We decided to try out this restaurant for the first time and were so happy we did! Fresh & Flavorful are two words that come to mind when we tried our dinners. The server (maybe owner, not sure) came over and pulled up a chair to explain the menu in full. We were thankful since I have celiac and it helped us to know more about what to choose then and when we go back. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals and would order the same dishes again. My husband had a chicken dish and I had the steak tacos with corn tortillas and fresh guacamole. The atmosphere is casual and friendly with good service. It is also very clean.

Mmm... I rarely write a review after the first visit but I am just so excited that La Cocina De Mary is now in town. First thing first, the food was amazing. Every dish had its own distinct flavor profile and every component complemented each other for an amazing dish. Plus, everything was fresh and cooked to perfection. Their menu has a few dishes we rarely see in the KC food scene. We were excited to have a Cemita and Arabe Tacos. Cemitas are a type of sandwich with crispy meat, stringy Oaxaca cheese, and deliciousness. The Arabe taco was a tortilla wrapped in juicy meat topped with adobo sauce that we will be back again for. Joseph ensured that we had a great dining experience. It was clear that he was passionate about serving high quality food and helping the customers find a dish they love. I highly recommend La Cocina de Mary.

Went here with my parents last night. Food was great, and the chef was EXTREMELY friendly. He came out and explained the menu and at another point brought us fresh drinks for us to try (rice water and hibiscus). He's extremely excited and passionate about the place. Food was great. I would take off half a star because the music was distractingly loud and when I asked him to turn it down, he either forgot or barely adjusted the volume, and there were times that the wait got kind of long once more tables arrived, because he was so friendly that he was giving every table the undivided attention. It's such wonderful service but when you aren't getting the attention, the wait can get long. I definitely recommend and really this should be 4.5 stars due to the volume and some wait but I don't want to take away from their stellar ratings because they were extremely friendly with great food. He did give us free dessert since it was our first time.

The sign on the building is small and hard to read. (Note to owners-PLEASE get bigger /more clear signage). I truly thought it was a beach themed bar and grill until I finally pulled into the parking lot to take a closer look the other day. Upon realizing it was a Salvadoran restaurant my husband and I immediately tried it. At first, one might be struck by the old farmhouse smell of the restaurant. It's not entirely pleasant but easily forgotten once drinks and food are served. It honestly gives the place a lot of charm. The service was great, and the food came out quickly. Every single bite was truly delectable. With a creative menu and fresh ingredients, you an't go wrong here. In never eat leftovers and I took every single leftover home and ate it the next day. PLEASE give this place a try. It's just special. Note: you pay at the register, so don't get upset if your server doesn't bring you a bill. Thank you for a lovely meal!

It was very unique and hard to describe, but I'd have it again. Also hard to identify is the unique flavor in the horchata drink, which I really liked too. I want to come back and try every drink. And of course eat more pupusas with curtido, because that slaw is wonderful. My hubby really enjoyed the sauce.

The chicken…read moresoup (Sopa de Pollo) is the best, and while I haven't had chicken soup anywhere else in KC, based on what I had I can confidently say that this is the best chicken soup in KC. This is no canned soup slop, no way, all homemade. Big pieces of chicken, or in my partners bowl a whole leg on bone, in a authentic bone broth makes it sooooo flavorful that you can tell that love was the most important ingredient. The restaurant has character with Latin music playing on TV's giving it a good vibe. The people are super nice and makes it feel like your eating at a family's home. I will definitely be back to try some more delicious food!
