Finally got to Dr. Rolf's yesterday for a lovely lunch on their front patio. The sauces are the big…read morewinners here. Five different blends of savory and sweet just waiting to bathe your barbecued meat in mouthwatering goodness. I was particularly fond of the apricot peach sauce. The ribs here are legit, too. Lots of meat between the bones, and it falls off those bones so beautifully. Green beans could use more flavor, but the cornbread waffles are genius--get them.

A friend recommended this place, so I brought my family here for a late lunch. We arrived around 2…read morep.m. on a Saturday and found the restaurant nearly empty, which made me a bit suspicious. We ordered the nachos with an extra $7 of brisket, a side of mac and cheese, a brisket sandwich, a pulled pork sandwich, and a kids' pulled pork meal. Almost everything arrived at the table in under five minutes--except the mac and cheese. All of the food was lukewarm, aside from the mac and cheese skillet. The speed and temperature made it feel like they had simply assembled leftovers that had been sitting out. The sandwiches tasted fine but nothing special. The kids' pulled pork meal consisted of two broken pieces of bread with only a few tiny bits of meat and a huge container of essentially room-temperature tater tots. The nachos themselves tasted great, but they were also lukewarm and overpriced for the portion--especially since the "brisket" we paid extra for seemed more like taco meat. Our waitress was excellent, but the portion sizes and prices just didn't feel worth it. The food would have been much better if it had been served hot instead of warm or nearly room temperature. I wouldn't recommend this place for a family with young kids. Overall, very disappointing.

YUMMMMMMM! Looking for takeout food on a football Sunday, we…read moredecided to check this place out based on a friend recommendation. We showed up anticipating placing a takeout order, assuming a short wait, and that's what we got. The neighborhood was a little bit iffy, with bars on the windows of the building, and there was really no parking lot, so street parking only. It's very small inside with an order/pickup Window and no seating. There's a big menu on the wall with pictures, and paper menus to read and/or take with you. The lady working was very very helpful with recommendations, explaining dishes, and helping us to decide what to order. Fantastic customer service. The food came out EXTREMELY fast. I actually couldn't believe it was already our order. We got an array of items and everything was pretty good. We got the Panchita, which was like loaded nachos, and it was good, but being takeout, it was soggy by the time we ate it. The spicy tamales were good but dry, and I would probably try those again. The burrito was VERY good - and the green salsa was delicious!

So glad Navarro's was at the Fulton Street Farmers Market BIPOC night recently! Nate and I got…read moretheir spicy pork tamales and really enjoyed them. They came three to an order for only $6, which I thought was a great value. They were a bit smaller than other tamales I've had before, but they were the best ones I've ever had. The masa was soft and not dry at all, and the tamales held together well. The ratio of filling to masa was good due to the smaller size, and the pork was tender and flavorful. These weren't super spicy but had a little kick to them. We were offered a cup of verde salsa, which was the perfect accompaniment. I'm really excited to check out Navarro's restaurant the next time we're in Muskegon. They have been family owned and operated for nearly 45 years, and with tamales this good, I can see why!
