I've been here several times throughout the years. Every time the food is delish! But one thing is for sure, they have the best salsas anywhere. Now that it has become more popular I have to wait to get in; we waited around 5 minutes or so for someone to greet us, then another 10-15 to be seated. I liked that they have a QR code for the menu on the table, We were able to put in our order together with our drinks. And it is true they are a little slow, but I have noticed such as today that there were two servers and 15 tables all occupied (yes, I counted). The food it's worth the wait. I love the decorations, plants and paintings on the wall. I do wish they had more than 1 bathroom stall for the women's bathroom at least. But this is a small restaurant. Though small they have tables set up for a big group of people. They have a tiny bar with decent margaritas. They also have the Oaxaca classics such as the Tlayuda; a big slowly roasted tostada (maybe 15" in diameter, it looks like an average pizza) filled with your favorite toppings. Very disappointing. I ordered carnitas tacos with beans and rice on the side with a horchata. It tasted. . . Wrong. Like old meat. The horchata didn't taste too good either. Charging $31 for our meals was insulting. My husband only had 3 tacos. We had to sit outside. There was no chips and salsa. I just wasn't happy with it and refused to eat it. Wish someone would have left an honest review about this place. The service was good, just a little slower getting the check to us than we would've liked. The staff weren't wearing masks or if they were they had them around their necks and not properly which is kind of upsetting for a food place. The cheese dip was extremely watery and spicy. The guacamole was good but seemed to be lacking something, it didn't have enough flavor and wasn't as good as we expected for the price. I got the chicken soup because I LOVE chicken tortilla soup but this was extremely disappointing. It was in a HUGE portion but had absolutely no flavor. I'm not sure why there are so many 5 star reviews or maybe we went at a bad time. We had to ask for napkins, straws, and utensils more than once. The waitress seemed surprised when we wanted forks to eat our dinner! We asked for a drink refill and never got it. The food was ok (chicken was dry and black beans were unseasoned). The only place I look forward to going to in Lillington is this place right here. I love their tacos! They're seriously so tasty and cheap. My favorite is the tacos de lengua (beef tongue). I always get this here because you can't always find it everywhere. Yes, it is a tiny bit extra ($2.59 vs $2.39) but it's definitely worth it. The lengua isn't mushy, but it's not too tough either. Every taco here is wrapped in 2 corn tortillas. Next, we ordered the alambre, which had 3 different meats - ham, chorizo, and steak. It came with a side of avocado, lettuce, tomato, sour cream and 5 warm tortillas in case you want to make your own tacos. Very flavorful and easily customized. But without the sauces, I thought it was a bit salty.. maybe because of the cheese that it was smothered in? The service is friendly, the food is delicious, and prices are low. This tiny little shack in the middle of no-where is spitting out super authentic street style Mexican food. It's impeccably clean inside and out and there is an outdoor seating area that smells of jasmine and rosemary. The menu was mostly in Spanish with English translation that includes gems like "friend pork" and "ground beer," so you know it's legit. Our entire meal for two people came out to less than $12. So aside from being fantastic, fresh food, it is also dirt cheap. This is the first Mexican joint we have found in the greater Fayetteville area turning out anything close to real, delicious Mexican food. But don't let it. Its clean, the outside sitting area nice, a little loud with the traffic. I order four tacos. They are small to me. I ordered the Al Pastor (marinated pork), Carne Asada (Steak), and two Grilled Chicken. I was literally to "chicken" to try the Taco de Lengua (beef tongue). They also had Chorizo (Mexican sausage), Chicharrón ( fried pork skin), and Carnitas (fried tender pork) The tacos are made with lettuce, cilantro, Oaxaca cheese and a doubled up soft corn tortillas. I must admit I am not a fan of corn tortillas. I always feel the corn flavor over powers the rest of the taco. I am glad i ordered the tacos. They where simple but amazing. My favorite was the steak. Next time I will not be a wimp and I will try the beef tongue and Chicharrón. Its worth the drive to Lillington if you live in Wake County.
