This place is a hidden gem, I'm glad I don't have to drive all the way to Kansas to get authentic Mexican Street Tacos. This place holds its own. My wife had the Gorditas and of course I had to take a bite and it was delicious, my tacos were also delish. They give you a red and green salsa, I liked the red one which is spicier. This little store is so cute and the people running it are super nice! We popped in on a Saturday and they had lovely fresh baked goods which we enjoyed when we got home. Next week we are going back for the tacos. It felt like a real authentic Latino experience visiting there! read more

Hole in the wall market/diner we had been missing out on! We tried the tongue and beef head street tacos, pork and beef gorditas (the beef is awesome) and a chicken tamale that was seriously delicious! Horrible! I went there because all the good reviews but just plain bad!! The green salsa that they gave me with my tacos was in a ziplock baggie!!! We thought we would try a local restaurant. The burritos were huge and I would consider it a great buy, if the food was good. My burrito was cold. Cold rice, cheese wasn't melted and beef was luke warm at best. The other burrito, shredded pork was so salty it couldn't be eaten. It was also lukewarm. Maybe we caught them on a bad night. Not your typical Mexican restaurant so don't expect salsa & a basket of chips when you sit down and the standard menu. Being going here for quite a while now. I tell everyone I know about it. The only true Mexican food in town and incredible flavors regardless of what you get. Love the tripe tacos and carnitas. Super nice staff. Go on the right day and you can get better and cheaper avocados than you will find in any grocery store around. No breakfast on the menu, but if you go in early and ask for a breakfast burrito, they will hook you up with whatever you want in it. Do it and you won't be sorry. Forget any other breakfast burrito around. Definitely my favorite place for true Mex! read more

I had the tacos al pastor, they were not so bad. The person I went with ordered the chicken burrito and did not like it. It had a big fat chunks of dark meat and was very chewy. And not alot of flavor. And to top it off no chips and salsa. I come from New Mexico and have high expectations of mom and pop mexican spots. This one just did not meet my expectations. I had the chicken mole dish. I heard them heating up the chicken on the skillet. Upon getting it, the chicken was very dry under the mole sauce. The mole sauce was good but I had much better. There were no sweet notes to the mole sauce at all. I will frequent this location to try other dishes but will not have the mole again. read more

I got the taco al pastor and the taco con chorizo. Both very good. The service was good, but if you're looking for atmosphere go elsewhere. It's basically a small mexican market with four tables. This is not a chips and salsa kind of place. I will certainly return to try the tortas! Overall a nice place to "hide" at lunch time. read more

Didn't know this place existed then a friend said something about it on Facebook. Stopped in for a quick bite on Saturday with the wife. Reminded me of a place that used to be up in North KC and then moved to Independence Avenue. Real street style tacos...just corn tortillas, meat, onions and cilantro. Red and green salsa on the table. I went with one pastor, one chorizo, and one lengue (beef tongue). Tacos were great. I love the small/cozy setting (very small grocery store with just a few tables). Sorry to say. This is going to be 5 out of 10. I was r 1st time there. It was just me and my adult son, it I is s small but big enough to walk around. I did fine and I' on a walker we waited en til @ 3:30 maybe closer to 4. Just a family of 3 was the only 1's I there. There is a an small mexican grocery. Great mexican cheeses. No one speaks English I don't speak Spanish so you couldn't ask any questions. Another disappointed no chips and no guacamole. Sorry to say just grabbed a take-out menu. The real menu has more choices. We had 3 tacos. 1 el pastor. 1 chicken and 1 pork. The el pastor was chopped so small couldn't see it let alone taste the beef. Toppings were fresh, not much else but cilantro but that's fine with me!! Tamales is what. I was wanting ok. Over steamed and very over crispy. Not good. Then we ordered a side of beans that weren't warm, they were cold not good. Rice was just ok.rice with tomato sauce. The biggest disapointent was an the 8.00 enchilida. Terrible!!! Again cold. Onions were raw and sliced. Not in pieces. Scattered with lettuce yuck! Sliced tomatoes and avacados. The inside was nothing. Maybe salsa. Chicken wasn't seen or tasted. Not much cheese but it being cold was the worse. After lunch server, owner, or daughter of the owner. Walked up to me and asked me if I wanted to try a tamale wrapped in a banana leaf I said, I would love to. Never have had 1. They were the best thing we'd had. Very soft, no hard corn husk not overed steamed or crispy don't seeing the, on the menu. Defintely worh asking @. In conclusion the cooler with all the cheese in it. Has individual containers of rice pudding f something I love but don't make it or buy it. It was Sooo good. Rich, creamy, sweet, and cinnamonny really enjoyed it read more
