I used to drive 40 miles round trip for this food. Being from southern Califonia, I get cravings for the Mexican food I used to have back home. Especially carne asada fries, my favorite food. I really wanted to like this place. It's open late, it's cheap, it's fun going to drive-thru places that don't let you come inside. But I've been here three times and I just haven't been impressed. I've had their combo plates, tacos, and burritos. Yeah, you get a lot of food for the money. The meat is DRY and tough. It's open 24 hours. Why not marinate it or slow cook it? I'm from California living in New York. So there is California Mexican that I always thought was Mexican Mexican. Then I learned about tex-mex and New York mex which has very little credibility as it's usually Dominican-Cuban food and not actually Mexican. Coming to Colorado I discovered colo-mex. I'm absolutely blown away. It's 1:30 AM and I'm sitting here in the parking lot and I just finished a supreme burrito. I've grown up in San Diego my entire life thus far, of 27 years, and I believe I have a good idea of what good mexican food tastes like. I had severe doubts that Colorado could compete with southern San Diego's Mexican food, particularly outside of Aurora, but I can now put those doubts to rest. Very disappointed. Took forever to get through drive through. I happen to have a not very common, and currently minor, but very real allergy to lettuce. They put it on EVERYTHING! Even when you ask them not to! Ordered the shrimp quisadilla, specifically asked for no lettuce, I get home and found tons of lettuce in my quisadilla! Looks good, smells good, but can't eat it! They are open Xmas (and New Year's)! Great service, the dude at the counter was very nice. Grub was perfect, very flavorful, not greasy, tender beef. I had the combo chimichanga. Pico de gallo was excellent, guac perfect, beans and rice were very good. It didn't have a ton of cheese (like that of TexMex), BONUS, and it looked and smelled incredible; I couldn't wait to tear into it. Great value at a great price; tons of food. for a drive thru and fast food place, this place hits the mark. I've tried a few things on the menu and they are much better than what you normal find at a fast food place. I swear they make all their food fresh, but I can't verify that right now. I know they use the good tortillas and not those big thick floury (crappy) ones. I love that they give you the little cups of green and red hot sauce that you can pour over you next bite. That just adds a little authentic touch. Not only was customer service horrible and rushed but they managed to trap two flies in my food . There is no way you could miss it the flies were big enough to be seen. Great spot. I love myself some simple and delicious fried foods; so this was right up my alley. It's a fast food/24hr joint so it is what it is, that being said I'm stoked I found it! Loved the rolled taquitos. Got a 5 pack! Had both salsas and added a side of enchilada sauce; one of them added a small flavor of spice. Brother in law went for the carne asada fries and they were mega loaded. Steak was good too. If you're a snob you won't like it; but that's probably why I love it. Was there today around lunch time and ordered some adobada fries, I sat in the drive thru for more then 15 minutes for food that was too overpriced especially for the quality. The fries were not good at all, they were all hard and stale, well the little bit of fries they gave me because my plate was full of meat and I'm guessing they just put a hand full of those nasty fries. Friendly service and the walk uLp window was fairly quick. i ordered the carne asada taco plate which came with beans and rice and 2 tiny salsas, 1 green (yummy with a kick) and red (not very spicy and didn't have much flavor). I really liked the beans and rice. The tacos came with a lot of meat and 4 corn tortillas as well as some guac. I was picking up an order there and waited at the pick up window for about 10 minutes before I decided to try the drive thru. For what it is, this place is awesome. I'd never waited 20 minutes in a drive-thru until stopping here Friday night. It's quite the scene- with a crowd at the walk up window and both drive-thru lanes snaking into the parking lot, speakers bumping. Carnitas, rolled tacos and chicken tacos were extra delicious and pretty greasy. So that's what lard can add to a Mexican meal! One of us didn't feel quite so good the next day, but I'd be willing to deal with that every once in a while for such a delicious treat. Okay, this spot is decent. I have eaten here a few times so I now feel able to give them an accurate review. The food is greasy and delicious though there is just not a lot of continuity between items on different days. Some days I have come here and they are on and everything is amazing. Other times I have come here and things are way off and I am lucky if I get something even similar to what I have ordered. It seems to be a trend that they just get orders wrong here. I do love the accessibility of the place and the fact that I can just drop in and get some fairly good food anytime. I will continue to eat here for the time being. read more
