Tijuana is full of awesome and great places to eat, but by far this is one of the greatest taco places in Tijuana. Taco El Guero is a classic Mexican taco place and the prices are pretty cheap and you get sooo much for your money. Lunch was strolling around in Tijuana and was starting to get a little hungry and luckily I had a Tijuana local who knew all the amazing taco places. One of the first things I saw was the amazing meat being cut near the front of the restaurant, it smelled fantastic and the food tasted just as amazing. The prices are very decently priced, so don't be afraid to be a tacomaniac and go nuts and try everything. Everything is fantastic and delicious so if I could recommend a specific taco....try the lengua (cow tongue), and the cabeza (cow head). That was what I ordered. They are very meaty and even a bit smoky if you would like to call it that, but overall everything is fantastic. The tacos are prepared for you, so if you have an allergy or just don't want something in you taco don't be afraid to tell whoever is making your taco and they will probably remove what you want removed. Overall, if you are in a taco-y mood, be sure to try out Tacos El Guero! It's a must when in Tijuana. read more

I'd always been more of a burrito guy and never quite got the hype about tacos, but now I understand why. After getting off the plane for a business trip in San Diego I had an afternoon to kill, so like any good Americano I decided to hop the border to Tijuana. Having heard some not-so-savory stories about the place I brought nothing with me besides enough cash for a few meals and my passport, leaving even my phone behind. With no GPS navigation, I literally walked in a straight line along Avenida Revolucion until I stumbled upon an open taco place which seemed to have a decent number of people. Enter Tacos El Guero. The place doesn't look like much. In fact it looks more like a refurbished gas station convenience store than a place slinging up delicious tacos, but hey man, looks can be deceiving. I stepped up to the counter to order and quickly realized that my 4-years-of-latin-4-years-of-french-in-high-school-self knew about 10 total words in Spanish. No worries though. Being the glutton that I am, my fatass-self just rattled off "Uh Uno carnitas, um uno carne asada, uno cabeza, uno lingua..." ordering over half the menu. The lady at the register looks confused and started speaking to me in a long stream of Spanish, none of which I understood. Equally confused, I repeated the laundry list of items again because hey, second time's a charm right? She fired back at me with another long stream of Spanish, of which I caught a single word, "mañana". I finally realized that they wouldn't certain items until the day after, so shortened up my order and finally got my food. Let me tell you, these tacos were the best I've had in my life. To start, I'd always been put off by corn tortillas in the states, opting for flour when possible. But these corn tortillas were completely different- with none of the off-taste you sometimes find in the states, warm and toasty, and with the perfect structural integrity to hold up to the fillings inside. Each of the tacos were topped off with a generous amount of fresh avocado (none of that skimping you see at Chipotle), onions and cilantro. As for the meats themselves? Heavenly. Tried out the steak, chicken, al pastor and adobada and each were very well-seasoned, beautifully kissed with char from the grill and marvelously juicy. There are some moments in life when you're hit with big realizations, and for me this was one of them. All the Mexican food I had previous to this was a lie. This was the Truth, with a capital T. I went here on my last trip to TJ. Incredible! Best taco joint I've ever been to. I had a wide variety and they were all great. My favorite kind is pastor and these guys make the best. They also have a really good salsa bar that includes chiles toreados! I can't wait to go back. I had: Tripita (first time ever, so good!) suadero (also first time), cabeza (not my first time, but best ever!) pastor (this is a must) and then I went back and got more pastor and cabeza. I think I had 8-10 tacos and I can't wait to go again. I have a huge appetite, my father in law had 2 and was happy, they load them up so make sure you're hungry when you go. Good tacos, big, expensive though I thought, and they were not anything to write home about. One taco is 25 pesos or $1.36 Lengua tacos are 38 pesos or $2 dollars. The regular rate for tacos in mexico are 14 pesos or 76 cents. I can get get really good tacos in the U.S. for $1.25 why would I make the trip across the border for the same. When ever I come by and visit Tijuana, I like stopping here to grab a bite to eat. I usually order myself 2 - 3 Mulita, with Guacamole and Onion / Cilantro. (Mulita is basically a quesadilla with meat, with maíz tortilla, instead of flour) When you get here, there's no line, so you just ask them what you want and they will make it for you. You don't pay till after your done eating, that's how they get you to keep on eating but it's not that expensive either. When you order, the Guacamole, Onion/Cilantro and salsa come included with your order at no extra charge. I usually order a little bit extra with mines. read more

I came to TJ to eat good tacos, not sh*ty tacos! ALL the meats here suck! They have the worst chorizo (it's red even!), the asada was dry and might have been dog, and my mother was disgusted by the 'suadero.' I had good tacos here about 10 years ago, but would not recommend it. Have a quesadilla, they're good and cause they are is tortillas and cheese! read more

Best tacos ever. Al pastor (adobado) are to die for, but spicy. Order more than you think. Also try a quesadilla with a corn tortilla with al pastor. Basically they melt cheese in the taco first and then add the filling. Delish! And take some to go! read more

Literally, our number one stop in Mexico. Every time we cross the border we come and go through TJ just to eat the tacos. I always grab the al pastor tacos. They have a ton of flavor and minimal grease especially if you're comparing it to other taco shops in the area. I would request that they throw it on the grill before serving it up. Its common for them to shred it straight into the tortilla but I like that charred taste. You order as many as you like and pay at the end. Don't even try and skimp them they know, it's their profession. read more
