Rodolfo (Rodo), misogynistic and homophobic manager at Mi Pueblito's Topeka location.
    René R.

The food is okay, nothing special, just cheap. However, this is made possible by cheapskate owners exploiting their employees and cutting corners every chance they get. The manager, Rodolfo, at the Topeka location is misogynistic, homophobic, and inappropriate with employees and customers. Nevertheless, the employees are super friendly and helpful but clearly overworked and underpaid.

A hidden gem at 79th and Quivira! This is a grocery store that specializes in Mexican food. You can purchase ingredients such as corn husks, masa, and Mexican cheeses that cannot be found at other area grocery stores, and if you're not feeling like cooking they have a wide variety of delicious hot food ready to eat! I am so happy I found Mi Pueblito Market. It's clean, well stocked with products, and the employees are friendly and helpful. I highly recommend for authentic Mexican ingredients and pre-made food.

Just a little gem a buddy and I happened to try for.. TACO TUESDAY! They have an amazing market for meat, vegetables, beans, rice, etc. Anything you could think of to make a good meal! Usually when I explore new places to eat; regardless of the food, I try and get a little bit of a mixture. Here the only thing I could see that really drew me in was the pastor and I'm glad that was my only selection because it was GOOOOD! Yummy! If you're near the area working, or even traveling through I would highly recommend stopping by!

    a variety of food items

I stopped in while driving buy just to buy some groceries. I noticed a line for the hot prepared food. I discovered the Taco Tuesday special and wasn't let down. The food was fantastic

Hey guys, if you haven't been here please go. Don Alonso (the owner) is a pretty genuine person, I had the opportunity to meat him a couples years back but overall let's not allow that to allow me to have a opinion about this place. I didn't sit and eat but I did get carne al pastor preparada, ready to just cook! The meat from their butchery is fresh and looks well kept. The location is very clean and the staff is nice. I also had to get vegetables to make salsa and the produce is fresh. My S/O and I really enjoyed the food and salsa I made with the produce I have purchased here. Will 100% be returning

Steak tacos with cilantro and onion. Optional but must-try hot sauce makes this a perfect helping of street tacos.

A slightly hidden gem in Shawnee! Working within walking distance here has given me the opportunity to eat here numerous times. I always select the street style tacos and usually order steak. Sitting on these small corn tortillas is a generous portion of the meat of your choosing and of course cilantro and onion (optional). A side of rice is a must as well. After getting to the end of the line you are able to take more cilantro and onion if wanted but more importantly two selections of hot sauce. I have not ventured out more into their menu but everything theyhave on display in front of you looks fantastic. If you're looking for some great authentic food, then you definitely have to step inside this market! Note: I have not tried anything else here besides a sweeter bread from the bakery here.

My four street tacos (two pollo and two pastor) were reasonably-priced and delicious, with plenty of moist, nicely-seasoned meat on fresh, warmed, double-layer tortillas, and my choice of toppings from the toppings bar, which included onions, cilantro, radishes, limes, and three sauces (the light brown sauce had a good amount of heat). The service at the counter could have been faster and more efficient, and the sauces at the toppings bar needed to be restocked, while the spartan dining area was clean with Mexican background music (a little too loud). There was a large meat counter in the rear, grocery items, bakery items, and a produce section. Very nice!

I recently moved in the area and was thrilled to see this meat market! I've been here at least 2 times a week for the last month for tacos. I always order 3-4 carne asada tacos, corn, with cilantro and onion. Tacos are regularly $1.59/corn and $1.99/flour and to my surprise $1 (at least for corn) in Tuesday's!! I did read some reviews before I went for my first time because I get nervous going to places alone for the first time, so they were all very helpful! It should be noted that the women in the kitchen area speak Spanish. If you're not willing to learn Spanish to communicate or don't have patience when trying to communicate with someone else, don't go here. It's an authentic Mexican meat market. Be respectful and kind. That said, I recommend giving it a shot if you're in the area!! They have a decently large dine-in area.

The tacos and food are very delicious, you should try there tamales that are very good. The corn tamales are by the entrance on the left side next to where they put the fresh salsas and cakes. If you have never try them they are sweet, when I leave in Mexico my grandma, my mom and aunt they use to sale food to provide for our family so we always had tamales, raspados, buñuelos, capirotada and few other foods. But my grandma prepare the tamales that where 6 different flavors and the corn tamales from here remind me of the ones my grandma made us. The meat department all the way back has great meat to pick from, but if you want something hot and ready to eat try the crunchy chicharrones and the meat. There sweet fresh bread are the best here, try the conchas.

Know a little Spanish when you go- they don't speak English at the food station (which I find refreshing). Had a yummy trio of tacos. They were out of the tamales, which is what I had initially wanted. It was pretty cold inside, so keep your coat on!

Tacos de maiz (corn tortillas). It's a small tortilla but they load it full! It was $1.49 per taco (maiz). Pictured is pastor (2), pollo (1) y bistec (1). Flavorful and authentic taste of Mexico.

    Biggest chicharonnes I've ever seen.

This is my favorite spot for authentic tacos! The Best carnitas around. I also like the shredded beef taco. The juices are really good too.

I do not eat a great deal of meat but when I do... I want quality. I was ill prepared for the wonderful experience that awaited me. The person that helped me, Brian, was terrific. He was super knowledgeable about products, preparation and taste. He even steered me away from higher priced items for lower priced things he thought I would like better. He was thorough and patient with my endless questions. He is very well suited to his job. They have all sorts of items in this quaint shop. They have cheese, jams, jellies, bread, eggs, kitchen equipment. From outside the shop, it does not appear to be very large inside and it isn't necessarily large.. just well packaged. The meat selection is vast... beef, pork, buffalo, chicken, lamb.... in every configuration you can imagine. They have steaks, ground meat, jerky. I learned so much just talking to Brian. There is ample parking and this store is located in a strip mall so there is easy access. Everything is sparkling clean and has a very nice atmosphere about the shop. Tremendously impressed with this gem of a shop.
