Address listed is incorrect. Tacos Morelotes are on Junction corner of Christiancy. Elotes are still fantastic!

El Paisa is located in the parking lot of Sam's Supermercado…read more(http://www.yelp.com/biz/sams-supermercado-detroit). I got two tacos - al pastor and carne asada. I made the mistake of getting everything to go, meaning the tacos were wrapped in a foil packet, the grilled onions and half a grilled jalapeno were in another foil packet, and the sliced raw radishes and lime were in yet another foil packet. Cups of red and green salsas were also carefully tucked in the bag. I really liked the tacos. I thought the carne asada was a little tough, though, and liked the pastor better (the flavor was really good too). The cilantro was fresh and the flavor really shone. In the three trucks that we stopped at that day, El Paisa's cilantro packed the biggest punch, which is a very good thing in my book... I'm a cilantro fiend. I also liked that the raw onions were very finely chopped. I usually HATE raw onions, but these finely chopped onions added just the right amount of bite. As for the salsas, I thought I'd like the green better but ended up enjoying the spiciness of the red more. Well, it wasn't that spicy but it had a bit of heat to it (kinda like a mild-medium), which was much needed, since everything else was pretty mild, including the grilled jalapeno. When I bit into it, I thought it was a green pepper in the shape and size of a jalapeno. For $1.25 a taco, I got a decent amount of food and would be able to make a meal out of 3-4 tacos. Mmm... tacos... :)

Delicious feast, TONS of sauteed onions, generous with the radishes…read more Stopped here today to check out the pollo and cabeza tacos for the first time. Great great stuff. I think they might have the biggest menu selection of any of the trucks... anyone else agree? The cabeza is diced very finely, much more so than the norm, which was interesting. I think i prefer a slightly rougher cut (on the other end of the spectrum is El Pariente's cabeza, which has much more texture per bite), but El Paisa's style took nothing away from the flavors. A small but notable detail was that the limes served here, unlike most of the competition, were extremely fresh and juicy, barely had to apply any pressure to get quite a bit of that great lime juice onto the meats, and nothing goes better with cabeza than a little salsa and a lot of lime juice. so good. The pollo was standard, but, as you all know, standard in SW taco truck land is absolute tastiness. Other things I noticed: 1) catching a bad break i suppose, the strong wind today was carrying the truck exhaust (since the truck was running) up alongside the eating counter... so I smelled faintly like a lawnmower when I return home... too bad, didn't really notice while i was eating, thankfully. 2) two tacos and a coke was $3.75 ... a score of a deal by any measure... well, except by taco truck measure... EITHER their tacos are 25 cents more than the competition, or their cokes are a little pricier... a really puny value difference ultimately, and doesn't stop me from giving El Paisa my full-hearted approval. This truck sits in the parking lot of the plaza at Vernor Hwy and Lansing St. WEEKENDS only. CASH only.

Aren't donuts the most perfect dessert after any kind of meal? I ate next door, before coming here…read more I was craving something sweet and carby, like a donut. The woman working there greeted me when I came in. She explained to me the options for the bucket or the bag of mini donuts. She also gave me a little bit more detail and background around the custard shake. The custard shakes are made with her wonderful high quality custard yogurt. Their small machine puts out 1,200 Mini donuts an hour. They're bigger machine puts a 2,400. It's fairly quick. She made them fresh for my bucket. The bucket is $15 for the mini donuts. I also ordered a custard shake. I had her mix the peanut butter and chocolate, because, why not. I tried the mini donuts hot off the conveyor. They were slightly crunchy, melt in your mouth and the most perfect size bite you could ever ask for. I had her put the cinnamon sugar and she blended it over the donuts nicely. Just The hint of cinnamon and sugar is so delicious on these buttery mini size donuts. They're a little piece of heaven in your mouth. The custard shake is of course creamy and delicious. It's nice that the prominent taste is the peanut butter, with a little added enhancement from the chocolate. She took the chocolate and swirled around the outside edge of the glass. They have a food truck, but they moved into this brick and mortar in the summertime.
