I ordered takeout from this spot on Saturday night around 7:30, and honestly, the experience was pretty disappointing. I expected a bit of a wait since it was a weekend, but the food wasn't ready until almost an hour later. Had to sit in the car for nearly half hour. Saturday nights are busy, but a restaurant should be prepared for that. The bigger issue was the Chicken Tikka Masala. It felt like they ran out of their usual portions because the chicken pieces were unusually large, and two of them weren't cooked all the way through. I bit into one and immediately knew something was off, the texture was almost cartilage-like, and it definitely wasn't fully cooked. I couldn't even cut it with a fork. Some of the other pieces were okay and cooked through to be considered edible. The flavor was fine, but the inconsistency and undercooked chicken really ruined the meal. read more

Been wanting to visit for years. Finally did just that. Place is a decent size to smallish. Street parking is available in the surrounding neighborhood. The food is very tasty. The menu has a nice assortment. Patronage on the Sunday we went was poor. We were the only ones there but this sat fine with us. Back to the food. The portions for the price charged could be bigger. Again, the food was very tasty. Ambiance was nice. The place looks/is clean. The waiter was very pleasant. The wait for food for the only people there was a tad excessive but we did get there when it opened so perhaps not everything was ready. Bottom line: I would definitely go back more often if the establishment offered buffet which I understand it did in the past (pre-Covid). I would go more often if the pricing were lowered. Case in Point. $5 for gulab jamun (3 balls) is excessive and disappointed me. They were average tasty good but their cost detracted from my enjoying them. I love Indian food, anytime, anyday, anyway (as long as it's good). Now that you know that about me.... A friend and I were at the door before they even opened. Waiting expectantly for the open sign to be turned on and our bellies to be filled (don't judge we were hungry). They have an extensive menu but we decided to go with the lunch buffet to try a little bit of everything they had to offer. They had your common rice, which was fragrant and fluffy, an array of vegetarian dishes, a few dishes with chicken and a paneer dish. All of which were very mildly seasoned, I assumed that is because it's a buffet and maybe if I ordered from the menu I could probably ask for more heat. Naan was brought fresh and warm to the table and my friend said it was good. Side note - the pakoras were completely gluten free, our waiter checked with the chef. Service was nice and welcoming. Best Indian food in America. I've tried a lot of Indian restaurants and nothing comes close to the flavors in these dishes. I always order garlic naan, vegetable samosa, paneer kadai (medium spice). I've also tried malai kofta which is really good. The chai drink is also great for the end of the meal. I will drive far to come here. Take out is also always on point. We were in the Secaucus area visiting family (4 of us) and were craving Indian food. Tadka was close by so decided to stop in for lunch on the weekend. For appetizers we ordered veg pakora and aaloo tikki choley and for mains we ordered the chicken tikka masala, saag paneer and chicken bhuna and various breads. Food was wonderful, freshly prepared and spiced appropriately. Everyone really liked the food but for me personally the chicken tikka masala was the show stopper. After fighting my cravings deep inside for some Indian food, I narrowed it down between trying out Tadka and trekking to Montclair to head back to Satish. My errands brought me closer to the Secaucus area, so my choice was made - I was going to add yet another new Indian restaurant to my conquests. I parked across the street in the metered lot. A small place from the outside. There are a few restaurants (sushi, I noticed) right on the same strip. I made it there from Park Avenue in Rutherford in 13 minutes (including the time wasted on being rerouted through all the side streets). When I walked in, the manager immediately opened the door for me. My order was ready to go. It smelt like a paradise island inside. I took in the decor. I would definitely consider eating in at one point. There were buffet tables along the back, as they have lunch buffet. The decor wasn't overly ethnic but yet warming. There was only one table occupied but it was Saturday, early afternoon. I paid for my food, while talking delivery the the manager. They do deliver, but only as far as Rutherford. I asked, "so no go on Nutley or Teterboro, then?" Ah, with that he smiled, to Teterboro, for a large order, we would deliver for you. Ah, yes, could it be true!?! That my desires for Indian food while working at the airport could possibly be satisfied?!? Why, yes, it seems that it could be. When I got home after making one other stop, 25 minutes later, my food was still hot. My naan stll hot. I opened the container and became overwhelmed with joy. The curry scent that danced around my head in my own dining room almost brought a tear to my eye. The rice was flavorful, and the baigan bharta was so full of flavor and curry it made my mouth happy and my tongue was dancing with joy. Glad I ordered it mild because it was just spicy enough to give me the satisfaction that my body deserved. The portions were big enough that I have enough for another meal. Like many other restaurants, They also sell cheap lamb meat and on the name of Goat. DO NOT order Goat dish because they sell lamb. The chicken biryani was Jira rice with chicken pieces and barely a Biryani. This is terrible. I hate such restaurants that cheat customers. I will NOT recommend this place. read more

What an absolutely lovely dinner I had at Tadka. Service was exceptional and this family run business has delicious food. The Garlic Naan was perfect, not too garlicky but very soft and fresh, with a crunchy bottom. My favorite dish is the Chicken Tikka Masala, which was creamy and flavorful. I added my own salt, since I like a little more to my food but the spice level was very good. I highly recommend this place to anyone in the Secaucus area. read more

Because of the lack of options, Tadka is probably the best choice for Indian food in the area. I have been here once for the buffet and ordered a massive takeout meal late at night. On both occasions, the food was decent, but nothing was mouthwatering except for their Chicken Tikka Masala (even the sauce was being eaten afterward). I recommend eating that, from the menu or the buffet. The buffet has a nice variety of different food, including vegetarian options; however, they seem to be really slow to refill. The flavor of there dishes just seemed to lack the deep flavor and spice I commonly associate with Indian cuisine. Because we did not stop eating, the waiter seemed slightly annoyed that we kept asking for more naan (which was odd because it is a buffet) but other than that they were extremely attentive. Didn't take any pictures because we were hungry and already dug in! Started with masala pappar, chili chicken, and grilled paneer tikkas for appetizers. I recommend them all! For dinner our party of 20 on Mother's day shared egg curry (made special with grated egg instead of whole boiled eggs), paneer mahkanwala, malai kofta, palak paneer, dry manchurian, and chicken keema. All medium spiced and it was perfect. We of course got a ton of garlic naans and onion/chilis on the side to round out the meal. Great, quick service. Small, cozy space. AMAZING FOOD! I ordered delivery and got the chicken vindaloo and the lamb chops, along with some appetizers. The vindaloo was incredible, and the lamb chops really surprised me with their perfect crispness and flavor. I haven't stopped thinking about the meal since last night. Sigh..... I went here this past weekend for dinner, on a Saturday night, at 8pm. We had a party of 20, and called at 6 to see if they could take us. The manager on the phone said "yes, but I have a large party coming in at 930, so...." Basically, he was worried that we'd overstay. Not the best first impression, but it's Saturday night and we have a party of 20.... We got there and the place was empty. We sat, asked for drinks and water, and sat. And sat. And sat. I had to ask for water twice more, and my lassi was warm. Basically, service was absolutely horrible. The table next to us sat there for over an hour waiting for food, and we were already done and ready to pay the check. When they said "please cancel" the waiter said "well it's already done!" Well, if it was already done, WHY HAVE YOU NOT SERVED IT! It wasn't already done, they sat for another 20 minutes waiting. There were three tables of 2-4 that came in, got served, and left, in the time between placing our order and them being dropped to the table. And while I understand that it was a "big party," they served all the tables in our party (we were split up across 5 tables) individually. So table 1 was served, and done well before we (at table 3) even had our orders taken. While I was a little disappointed with my Biriyani (only a few pieces of meat, 99% rice - ripoff for $17, really), everyone else's foods were good, and the naan was pretty tasty. At least the chicken tikka masala was really great. I'd give this place 4 stars if it weren't for the horrendous, and at times rude, service. Tadka is a buffet style lunch costs 9.95 for anything you can eat from a variety of 8 vegetarian dishes and two types of meats always chicken. The lunch is served with 2 nan bread for dipping .the service is always great and attentive. You can order other foods if you are not up to buffet lunch. The menu is quite diverse and many options. The place has a nice decor and a great wait staff. The food was very delicious. I kept going back not only for the chicken dishes but for the vegetarian ones as well.
