I really enjoy going to Vallarta's Mexican Restaurant. From the moment you sit down, they don't waste any time, chips and salsa hit the table within seconds, and your beer is right behind it. The staff is consistently quick, friendly, and on top of everything, which makes the whole experience easy and enjoyable. The menu is what you'd expect from a solid Mexican spot, familiar ingredients done well in a variety of ways. I always go with the #18 (1 burrito, 1 taco, rice, and beans), and it's the perfect portion. Every time, I leave completely stuffed. One of the highlights is when the mariachi band comes around. I once asked for "Rocky Top," and they absolutely nailed it, somehow blending that bluegrass vibe with a Latin twist. It was one of those moments that just makes the night more fun. The only downside, and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5, is the restrooms. They don't quite match the cleanliness and attention you see in the rest of the restaurant and could definitely use more consistent upkeep. Overall, it's a great go-to spot with fast service, good food, and a fun atmosphere. I'll definitely keep coming back. read more

Decided to try this place again and I'm not sure why we thought it was a good idea as this time was worst than the first time. I'm not sure where in Mexico the food here is inspired from but when you ask for a chile relleno here just know that you will get a plate of queso with a small piece of a green chile in the center. We were so confused! And then he brought out an actual chile relleno (just one when both of us had ordered one ) and told us that was the poblano.. I'm also not sure if the was miscommunication with my enchilada , but I asked for a cheese enchilada and received a beef enchilada covered in queso which was gross , no enchilada sauce. My bfs enchilada had the sauce but no cheese... we had both ordered the combo and it didn't even come with rice and beans as a normal place would serve it. And to top things off, the salsa here had a taste of like dirty dishes, it sucked because the first time we came here I did like the salsa for being a bland one it was decent. Undoubtedly the best restaurant for Cinco de Mayo in Wesley Chapel. They had live music and an outside bar to accommodate the crowds. I've been here 3 times now and can you tell by my photos what I get every time? Street tacos, yes. They're so perfect every dang time! Chicken is superior. Margaritas delish. Service was great the first two times, but this last time he never came to check on us and we were out of water before we got halfway through with food. Not cool. I'll be back though. The taco seemed to be premade and the shell was very soggy. My partner got the steak burrito and was very bland no seasoning. And the sauce on top was watery which made the burrito gross. Street tacos taste like atmosphere (air with no seasoning). Not only was the carne asada meat not seasoned (or salted), the meat was so overcooked or old that I dropped a piece out of the taco and it sounded like a skittle hitting the ground. Also their birria tacos tasted absolutely not worth the calories. The tacos themselves were the same unseasoned carne asada meat with onions and cilantro in a flour tortilla. The problem is there is no cheese and the "oil" as they called it tastes like cilantro flavored salt water. The customer service was awesome and the environment was friendly. The food unfortunately just tastes unseasoned and old or overcooked. I'm so sorry to the business owners but stuff won't change if customers aren't honest. read more

Vallartas had been our go to for 12 years, but the food and service has gone down hill. No longer the area Mex stronghold and will likely continue to decline until it closes. Will start going to Plaza de Mexico...it is a bit more expensive, but at least you get good service with consistent good food. read more

Was very pleasantly surprised. I was expecting chain quality and got some of the best tacos in my immediate area. Street tacos were a really good deal. Also got a large margarita which lasted my whole meal. Definitely poured strong which was nice. Will 100% be back. The chips and salsa was also fire. I could go just for chips and salsa. read more

I'm a new resident to Wesley Chapel and has been exploring restaurants and bars in the area so I could take my friends and family when they come to visit me. Vallartas is number ONE on my list. I moved here two weeks ago and have been to Vallartas twice already. They make the most delicious Mexican food I have eaten in a restaurant here in Tampa. The portions are Huge from the Ceviche to the Papas Locas; these are appetizers but big enough to eat two people. The chef really deserves recognition for his art of making food. The Taco salad and the Burrito are really good . The MARGARITAS are simply the best and the 32 once glass is enough for those with low tolerance, off course i need two, lol. They are perfectly made with a kick. The food is freshly made and delicious The art deco is very traditional and well designed that you feel that you are in Puerto Vallarta. Since they make amazing food and great Margaritas there is always a line and wait time especially for dinner and on the weekends is approximately 25-40minutes. I suggest to make reservations or get there before dinner time. A must go to restaurant! read more

I've been a Vallarta's girl since the 90s. I used to live near the one in Temple Terrace, have a good friend who lives near the one in Carrollwood and used to go to the former location near the AMC Veterans movie theater quite a bit. But in all my years in the Bay Area, for some reason, this was only my second time here. It's in a strip mall, just east of I-75 along SR 54. (Very easy to get to off the interstate) There are several tables set up out front. Inside, it's divided into three sections-one of them includes the big bar. Each Vallartas is a little different but the decor, fab murals and menu is basically the same. I went for the three beef tacos off the a la carte menu (6.99) and a cheese quesadilla. After all these years (25+), all the food sort of tastes like home to me. It's consistently good and the service is fast. Even though I was running errands, I couldn't come here and not have a margarita. The one in the picture is a small, my friends. They do it up right! You should see the "monster" sized! (And yes, that's their name for it) To me, Vallartas is cozy and fun. The menu is large, prices are very reasonable, the happy hour is long (I think 2 to 7, but double check me on that) and there's tons of parking. I'm intrigued with a) the giant chair by the door for photo opps and b) the big bar. I'll grab the gang next time, investigate both, closely and let you know. read more

Walked in at 2:45 Monday (after therapy next door... stopped in at least once a week for 4 months... not great service, but ok for fast food!) . Not a soul in the place!!! Host JUST sat us! NOT ONE WORD!! He immediately walk back to his host stand. 5 mins later... I stand and ask host for service. "Your server will be with you shortly." 3 mins later I stand and ask host for service. He repeated exactly. I said "we are the ONLY people here. We're ready to order.No chips, no water, no nothing, not even a hello!" He comes bolting over and says, "WHAT DO YOU WANT TO ORDER?" i sat with my mouth open (at his hostility), and then "he blurts out, "YOU NEED TO RELAX LADY! CALM DOWN!!!" My husband, Mr. LOPEZ, stood up and said "Enough...you wont talk to my wife like that!!!" We started to walk out as he is still hollering "YOU NEED SERIOUS HELP LADY!" I turned around to say to a young man walking from their 2nd room, who is the manager here??? HE SHEEPISHLY POINTED TO THE "HOST" WHO WAS YELLING AT ME!!! THIS WAS THE MANAGER!!! REALLY!!! You JUST lost a "LOPEZ" family of 16 plus... plus grandbabies. WE WILL NEVER BE BACK!!! NOR WILL I EVER SAY A GOOD THING ABOUT YOU!!! I was so upset, I sent a message to the owner. We visited on a our way out of state, looking for a quick delicious dinner near I-75 and found this obvious local gem. In a strip mall environment, with several food options, this place was full with big groups enjoying a Mexican meal on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. While we waited to be seated, quickly observed several orders being picked up for take out dining. Plenty of servers, plenty of tables and booths, and three dining areas make it feel cozy and yet comfortable. Tables and walls are brightly decorated but what captured our attention was the smells of the food. WOW! Servers passed us with arms full of hot dishes that smelled amazing. Seasoning is the key here. The menu is extensive and you will definitely find something that captures your appetite. Prices are budget friendly too! On this Wednesday dinner, tacos beef and chicken were $1.00. Personally, I went with the Pastor Quesadilla wanting to eat seasoned pork and the desire to use a knife and fork. I really didn't want to get my fingers messy, my server recommended this dish. Excellent choice. The pork was presented in a warm tortilla with cheese, and on the side was a heap of fresh shredded lettuce, a generous scoop of sour cream, guacamole and chopped tomatoes. The pork was chopped into small cubes and there was plenty to enjoy of it too. My husband got the steak quesadilla and that looked completely different than mine. His had two tortillas and only came with the quesadilla. This was a messy cheesy quesadilla and the steak was not seasoned. Actually it looked rather dry. So not our favorite, hence the 4 stars. The service was friendly, helpful and quick. We were seated, ordered, ate and paid in about 45 minutes. Great for when you are hungry, on the road, and do not want fast food junk. Man I can't get over the street tacos. I've been coming to this place for 2 years now and I can't help but always get the chorizo and queso and the street tacos. Anytime my buddy and I say Mexican or tacos this is the place we crave and we both get the same thing every time. Maybe one day I will venture off to other items. But they always say if it ain't broke don't fix it. Oh and how can I forget the endless chips and salsa! I am a Mexican from Chicago and moved here recently. I thought I would try this place out despite the reviews. We order guacamole to start. It did not taste like real guacamole, where were the chunk's of avocado? This seemed processed to me. And the flavor was not what I'm used to. I ordered the steak taco dinner which was flavorless. One lunch plate was a burrito, a tamale, & an enchilada -- they all had exactly the same unappetizing hamburger filling, with tasteless cheese & some kind of red sauce. Not a veg in sight. The two carne asada tacos were the same: some stringy chopped beef, in a tortilla. Nothing else. Served with a small bowl of (allegedly) pico de gallo swimming in sour cream. The accompanying refried beens were lukewarm with a glutinous dollop of some kind of cheese on top. I asked for light ice in the horchata, but when it arrived at least 1/4 of the glass was ice. And although I like cinnamon, there was too much of it in the drink, which was also extremely sweet. Ugh. read more
