Lillys never disappoints. The food, decor, staff, and did I mention the food. My sat lunch date with my son every week.

Best Mexican food I've had in KC - and I'm usually the picky one! My partner and I came right before they got super busy, so we were lucky. They don't have that many tables so it can fill up quickly. Everyone was super friendly, and it really feels like a warm and friendly family run restaurant. Their chips and salsa were well flavored - beware with the hot one, it packs a punch :) we ordered the cousin Rob's plate so we could try a bit of everything, and we got some pork tamales. The cheese enchiladas with mole were HANDS DOWN THE BEST. I had to order an extra order of the enchilada at the end - and they were so nice to do that for me because they were already so busy, and when she brought it out she just knew we loved it :) I would take a bowl of that mole home if I could!! Their rice was also super well seasoned - I would get that again too. Chicken tacos were a little dry for me at first, but then I put some of their salsa and a lil leftover mole on it and it was perfect. Their pork tamales were well seasoned, and packed full of meat. Also went great with the mole. You just have to try the mole - because it's great with everything! The house marg was also super refreshing - I only had a few sips since I was driving, but yum!! We'll definitely be back. They were all so nice too even though they were busy.

Margarita...left over because it wasn't good.

I'm so disappointed to write this review since I was so excited to eat here after all of the amazing reviews. My husband and I came here for lunch today. I had high hopes. We started with the chips and salsa. I'm normally a mild flavor person, but the mild didn't have much flavor. The hot was more like a regular salsa. We also got the white cheese dip, which was decent. The margaritas were underwhelming. Neither one of us finished, but that says a lot for me! I had a beef enchilada and beef taco. The taco was pretty good. It didn't have much meat and there was a lack of seasoning in all of the ground beef. I don't mean taco seasoning, just salt and pepper. My husband had a ground beef burrito (same lack of seasoning in the meat), minus beans and a beef taco. We got two tacos to go for my son and he liked them. We won't be back, but wish them the best.

Stopped by Lilly's today after hearing a lot of good things! My wife heard they had puffy tacos so it was a done deal that we had to go. Nice little family owned spot in downtown KC. I love the area and the staff was so, so nice! Started off with the cheese dip, which was great! My wife ordered the puffy tacos and I ordered Jessy's Burrito spread with pork! The Burrito was smothered in the cheese dip, and the pork was so, so tender! I absolutely loved it. I didn't take pictures but my wife loved the puffy tacos! She gave me a bite and I will say they are worth a trip. We left stuffed and unfortunately had to leave a man behind as we couldn't finish our cheese dip. Everything was awesome though and we will be back!

A staff member, for lack of a better word, gave me the cold shoulder and said the kitchen was closed. My wife was still interested in getting some tacos, so I thought about where to go. This place came to mind. We had been there before and had a good experience, and when we got here, there were maybe about 15 minutes before the kitchen closed. I believe the person who said to us was also the manager, a really nice lady. She let us know that the kitchen was closing in about 15 minutes, but we were more than welcome to order and we'd be taken care of. Sure enough, we got a nice seat, good ambience, and a great waiter. They got us a seat, gave us some recommendations on the menu. I ended up ordering the Steak Quesadilla along with the complimentary chips and salsa with the three different types of salsa that they have. Came with that. My wife ended up ordering the Soft Shell Crab Tacos. I'll give the quesadilla a 4 out of 5. Great steak flavor, had some other grilled vegetables on the inside. Not as much cheese as I would like, but it had great flavor. The guacamole that came with it was pretty good. I loved the green salsa that came with the trio of salsas. I'm going to say it's tomatillo. I didn't ask. I'm not sure, but it tasted great. Good portion size, really good waitstaff. He took care of us. I was pleasantly taken care of on my side. My wife had the soft-shell crab tacos, nice and fresh, really big portion. She liked my quesadilla, so she went ahead and ordered her a plate of those as well. She only had about half the quesadilla portion. She had to take the other half to go. She did get a pineapple margarita, which she really enjoyed. She finished that completely. We really enjoyed the ambience of the restaurant. It was nice, and I enjoyed myself. The soft-shell crab was a four out of five for the taco. She was a little thrown by the fact that the shell was still on it, which was a whole thing that she laughed with the waiter about. I'll say that we'll definitely be back to try their brunch, which the manager invited us to. If you've never been to this restaurant, you should definitely give them a try.

The service was pretty slow for a lazy Sunday afternoon where the restaurant wasn't very busy however the kitchen cranked our order out quickly. We will try again in the future when perhaps, they work out some of the kinks.

The person who took my order was super involved, which is cool, but they needed some help, and the person who came by to help them seemed to be rather impatient, so that was one of the first things I noticed. They do bring your food out in a reasonable amount of time, delivered to your table. You have a number that attaches to a metal wand that they give to you. So the water station is set up in the back, you get your own water, but they were out of cups. They had a really cool aesthetic to it, with like the garage door where you can see all the downtown. The only problem was that the sun went down, and it started to get rather cold. Nobody ever closed the door, but I ordered the Asada fries. 3/5 heavy on the seasoning, but not so much on the flavor, it came across. It's kind of salty. I thought it would be different than what it was. The portion size was fine, and the green sauce that they offer you on the side really makes it better. Also ordered the CHORI queso dip lied on the chorizo for the portion size. The flavor was also a three out of five. The chip that they give you with it has a nice, good texture and reasonable seasoning. My wife had the mushroom Tinga tacos. She gave him four out of five. She really enjoyed them. The atmosphere is cool. The weights staff are really cool. I'd consider coming back on a Thursday. They have this cool thing that you can try new and upcoming dishes, and then they also have brunch, so I'm thinking about giving them a second shot. I wish I would've had more time to look around the market because it looked like they had a lot of good stuff but I'll have to go back and see. They do have tables inside that you can eat at. The food was done at the quoted time and was accurate. The one individual I encountered was friendly. The menu was very straightforward-tacos, burritos, and a few other items, all can be customized. I had to get an order of chips and queso. I really liked their queso. It had good flavor and wasn't overly spicy. The chips were fresh and held up to the queso nicely. I'm definitely probably alway going to order this when I go. I also tried a taco with carne asada. The tacos are the street variety but they are really good sized. They don't skimp on the meat. And the carne asada was really good. No gristle or gross bits. It was chopped finely and I'd definitely order it again. I also had to try a burrito. I tried the El pastor for that and added on all the toppings-cheese, sour cream, lettuce, tomato, and avocado. I also opted for extra meat because it was super cheap-like $1, so why not? Again, I was not disappointed. I did throw my burrito on the good 'ol George Foreman when I got home because they don't grill it at all and I wanted some grill marks on that tortilla. Otherwise, the el pastor was flavorful and tender and the toppings were all fresh. Per usual, my eyes were bigger than my stomach so I saved half of my burrito, but it was a welcome leftover meal the following day.
