chips to hold us over! After a little over a half hour, she came back to our table and asked us if we were still waiting for our food... We explained to her that she never actually took our dinner order to begin with. We ordered street tacos and jalepeno cream cheese ans chicken enchiladas... black beans and rice. Everything was tasty. We were starving at this point because it was almost an hour when our food arrived. She apologized for forgetting about us in between the tables served before us... It was worth it... however, we will order for take out next time. Waiting at our table and having 30 min between a margarita and a meal was too long for our liking.

The service was pretty slow for a lazy Sunday afternoon where the restaurant wasn't very busy however the kitchen cranked our order out quickly. We ordered fish ceviche which was awesome, and the cauliflower appetizer which was not. Not at all. Taha was a pricey restaurant, so the service and all the food really should be great. We will try again in the future when perhaps, they work out some of the kinks.

We wanted to try lots of different things- so here is what we got: - Ceviche- 20000/10... we moved here from San Diego and this was better than any west coast ceviche we've had. They make a homemade "black sauce" that is to DIE for. It is served cold and they are generous with the meat portions. We got the trio (fish shrimp and octopus). - oysters- delicious - oyster Rockefeller- very good but Extremely cheesy. I like that with this type of oysters, but might be too much cheese for some. Amazing flavor. - queso- SO SO good. - ribeye tacos- thin sliced ribeye that was incredibly tender. Amazing flavors, some of the best tacos we've ever had - octopus tacos- UNREAL. Tender, not chewy, delicious sauces and toppings, 10/10 Our meal was $177- not the cheapest but the food, ambiance and service made it worth every penny. Overall we had an amazing experience and will absolutely be going back. Thank you to the staff and chefs!
