I recently moved here from Southern California, so I've been browsing for a Mexican spot. I stumbled upon Tacos El Patron and decided to give it a try. I went with one of my safe options when trying out a new Mexican restaurant which is a bean and cheese burrito, which I ordered, and got 3 street tacos with carne asada as well. Starting with the positives, the green salsa had great flavor, and the carne asada was decent, not the best I've had, but certainly not bad. Unfortunately, the rest of the meal fell short for me. The bean and cheese burrito was made with whole beans instead of refried beans, which caught me off guard since I've always associated a traditional bean and cheese burrito with refried beans. It wasn't necessarily wrong, just not what I was expecting. One of my tacos also had the meat clumped together, almost as if it had been reheated in a microwave, which affected the texture and overall experience. Overall, everyone's tastes are different, so it's still worth trying for yourself. But having grown up eating Mexican food in Southern California, this one just wasn't for me, and I don't see myself returning. read more

I'm not sure why the restaurants at the krates are overpriced but I would gladly pay if the food was worth it. I tried this spot with high hopes but sadly they disappoint. We ordered a carne asada burrito, and there wasn't much meat or cheese and way too much rice. The tortilla they used however was great and I loved that it was grilled. I asked for salsa, but had to go back to ask for it. The burritos should just come with sauce regardless and maybe two per burrito because one thing of salsa was not enough. I also tried the horchata and it was decent but a little watered down. Service here is nothing special, not the friendliest. read more

If you're craving authentic street tacos, Tacos El Patron is definitely worth a visit. Located at The Grove in Wesley Chapel, this small taco spot offers a few indoor tables plus plenty of outdoor seating. I ordered the carne asada tacos with a Jarritos soda for around $18. Everything came out hot, fresh, and packed with flavor. The tacos really hit the spot on a hot summer day. While visiting The Krate, I checked out this taco spot because I was craving some good tacos. Overall, the food was pretty good! The chorizo taco was the best, super flavorful! Located inside the Krate container park. Inside seating has only two tables and one of these had two seats. Outside there are multiple tables, most with umbrellas. Good place to come during cooler weather. Very limited parking outside the restaurant so recommend parking in the big lot. Food: burritos, tacos (including fish), quesadillas are some of the limited menu items. Chips and salsa are NOT included so $3.50 for this. And the amount of salsa is not enough, so back inside for more and they provided additional for a couple of chips (see pic). Drinks: no water available besides bottled water @ $2.50. A mark up of 250% or more. One star off. Star off for the 3% surcharge on any credit card transactions. Most restaurants are charged 2-4% by their provider but include this in their pricing. This place should give a discount for cash since most people pay with credit cards in 2025. Time to join the digital age Tacos El Patrón. Eating here was about as much $ as some of the entrees at the nearby Outback that provides courtesy bread AND water. A very mediocre experience. read more

Just about everything could be improved. Not worth the $$$. Restaurant prices for mediocre tacos. Del Taco's fish and shrimp tacos are better. Looks like meat might be the better option here if you don't want to overpay for small dry tacos with old lettuce. Not authentic for fish and shrimp to have an excessive amount of chopped tomatoes and shredded LETTUCE! Yup not cabbage or a nice pico de gallo. $50 later for 9 tacos was a true disappointment. read more

I stopped by here the other day and was very pleased with my food. I order a chicken taco, two steak tacos, a side of guacamole and chips, and an order of churros. For starters, the steak tacos are my fav and will likely be my go to. They are a decent enough size for the price. 3 tacos filled me up nicely. The chicken taco, while good, just didn't hit like the steak tacos for me. Like I said, steak is my fav. The guacamole was not my favorite at all. The texture was much more like a sauce/topping versus a "chip and dip" situation. I prefer my guac to be a different texture. Perhaps if you want some to put on the tacos it's not so bad, but also, I didn't love the flavor either. The churros were pretty good. They have a filling inside the churros which caught me off guard but was a nice surprise because they don't come with sauce and I wanted some type of dipping sauce -- so to have the filling provides that gooey effect. I would definitely recommend this place. They are affordable and we're quick getting my food out. read more

I had been here once before for a take out order. A burrito for my husband .He absolutely loved it! I was there again today with my neighbor. We Both had the chicken taco salad which was amazing. My neighbor commented best taco salad she'd ever had. I took home an order the supreme chicken taco and an order of the supreme steak tacos for my husband and nephew and they said the same. I had the taco salad with chicken no rice no sour cream. Absolutely delicious but I wish that it had more lettuce and tomatoes since I opted out of the rice. It's Taco time! And boy am I glad it is! It's also time to try out the new taco place at The Krates that I've been excited to try! The owner greeted me at the door and was so friendly! Authentic menu and authentic tasting for sure! I order 2 chicken tacos supremes and am order of churros. I was pleasantly surprised when I bit into my warm and decadent churro to find a caramel center. Ooey gooey warm and tasty. There's outdoor seating or indoor where it's nice and cool. There's also several alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages to choose from. I ended up sitting outside in the shade and enjoying the atmosphere. It was a popular tacos restaurant as we had to wait in line for around 10 minutes before being greeted by the cashier Joanna. From the menu we ordered Fish Tacos and Taco Supreme with Rice & Beans. When I walked in I was greeted immediately. There were 3 guys cooking and one guy taking orders. From walk in to food in hand was less than five minutes. I got 3 tacos and churros. I tried the carne asada, pollo, and carnitas. The tacos were full of flavor and did not get soggy. The churros were crisp and had a dulce de leche filling but it wasn't overwhelming like some can be. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal from here! I came here on a Sunday and was able to head straight to the counter to order. I ordered a chicken quesadilla and my fiancé ordered fish tacos. We also noticed they had Mexican drinks available- like Coca-Cola. We made great timing because as we waited for our food, about 10 more people popped in to order. I was very impressed with the size of the portions. I couldn't finish my quesadilla as it was very filling. Only thing I didn't like was that it was very oily and I had to get more napkins. DELICIOUS tacos and sopes!! Wait time sucks on the weekends because they're so busy, but otherwise, we will definitely be back! The tacos were wonderfully spiced with just enough protein with fresh cilantro and onions. The sopes are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Their elotes are some of the best I've had! A lot of places is just watery corn and mayo because they don't even bother straining the corn. Not here. Order it all. You won't be disappointed. They delivered even on a very busy day. read more

First time going to the Krate stores and this was one of the places I wanted to visit. Got three Fish tacos and one Pollo and they were fresh and hot. I also had the Agua Fresca Jamaica drink which was really good. Very limited seating but that's what I've heard about Krate but I still got a seat. read more

I had to give a 3 star review because after waiting almost 20 minutes, they got our order wrong. This is definitely not the place to bring a big party of people, seating is limited, as with all of these new little stores found at the Krate. We got the taco salad, which was good, but we ordered it with no tomatoes and sour cream and unfortunately they didn't get it right. They also don't offer any kind of ground beef as a meat choice, which I thought was strange... Besides that the food had good flavor, I really liked the shell the taco salad came in... eventually I will probably come back and give this place another shot because their prices are decent. There's a limited selection of drinks- bottled water, beer, soda, and some bottled jarritos but nothing that offers a refill. Definitely worth a try! Just ate here and had an excellent experience. We ordered al pastor tacos, I'd say these are by far the best in the area. We also had yummy carnitas tacos and a delicious tamale. They have some bottled beer and sangria options in the fridge as well. Service was excellent, food was yummy, price was right, air conditioning was plentiful, what more can we ask for? We had tacos: asada, pastor, carnitas, and add'l pastor and asada made "supreme" (includes lettuce, tomato, creme cheese) they were not bad, but nothing special. We'd rather just go to our local taqueria or mexican restaurant than to drive out here. It was Saturday lunch time and they seemed overwhelmed and disorganized. Took awhile to get our food but staff are nice. Not sure how long they've been open but it had been earlier in the year. Great if you're in the area and not in a rush. read more

I called and was put on hold for 10 minutes. The girl kept taking orders ahead of me. Instead of attending to me while people who came in after I called, she made the excuse about servicing them first. I then decided to go in person and she had the nerve to pick up a call while I was ordering and tried to take the phone order. Very much a double standard and since I'm a minority with an accept I can't help but feel discrimination. Will not be returning, their prices aren't worth the quality and service of the staff. The workers here were very kind. Service was good. I was surprised when I came here on a Tuesday that they do not have any kind of taco Tuesday deal. I got four tacos, which were about $3 each. The food was great! My only complaint is the Horchata is not authentic. I think if this place had some type of taco Tuesday deal, they would get more business, considering it is one of the best taco places in the area.
