We were looking for getting some Mexican food to go but decided to dine in at Tacos Tijuana Cantina. Ambience: clean, bright, tastefully decorated. Service was prompt and super friendly. We appreciate the speed in which the chips and salsa were brought to our table. We were hungry. The two street taco combo came with a grilled jalapeno. A nice touch! The rice and beans were really good. The al pastor and carne asada were a little on the bland side. The steak enchilada and chilli relleno were so flavorful. We will definitely go for these again. Decided to give them another chance and I'm glad I did. They are now officially on my "would return" (4+ stars) list-- at least for CERTAIN items. Let me tell you what in my experience they do well: carne asada, burgers (surprisingly!), guacamole, the salsas (mild and "spicy") and service. The kids' meal was a full sized burger and the patty was thick, juicy, and really flavorful. The kids meal was a good value because my two young children were able to share the burger and fries with how large the portion was. DON'T expect to be impressed with the following items: al pastor, beans, chips... The al pastor was unlike any I had ever had before. It was a vibrant red and the flavor REALLY reminded me of Chinese bbq pork-- specifically, the seasoning packets you can buy. The beans don't do it for me (they are missing that savory umami note of salt and lard that I crave from Mexican refried beans so much). Ambiance is alight. A couple of my friends and I stopped by this place yesterday. I've been meaning to try this place out for a while since they opened. The place was full, probably because it was lunch time. We were greeted as we came through the door and seated immediately. We looked through the menu. There were a lot of things I wanted to try but I settled for my unusual bean and cheese burrito. The place was decorated nicely. My buddy, who is Mexican, explained to us what the paintings on the walls were. Interesting. Our server was very nice and friendly. She was even sort of entertaining. The service was great. We got our orders after a few minutes. The plate was hot. It looked like the food was served on a ceramic plate. Authentic. My burrito looked awesome but it tasted just ok. To me it was sort of bland. I don't know. I'm comparing it to a Roberto's bean and cheese burrito. It didn't taste bad but it didn't grab me. I guess I was expecting more flavor for a fancy bean burrito. I liked that they had a roasted jalapeño on the side. Overall, my experience there was great. The bean burrito was ok. I'm a big fan of Mexican cuisine, and Taco Tijuana Cantina didn't disappoint. Plenty of seating and staff, so even on the busiest of days they can accommodate a couple or a big banquet. We enjoyed our meals and had plenty to take home. The menu must list over 30 items, from seafood to beef with all the regulars chicken and pork etc. Our waiter (Carlos) was above and beyond good. He was tentative to our needs; must have filled our waters three times. The food came out hot and appealing. With their extensive menu it's guaranteed you'd find something you would enjoy there. Great service and good breakfast burrito. Mine came with ham, scrambled eggs, cheese with a side of rice and beans. They also included a roasted pepper that wasn't too spicy and a good addition to the meal. The restaurant was clean other than the bathroom that needed minor cleanup. Overall, pretty good! Grabbed some lunch on the weekend here. We had some friends tell us about this restaurant and we figured we would also give it a try. Our waitress was nice and made sure we were always taken care of. Chips and salsa arrived quickly. The salsa was really good and has a slight kick to hit. The tortilla chips were really stale though. Enjoyed checking out the "new for me" Mexican restaurant and cantina. Passed the "chips and salsa" phase 1 test with a large amount of appetizer tortilla chips and a delicious just right spiced salsa. First and only time we will eat at this resturant. The room was warm, and after a hot day, we were looking for a cool comfortable place for dinner. Not here. We ordered two frozen margaritas and the waitress brought us two drinks which were not frozen - when we told the waitress we wanted frozen margaritas she told us they were and that she make them herself with ice. We sent them back. A bar tender returned later w frozen drinks and they were mainly ice and little tequila- very weak. We ordered a steak and ship fajitas, but the "skilled" waitress brought us steak and chicken - we sent it back while our side dish got cold. This was my first time trying Tacos Tijuana and, unlike the name implies, I had the steak fajita burrito smothered in green sauce instead of tacos. I was impressed with the portion sizes, their selection of margarita flavors, and happy hour, which is 40% entire menu from 2:30pm to 5:30pm every day. Their menu also features breakfast, kids meals, value meals, and dessert. Now onto the burrito, it was stuffed and smothered, the large portion that left me also stuffed and smothered. This was seasoned well, and the steak was sliced tenderly. Each entree came with rice and beans, the usual, as well as chips and house salsa. Stopped by as I work and live close to this place and had previously ordered to-go but never sat in. At first we were met with a friendly waitress who seated us and brought out chip & salsa and a couple of ice waters. The restaurant was highly decorated for Christmas, a man was setting up for Loteria, a few tables were filled of other customers and Selena played almost the entire time we were there -- pretty on par with what I expect for a Mexican restaurant during this time of year. My boyfriend and I ordered two margaritas, a raspberry (YUM) and a mango, both were delicious, their menu also included guava and strawberry which seems equally delicious. I ordered the quesabirria and my boyfriend ordered the steak fajita burrito covered in green sauce. His burrito was amazing! The steak was so tender and seasoned well, I was jealous I didn't order a burrito myself! The tacos were good, not the best quesabirria in my life but up there in flavor and taste. Each plate came with beans, rice, and a jalapeño. Overall, we were stuffed by the time our waitress checked in on us and since we were seated so close to the register, we were able to cash out fast. This is my family's go-to mexican restaurant. It is some really good sit down mexican food. I had the Birria plate and it was quite good. Well seasoned and still juicy. I am a sucker for beans and rice, it is down really well here. The waitstaff is very friendy and helpful explaining the items on the menu and helping us decide what to get. We went back on Saturday night to play Loteria, which is played like Bingo. What a fun night! Loteria Night is usually every 2 weeks at 7:30p (call for next date). There are lots of winners and alot of prizes. We left with a $15 Gift Card and a bottle of Tequila. Tonight I wasn't as hungry, so I ordered a Chile Relleno, but the order came with Two, as well as rice, beans and Tortillas. It was more food than I was hoping to get, but no worries because I had the leftovers for breakfast the next day. By the way, the Chile Relleno was very tasty and I'm picky when it comes to Chiles Rellenos. I also can't rave enough about the service. It's consistently excellent and everyone is so attentive. After playing Loteria, the fun continued with Social Dancing to the sounds of a DJ playing Bachata, Salsa and other Latin Rhythms. After driving by this plane for two years, I finally tried it in June and have been back twice since. Tacos Tijuana Cantina has a great happy hour special that runs from 2:30 pm - 5:30 pm every day of the week and everything on the menu is 40% off. Your meal starts off with complementary chips and salsa. The salsa might be the best salsa I have ever had and is spicy. I am a big fan of the Enchilada Suiza, but the Chicken Chimichanga is a close second. Every plate comes with rice and beans, which are also delicious. I have ordered a blended guava margarita every time I have gone and have not been disappointed. It's the perfect drink for a hot summer day. We came here on a Saturday night a little after 6 pm and we're seated promptly. We were brought our drinks, chips and salsa promptly. The salsa was a little spicy but pretty good. We ordered the bean dip and salsa, which was a green salsa. The bean dip was really good. Refried beans with broiled cheese on top was fabulous. And the green salsa was less spicy and had a good flavor. I ordered The Steak and Shrimp, probably ly the best shrimp I have had. They are a large size and delicious. Let me start by saying that the serves are so nice and the margaritas are yummy! However, the food is just not good. The carne asada in my burrito was just tiny stale crispy pieces of burnt carne asada and it was not really edible. I ate the carbs around the meat. Rice and beans ok. Got a stomach ache afterwards. The portions are super hearty- I got 2 very flavorful tacos and loved that you can mix and match! The al pastor was my favorite it was so well spiced and flavored- lots of meat. The food tastes incredibly fresh and homemade. Amazing price point only $11 for two big tacos beans and side salad. I've been here a couple times now and it's a great spot for Mexican food. The birria tacos are to die for, but on my recent food I decided to try some enchiladas. The sauce was very tasty but could have been hotter (temperature wise) and the meat was a little overcooked, which is why I knocked a star off. I just ordered takeout. A dry burrito with no utensils. What I was given was a wet burrito with utensils. Someone is not paying attention. I wanted an old fashioned burrito that I could hold and eat. You can't hold a wet burrito. I didn't discover the error until I was already home. Too late to do anything about it. I really like this restaurant and will not stop eating there. I tried this restaurant about a week ago. I thought it would be packed, especially since it was so close to the holidays. When we arrived, we were seated right away since there were only a few other guests there. I order the guava margarita (no alcohol) and it was delicious! I also ordered the California burrito and was a bit disappointed. The meat was a bit dry but the flavor overall was good. We did get chips and salsa after we sat down. I just want to say... I have a few regular haunts, but this place is simply the best! Great staff. They are always friendly and have become like family for my husband and I. I have brought so many others here whom have made it their frequent stop too. We all agree... The BEST.
