So I had to go to my ole reliable restaurant for tacos. I arrived without a reservation on a Saturday early evening, and was able to sit in the bar. The bartender told me about their popular drink options, an explained their home made margaritas. I did their regular margarita on the rocks (about 13 or 14 dollars), which they freshly squeezed the citruses to a juice, then added the tequila and other ingredients. It tasted fresh, refreshing, and just had the right amount of tequila to fiesta. For the tacos, I chose the chicken verde, duck, fish, and shrimp tacos, and a small cucumber salad as a side. Each taco has an ample amount of meat and toppings, but they are mostly bite sized that can be finished in two to three bites. The meats are fresh and delicious, and the sauces enhanced the flavor. To kick it up a notch, I added the jabenaro sauce too. My favorite had to be duck as it was tender and had the gamey flavor I enjoy! The cucumber salad was refreshing, but the chili flakes they had did give me a donkey kick. For dessert, the tres leches came in a mason jar, and was moist and rich. Just enough to have me filled and satisfied. The service was excellent, with the bartender and manager checking up on me a couple times. While there weren't many patrons when I came in early, it did get more crowded later in the evening. The music was great as well. I must say Bartaco is the Domu of taco restaurants. The menu has some serious Cuban favorites, including the Cuban sandwich with slow roasted mojo pork, ham, Swiss cheese, pickles and mustard, ropa vieja, roast pork, croqueta preparada, ham and chicken croquetas, maduros, arroz congrí, and of course Cuban coffee including coladas, cortaditos and café con leche. Chef Tony also puts his own touch on the food, giving traditional Cuban flavors a little gourmet upgrade without losing what makes Cuban food Cuban. Incorrect Order & Staff Attitude My food came out with sour cream, which is not listed as a topping for the item I ordered. I don't eat dairy, and when I pointed it out, the employee grabbed the tray, walked off, then came back and shoved it in front of me while insisting "this is what you selected." Completely unprofessional. The helpful employee stepped in and offered to remake it, but by then the experience was already ruined. Food Quality The food itself was bland and lacked flavor.
