So first off, don't be afraid to take the passenger side window line if there are a lot of cars. Second, if we're including the line of cars or at the walk up window, it should be called "tacos regular-speed". Third, their salsas are a game changer. The food is actually really good and it's open 24 hours! However, the customer service is horrible. I get it, it's not a fancy place but at least listen to the customer on what they want. The good: the food for the price. I always get the carne asada fries or carne adobas fries no guacamole.... I really enjoy the fries which is why I never mind waiting in the long lines. The bad: They always put guac on my fries. So I started asking for it on the side. That seemed to work. Seems impossible to modify an item honestly. The speaker on the right side sucks so I can barely hear the cashier. Sometime I don't even know if they even took my order cuz I have no idea what they're saying. The young man said no, so I simply said well I don't want guac. I kid you not this man said "well they are already made".... If Im paying for something, I want it made correctly the first time. They did remake them for me so there's that. Second visit, I ordered my usual again as well as a carne asada plate and a drink. Again, I couldn't understand the cashier. So I drove up. First thing the cashier does is give me the bag and I noticed it only had one plate so I looked and saw a burrito. I told her that wasn't my food so she said "oh" and proceeds to give me my correct order. But it wasn't. The only thing I received was the carne asada plate.m and not my other two items. Frustrated, I decided to just take this plate and go. It was dinner rush and I simply did not want to come back and complain again. On top of all this the cashiers don't apologize, they barely even look at you. Seems like the cashiers are robots, although I'm sure robots would do a better job then the current cashiers. Pretty sure this is a lie that I haven't reviewed here; because I've been to both TR locations; anyone who read my previous review knows I'm a huge fanboy and consider them to be the best grilled authentic burrito in Denver. Weird how some old reviews one writes stick around and some others evaporate... Anyway, in a nutshell, this place is popular and has a devoted following. To the best of my knowledge, there is no place to dine inside -- you can either walk up on the north end and stand outside exposed to the elements (be they icy or sweltering) and wait for your order or go through a drive-through; they parallel on both sides of the building so you can hand your payment through the driver's side window or passenger side. The driver's side drive through I think there might be a partial issue with the speaker system, but There are many selections here to choose from -- full combo plates, tortas, tacos, burritos. chimis, tostadas, enchiladas -- but my favorite (at both locations) is their burritos. If you get the carne asada (with guac) or the lengua (it's tongue; trust me anything grilled is delicious!) burritos, they are *stuffed*. And not with bull**** fillers like rice. Quite a few don't even have bean. You pay $6 here, but you get a long cylindrical burrito about 2 1/2" across filled with amazing ingredients. The meat...I don't know how they do it, but it tastes somewhat buttery!! It just adds to the enjoyment and epicness of how good the grilled food is here. [I am amused by Liz C's review from 10/25 saying she found a *rock* in her burrito. Sounds like urban myth to me...] Their breakfast burritos are astounding as well. The drive-thru lines can vary from a few cars to over a dozen in each line. That doesn't happen if you aren't making great food. I don't legit know if both locations are open 24/7 anymore -- they don't appear to have any web presence and Yelp says (and I believe I've seen on the Alameda door) they have finite business hours at the Alameda location. The Evans drive-through? Unknown. I know it's open late nights past 2am on Friday and Saturday nights. Give them a shot, bring about $6 per burrito -- buy 2 or 3 and put in your fridge for a superior breakfast or lunch experience the rest of the week. :) read more

I have rarely done this and I will be disagreeing with fellow Yelpers. My go to 24 hour place is Breakfast King but I was near Federal and Evans so I thought I would try Tacos Rapidos. I read all of your reviews and they all 4-5 stars. They were obviously short handed tonight. But, I ordered the carne asada burrito and wow that was the saltiest meat ever! But their guacamole is freshly made and delicious. That's why the extra stars. But my burrito tasted disgusting - but my beagle, Romeo, loved it!!! 24 Hour Drive up Mexican with two drive through lanes and a walk up window. First: That's awesome. They really want to be able to get food to you and they give you several ways to get there. Second: 24 hours is great. Though I have only ever made night or late night runs to Tacos Rapidos. Far superior to other drive through fast food Mexican joints. Huge menu to choose from, though I usually end up ordering the same things. I recently tried their chips and guac. Fantastic. Don't go in expecting gourmet food. And if you're hitting it up on a weekend evening/late night, don't expect to get out of their quickly. That might be my one complaint. Very long lines at night even with both lanes and walk up open. But this really hits that spot when you want fast food Mexican after a couple beers or bowls. When you get to the window, the food is fast. It is very transactional. Very good Mexican drive through food. There may be a few tables outside but I've always gone through the drive through. They have two drive thru lanes to keep the lines down. They have a lot of options. My favorites are the carnitas tacos, which are much larger than most Mexican restaurants. I am usually full with two. They give you red and green salsa which definitely has some kick. The cheese quesadilla is also delicious and made in a huge corn tortilla, which is unusual for quesadillas. They have breakfast buritos, tortas (ham & egg is a favorite), nachos, loaded fries and rice and beans. Definitely good for a quick meal and when you don't want to have a waiter and fancy presentation of tasty Mexican fare. read more

Hole in the wall Mexican food. I'm only in this area once every couple months, but I gotta stop when I am. First, customer service is hit or miss. All the windows are blocked, kinda weird you can't see inside. Old school building, speaking to the drive thru speaker makes you think its original from the 80s, barely can hear the employee. Double drive thru, one for a passenger side, other driver. Open 24 hours, but The wait can be off putting. Today was 5 minutes for 2 tacos. But dang, the food is worth it. 2 chicken tacos, stuffed! No shortage whatsoever, very generous. The spices on the chicken had the perfect amount of kick, so delicious and juicy. Pepsi products means tacos and mountain dew, taco bell perfected this combo. This isn't Southern California carne asada fries though. Was in the mood for fried tacos one day and tried beef tacos combo #2 and was very dry and stale and tasted like old grease. Not good. My husband and I are originally from San Diego and somehow they have brought the taste of SoCal to Colorado, which in my experience has been hard to find. Even the tortillas are spot on, homemade and DELICIOUS. The carnitas is great too, I can proudly say I've never had a weird bite of meat from here. Service has become awful. They do not give you enough salsa and then try to charge you extra when you ask for more. They usually give you a ton of salsa but this one lady gives you about two and then when you ask for more she tries to charge you. I love tacos rapidos. Fast, cheap, and delicious. How many places can deliver on all those at once? I typically stick with the Carne asada tacos and burritos. But the lengua and other various proteins I've tried have been tasty as well. There are some reviews complaining this place isn't gourmet Mexican food. Perhaps you shouldn't have the expectation that a place named Tacos Rapidos will have a gourmet approach. Food here is not nicely dished with gold leaf or saucy dabs on the plate. It's the kind of place where the food is gift wrapped in parchment paper and foil ready to be devoured with copious amounts of hot sauce. It's yummy street style food that's open 24/7. read more

I enjoyed this place! It's a drive thru or order at the window. It's more like a Tex mex type food but still good! They have two lines for drive thru but it can still back up with larger orders so come here if you have a little time to wait. It's a small kitchen and they serve a lot of people. I take away a star because of the girl who took our order. She was curt and it seemed like there was a language barrier there, and I asked for extra salsa and she just walked away without saying anything. I stayed in the drive thru to see if she would come back and she didn't. So I left. I'll definitely return to see if that gets better but if it happens a second time, it's not like there aren't enough Mexican places in the area. read more
