After a few months, I decided to check out PT based on a friend's suggestion. My physical therapist, Elyse, was phenomenal. She's knowledgeable and approachable, and was happy to answer the *endless* questions I had about my exercises, how strengthening works, preventative measures, etc. She was incredibly patient with me, working to explain everything because it was essentially my first time doing rigorous exercise, and reassuring me that I would be able to walk and run like normal again! I started out limping and one month later, I was jogging across the room. What I found most helpful at BSM was that Elyse would model the exercises first, correct me as I was doing them, and then emailed me a list of what to do at home. Not only was my PT professional, but she was also kind, warm, and friendly. Our sessions never felt burdensome because we chatted throughout them; Elyse is very good at building rapport! I highly recommend BSM for its great staff and customer service skills, as well as care during COVID. My successful healing definitely wouldn't have been possible without PT and Elyse's encouragement and guidance!

The volume of patients in this practice is far beyond the capacity of the space and the staff. It's not a calming or healing place at all and you will feel like you are just a body part on a conveyor belt. You cannot be confident that your provider will respond to your outreach at all, let alone in a timely manner. So much of recovery is about not just body, but mind and spirit. People have to feel seen, cared for, and humanized in order to heal. This company's business model is fundamentally in conflict with those objectives.

My recovery has been frustrating, with a few post-op complications, so I was looking for alternative treatments. Dr. Glenn performed ART at this session, which he believes I can really benefit from. I have my follow up scheduled next week! I live about an hour away, but worth the drive! I saw Dr. Kayla Serowik and Dr. Christine Frechette for physical therapy, and both of them were amazing. Not only did they show me the exercise to treat my issues, they also helped educate me on what I could do to prevent future injuries. On top of that, they were both incredibly patient and encouraging - therapeutic on multiple levels! I also get sports massages from Michelle Herrmann, and this has been a game changer. I have gone to a wide variety of skilled massage therapists (sports, deep tissue, Thai, etc.), and Michelle is the best, by far. Her massages are so healing and have helped my performance so much, as well as stave off potential injuries! Before going to Wellness in Motion, I really struggled to progress in any sport because I got injured so often. Now, with the amazing combination of physical therapy and sports massages, my body is healthier and stronger than it has been in over 20 years! Incredibly grateful for this place. However, during my appointment and after listing all my symptoms and how gynecologists have told my I have suspected endometriosis, I was told by Kristine that I don't have that during muscle testing. I was shocked at such a bold statement ONLY because it went against the "I am not a doctor" statement I was told. I convinced myself this woman had a strong intuition until my chronic pelvic pain did not subside from the tinctures I was given. Which ... they weren't supposed to. It was only something western medicine could handle. Here I am two weeks post op with all endometriosis excised from my bladder and deep from my pelvis. So, Yes. I did have that. But the point of this review is that I was told I didn't have something..... when I absolutely did. It did not align with the " I am not a doctor" which I was told twice. If you are not a doctor, then how come I am being told I don't have something? Everything was very speedy and rushed... but I am assuming that is all because routine is the same for every person. Listen to symptoms, muscle test, and send home with 2-3 tinctures/ vitamins. Waiting for the western medicine and natural path world to align and become one instead of being so separate from each other!!! Hopefully one day. I see reviews that this practice is a scam, I think it is in some ways, but for some people (especially when their symptoms are mental, body is low in vitamins, contains parasites, etc. ) it could really help but it seems to be an expensive guessing game that is for sure.

Actually a very natural remedy did recently, but nothing that was done during this appointment or following. I am not sure how what she does helps people with digestive issues and I don't think she should be advertising that she can help with that. I also don't think she should be ripping people off with such a high initial price point when there are no guarantees and what she does is pretty hard to believe as legitimate. She has a chronic problem, so there is no easy fix, but they took the time to really assess the problem and provided exercise to help. Lo and behold, I found myself in need of PT when the practice at my HMO was filled. I asked if I could go to this practice instead, and I am glad I did. They really take the time to understand the "why" of your problem. I appreciate that they do that and not just throw exercises at you. I was trying to balance PT with recommendations from other health care providers, and it was confusing when the recommendations conflicted, especially about what I should be eating. I feel like there still could be meaningful ways to engage in PT, but now I feel like I'm defective, and it's me as the person who's the waste of time. I thought things were going okay, but the way it ended, especially so abruptly, was extremely upsetting. I'll heal on my own or find someone who can work around my other challenges.

As a forty-something probably-too-sedentary female body owner, it's great that I can talk to Maegen about anything body related. Her office was where I first learned that my knee, hip, and back pain would actually improve if I rolled out my IT band more. I learned that one of the best predictors of falls as people get older is challenges with balance, so we included some exercises for strength and balance to help distribute weight better during movement. My son was also having challenges with pain and fatigue while walking. She worked with him, chatting about Minecraft or whatever he was interested in talking about, and gave us some exercises that are easy for him to do. I haven't heard any more complaints. I also learned that PT in Massachusetts doesn't need a referral, so while her practice doesn't process insurance claims with your insurance company, her documentation is great, and I have had every single claim to my policy that covers out-of-network providers approved on the first try (YMMV based on your insurance). So while I love my PCP, if it's anything remotely muscle or movement related, I just go straight to Maegen. Maegan offers a number of methods, including massage, dry needling, traditional PT, and whatever muscle-whisperer magic she does in between. It's all very easy but works so well. Maegen is super motivating, and Union Square PT is a treasure of Union Square.
