Small hole in the wall that you would miss if you weren't looking for it. The inside was extremely clean, but also extremely small, with maybe 20 seats for you to choose from. Was greeted as soon as we walked in and there wasn't any pressure to order. There was 3 of us and we ordered the Beef Taco, a Taco Dinner, Chicken Tacos and the steak burrito dinner. All was tasty, but there was too much lettuce in the burrito and they didn't ask what you wanted in it. I would definitely go there again, but now know what comes with the orders and will make sure to customize the food for the party's liking. read more

This was our 1st time here. We stopped in to eat before my dentist appointment. It is a small place at the corner of a strip mall with about 4 tables and 15 chairs in all. There is a TV and a single bathroom( which is clean). The service was very good. You order at the counter. She was ready to help us as soon as we walked in and checked on us a couple of times while we were seated. (very attentive) The horchata is light with good flavor and not too sweet but a little pricey. We ordered a taco salad, 2 tacos and corn in a cup. We received chips and salsa at the table. Both were flavorful. The chips were warm and not greasy. The taco salad was a little sparse with the tomatoes (8 little chopped pieces) but good amount of lettuce and cheese. The meat was seasoned and also NOT greasy. Huge win there! Maybe the shell hides how much is really in there because it appeared, in my opinion, to be on the smaller side with the fillings. We tried the Gavilan tacos. These include steak, bacon and chorizo with onion and cilantro. I was expecting a greasy mess considering the meat combination. But, surprise!!! No grease :-) Totally winning me over and we didn't leave hungry. The grand finale was the corn in a cup. This hit the spot. It was just like buying it from the street vendor in the city. Stopped here on my way home from work and was pleasantly surprised. Tacos were good, great corn tortillas that did not fall apart. Rice, beans and guacamole were really good with lots of flavor. This place has been in the works for quite awhile, being remodeled after Hound Dogs had this location. So now that I see that it was open for business, I figured I would give a try. Walking into the place I see that they did a little remodeling, but it still has a little of the previous business look to it. I ordered my standard two Mexican food items to compare it to other restaurants. The price was a couple of dollars higher to the other places along Harlem Avenue. Also noticed that canned soda was $1.50 a can, which is way to costly for my tastes. With that being said, no fountain soda is available. I watched as the girl make my meal, I noticed that she almost used precise amounts of ingredients and they were on the small side to say the least. Where as most other taco places just slap it together and call it a day. The chicken I ordered was fairly good tasting, but the steak almost had no taste to it. And for the people who are the no carrying cash types, they accept credit cards here. read more

The steak in the steak tacos is so tender and marinated deliciously! The rice is so authentic and perfect on flavor. Beans are super tasty. Their chips are homemade. Their salsa is kept refrigerated until guests arrive which I always look for. And the salsa is a delicious flavor as well. Horchata is very good as well. Honestly found my new taco spot!! Today was my second time here and it's really good. I got the steak burrito , no rice with sour cream and avocado , I haven't had a burrito in a long time and it was one I will definitely go back for. The restaurant is clean and the cashier was very nice and friendly. The food was also ready quick!! It's at the end of the plaza so depending which way you are going out you can easily miss it if you're not looking for it. Try this place you won't be disappointed!!! read more

Good authentic Mexican! I ordered the usual when I try a New Mexican restaurant, a steak, al pastor, and chicken taco. As a bonus, I also ordered their Gavilan taco which has steak, chorizo, and bacon in the taco. I always order my tacos with cilantro and onion, the authentic way! All the tacos were really good. Their salsas, beans, and rice were also very good. I think I may have found my new favorite place for tacos. I agree with a previous reviewer, about time Palos! Can't wait to go back. read more

I went there on a Saturday to buy a couple of meals about ten in the morning. I walked in and the place looked closed. The young lady behind the counter said that they didn't open until 11. These are the best tacos I've ever had (the tacos I've had in San Diego and Ventura were good but these better). The shells are made at order and are great. We've had beef, chicken, steak, steak and potato, fish and al pastore. All excellent. The salsa verde is the best. The guacamole wonderfully flavored with cilantro.
