    Absolutely jaw dropping art!

What a fun, beautiful, and absolutely delicious restaurant. The menu is extensive, the tacos are amazing and filled with meat. The service is outstanding and the atmosphere is beyond incredible. The only con - Tito's and soda water is a whopping $13.50. The birthday celebrations are fun and exciting - must go!!!

First time trying this Mexican place and it caught me by surprise! The menu is extensive and the atmosphere is fun and vibey. Go hungry as the portions are generous and fit for sharing. I've got the stone pot El Dorado which has a whole fish alone with seafood mixes, and it was delicious. The table side fresh guacamole is a must with their non stop chips and salsa. If you enjoy a margarita, get the jumbo and you will not be disappointed. Highly recommend!

This food was delicious. We even got non alcoholic horchatas for our beverage. The food had such great flavor. They serve hot chips and salsa when you get seated. The waiter took our order and the food was ready pretty quick. He was a really good waiter. The decorations are day of the dead. The murals on the wall were beautiful. This was worth the visit. Will be visiting again soon.

Wow! How much fun is this adorable Mexican joint?! I never knew this place existed so I'm super glad that my aunt picked it out as a treat for my birthday. The way they celebrate birthdays makes me want to come here every year! First off, the menu is HUGE. Lots of food options - even sushi! I actually think I saw pasta on their menu too. I had a medium mango margarita on the rocks (which turned out to be a gigantic drink). We ordered the queso with the complimentary chips which was so good it almost completely ruined my appetite. For my meal, I ordered the chicken chimichangas. My only complaint about this dish was that the chimichangas were not really deep fried. They did come smothered in their delicious cheese sauce, but they were more like burritos than chimichangas to me. My aunt had the steak which was presented beautifully with a bell pepper cut into the shape of a flower. Service was solid. Our server was super nice and attentive to our needs. The best part of our visit was the animated birthday song with sparklers, and complimentary tequila shot (video attached). You MUST visit this Mexican place, stat.

Our first time, Saturday evening, 1/24/2026. Crowded, but found 2 seats at the bar. Ordered ribeye tacos that were good. The only downside is the constant birthday celebrations (they don't verify with an ID) - must have been 10+ in the span of an hour. LOUD music with a large sugar skull mask on the lead person (scary to children?) Everyone near us came to dread the celebrations as we, along with others started saying, "oh no not again"... had been eager to try this new spot. May not be so quick to go back.

Plaza Tapatia is a fiesta for the senses--bold flavors, lively atmosphere, and warm hospitality all in one stop. The birria tacos were absolutely spot on, juicy, flavorful, and served with a decline consommé that I could happily drink by the cup. The tableside guacamole was another star--fresh, zesty, and customized right in front of you. You can taste the difference when it's made this fresh. Service was friendly and quick, and the menu has plenty of variety for every taste. Definitely a great spot for groups or family dinners.

Pros: Wonderful Day of the Dead art/murals all around and even on chairs. A large interior dining space. Open 7 days a week up to 10 pm The parking lot is adequate. Great and quick service from everyone Strong and large alcoholic drink menu. My frozen Mango Margarita was great. You can even customize what type of rim seasoning With sugar, salt,or spicy 9/10 There is a very large menu with almost all type of protein choices and customizable elements. The free Chips were warm and crispy and the salsa was a good medium consistency with a homemade flavor. Prices range from $20-$70 on average for entrees. Very large portions. I was a bit taken back by prices. This is not a simple cafe or take out place but the portions are large. There was a place in Armature Works that sells a Godzilla Burrito but this restaurant steals the crown lol Cons: I ordered the California burrito as that was one of the cheaper options and I was dining alone. It had carne asada steak, French fries, guacamole so it was accurate. However, there was no seasoning on the beef and it tasted bland. The other ingredients were fresh and the fries were crispy. It was too big to finish so I took it home. I've had better at Los Chapos and 1/2 places outside of Tampa. 7/10 The prices are higher than average for a Mexican restaurant so I would advise going with a group and ordering different items and sharing. It has a slightly raucous atmosphere like Texas Roadhouse so it isn't the best for an intimate date imo. I almost gave a 5/5 ,but the main entree has to be great to earn that despite all the ancillary elements being great. 4/5

As always, this restaurant is amazing! Their food alone does it for me, but the atmosphere is amazing and they do a special for you on your actual birthday. Love this place in the service is always good. I highly recommend it.

This place is alright. Coming into the restaurant, it was beautiful. I loved everything about the decor. The chips and salsa were on point and that's hard to find in Florida but the food wasn't worth the price and we waited longer than the people next to us that got there before us and our food was cold. This is why I'm giving this place 3 stars. My dish was good, I ordered the three tacos and got Al pastor. I mean, how can you mess up tacos. But I was a little annoyed that I couldn't mix up the tacos with different meats for each taco. Never makes sense when a restaurant won't allow that when it costs the same no matter which meat option you choose. My bf ordered the carne asada with the chile relleno and eh that steak was dry and tiny .. not a real carne asada either because they use rib eye.. his relleno was just filled with flour , barely any of the chile ... the enchilada was good but cold , so it could have been way better if it was hot and the cheese melted. The margarita I ordered was ok, was not too flavorful but it did give me a good buzz. And one of us got the trash can beverage and he did not like it, there was too much sour mix in it.

AMAZING! It's hands down my FAV Mexican restaurant by far. We've been here 2x now and both have been excellent! Food tastes fresh and delicious. They have an extensive selection even including vegetarian options which I loved! Their drinks are also REALLY good. I've had the regular margaritas and most recently the sangria margarita. I think the sangria margarita is now my fav and what I'll be ordering every time. Only next time I'll get the small and not medium. Medium is HUGE and they don't hold back on the liquor so this mama was feeling gooooodddd lol. So good that I went home and went to bed. Slept like a baby lol. I've had their vegetarian bean and cheese enchiladas and love them. That my go to for my meal here just because it's so good. Hubs loves their fajitas and has gotten both times. Their chips and salsa are delicious and they even have a cart that goes around the restaurant where they make fresh guac! This place is very busy. Every time we've come it's been busy. Staff is friendly. A must try!!

My two friends and I came here for dinner on a Sunday late afternoon and we were really pleased! The inside decor is so cute and the service was excellent. Our food portions were also really generous and delicious. Be warned, the menu is huge so if you're indecisive, you may want to check out the menu beforehand online. We are also giving complementary chips and salsa, which was really good too. To our surprise, they also had a very good and professional mariachi band played throughout the restaurant for about 30 minutes. They were also several birthdays being celebrated, and it was cool to see the effort being put into making it a special moment for each person. I would definitely return!

Came here with my parents as this is their favorite Mexican restaurant in Lutz area. We arrived and they already had started on a table side Guacamole- delicious! The mini Chimi and Potato appetizers were our entres- plenty for lunch! The Corn was the best we ever had and the Birria and Steak Tacos were amazing! Mike was our server, he was super friendly and attentive. The restaurant is in a small plaza off Florida Ave- unassuming on the outside but on the inside it was so festive!!! Beautifully decorated and the birthday celebrations we witnessed were loud and lively! I can absolutely understand why my parents love this place!

Dia de las muertasI I'm not sure who did these walls, but looks like Chihuly did the lights! They certainly fix this place up nice place mariachi band two nights a week Huge menu Part of another mexican joint in Zephyhills area with really good mocajete (sp??) So we came here 2 days this particular weekend and happy to devour the mini chimis (get the cheese sauce on the side) elote, table side guac, birria pizza (really really good, think birria quesadillas but cut like a pizza pie) Queso fundido was most meat, served in a sizzling bowl Service was nice Bogo Rita's on happy hour House Rita is nice, light not too sugar, not too sour and not weak! We will be back Hopefully this place makes it

Let me clarify first, our waiter deserves 5 stars and he was great…read more CHUY's: a Pathetic attempt at Mexican food The food is a 1 star though. Honestly, hands down the worst attempt at Mexican food I've ever had. This place honestly is a disgrace to Mexican food. The salsa was pathetic, no flavor and tasted like plain tomatoes. The second "salsa" we were told is a house favorite. It was literally a cold tomatillo ranch, gross. I got 2 ground beef enchiladas with Tex mex and a chili relleno. The enchiladas were not good but were also not the worst thing ever. The chili relleno however, tasted like a frozen pack of TGI Fridays mozzarella sticks from the store. No joke, you could taste the freezer burn on them. The beans were watery and had no flavor. The rice, you could easily tell has been sitting in a fridge at least over night. It was dry, hard, and also had no flavor. It amazes me these restaurant owners want to have a successful business, but insist on cutting corners and not making fresh food. Your food sucks and I won't be back. I wouldn't even let my dogs eat this food. Harsh huh? Simple solution, make your own food. If you want a successful restaurant, make your own tortillas, cook your own beef, make your sauce fresh everyday, shred fresh cheese, STOP CUTTING CORNERS. Any person with a good palette can clearly tell everything has either been sitting in a freezer or a fridge over night. The ambiance is also quirky and I'm not sure what themes they're going with. Woods, bricks, dogs on the wall, 90's color schemes, it's just not it. It takes me 5 minutes to make great food at home, I'll never understand why restaurants can't do the same. This is the type of place you see on a Gordon Ramsay show that he tries to save. My taste buds will never forgive me for eating here, don't make the same mistake.
