I was planning a company ski trip to Tahoe for about 50 people last week, when all of a sudden the weather took a turn, making our initial travel plans less than viable. The team at Tahoe Ski Trips was able to get us set up with a charter bus from SF to Tahoe on extremely short notice. Our rep Tim took care of everything and was an absolute joy to work with. He made sure we had everything we needed and checked in with me throughout the trip. Even alerting us to possible road closures on our day of departure and helped make sure we got out of Tahoe in time before being snowed in! Our bus driver John was also amazing - what a trooper! He maintained such a positive demeanor the entire time, even when he got stuck driving in traffic for 5 hours in a blizzard! I only wish I had contacted them sooner, because they could have been my one-stop-shop for planning the entire trip. I'm so thankful we opted for the bus - it was way more comfortable, and way safer thank carpooling and driving ourselves in a massive snow storm! Ok- after 3 more days with Tahoe Ski Trips, updating review to 5 stars. Yes the leg room is still limited, but the other amenities override this one inconvenience. Later I went to Kirkwood with TST while it was snowing. Buses from all other companies turned around, cancelled, and drove back, but TST buses made it. They had to stop and put on chains- the host Anthony (Tony), another host, and the bus driver were busting their asses to get the chains on. We still got to Kirkwood by 10 am while it was snowing! The apres ski spread had chili AND pulled pork sandwiches! (As well as Cuties, cookies, pub mix, wine, and water). Then we went on the 2 day trip to Squaw and Sierra for St Patrick's Day weekend. $400 pp including transportation, lodging, 2 breakfasts, lift tickets, and 2 apres ski spreads. Not bad at all! For St Patty's day, they had an especially nice apres ski event with corned beef, meat and veggie burgers BBQ'd on site, and make it yourself s'mores. They raffled off a snowboard, other stuff and a Subaru! Anthony was the host again and he was great. Lastly and most importantly, Tahoe Ski Trips have hosts who are friendly, organized, and timely. Extremely unprofessional and shady operation. We purchased a Groupon and used it to book a 12/29 trip for my daughter to go to Heavenly and meet up with her friends. TST instructions were to meet and board a bus in SF at 5am, which my daughter did. It was not until they were well en route that the bus driver informed her that the bus was actually not going to Heavenly, but to Sierra. She was traveling alone, panicked, and called me. I called TST, however the phone # on their website did not work ("Number busy" message..or just hung up instantly). My "urgent" email to them was not responded to for 2 days. In the meantime, my 18yr old daughter, traveling alone, was left stranded 20miles from her destination and needed to spend an additional $60 for a Lyft to reach Heavenly. When TST finally responded to my email, they claimed to have contacted us via phone and email to notify us of the Heavenly trip's cancelation. However neither my daughter nor I have any record of a missed call, voicemail, or email from them. When I was finally able to reach Kevin, the owner, he was defensive and unsympathetic, and refused to refund me the $53 I paid (the least I felt they could do given the situation they put my daughter through). We booked the reservation online just 2 days before the trip. I suspect that they may have cancelled the trip before we made the booking, but did not update their website. If that was the case, I certainly don't understand why they would not take ownership of the mistake and instead insist on arguing over whether or not they had "tried" to call (again, even if they did call, why not leave a vmail??) read more

I took a day trip to Squaw with Tahoe Ski Trips this weekend, and Sandra and Reza were great hosts for the trip. I really appreciated that they provided breakfast for us once we got closer to the resort, and also loved the hot food that we got for Apres Ski. They were super friendly and organized and ensured that everything went smoothly. The whole process of loading and unloading the skis was very efficient, so we were really able to maximize our time on the slopes. The bus was clean and comfortable, and Earl was a fantastic driver. We had a safety issue with Tahoe Ski Trips, which resulted in a group not attending. I reached out to Amanda, the owner, to give her a chance to address the issue. She informed me that I was incorrect and that the ski trip went well. Fine. Well, Turned out Alpine and the CHP contacted me sharing conflicting information. The roads severely compromised and the lifts clouds at noon. Sorry, but lying for monetary gain is NOT something I can appreciate. Our group is out $1k. I like the Bay Area ski bus. They do a good job of getting you to the mountain and back. They are quite poor with communications though. I have had a number of strange experiences. Once I was on a trip that got cancelled due to low attendance. They did not call me to inform me, but rather sent an email from their marketing account which ended up in spam folder. SO I showed up at the pickup at 5am and there is NOBODY TO CALL when this happens. You have no point of contact or resources to get help from anybody on the day-of. No way to confirm if you are in the right place or not. Another time, I received a strange Group Text stating the bus was gonna depart at 4:30am (schedule stated 5:30am ) from a random number that did not identify themselves in any way. Then as multiple riders questioned the start time wondering if they were really changing it - nobody ever responded. The next morning there was a follow up saying the start time was sent in error and it was really at 5:30am as usual. Not very helpful or professional. On a separate occasion, I emailed to ask them for guidance on where to park at Rockridge bart pickup. They said to use the street parking or pay for bart parking. Well, all the street parking around there is 2-hour limit, and they didn't give any advice on where there might be free full day parking, and they also told me I would not need to buy a BART train ticket to pay for parking which was plain WRONG. You do need to buy a train ticket and then go through the turnstile to pay for parking. Not to mention it is against BART rules to park at a station if you are not a rider, they don't seem to worried about that. Why make a pickup at a location like this that has no convenient places to park for 8+ hours? Where it is blatantly against the rules to use the lot they are asking you to park in. I found these communication issues were quite frustrating, and the TST folks certainly did not seem to care about my experience one bit as I tried to discuss this with them via email they just ignore it. Ultimately, they give what they claim to give which is a bus ride to the mountain. But they are much more interested in begging you to use their social media hashtags, then actually addressing customer concerns with their service. read more

I just went on the Tahoe Ski bus to Kirkwood yesterday and let me tell you, I had the best time and this will be the first of many trips! Despite the bus being late (which I heard actually has never happened before from a man who has gone 6x in the past month), the courtesy of the hosts definitely made up for it (thanks Mike & Derek -- Mike was like the most kind guy ever!). I've taken a few trips to Tahoe while visiting friends and family. Each time it's been great. The hosts always do the best they can to get us up and back. Highly recommend Tahoe Ski Trips. I've taken it 5 times this year, and every time has been great. One time snow caused us to be a bit delayed, but like, that'd happen driving up in a car too. That's just called weather. The whole procedure is done very professionally, efficiently, and friendly. My favorite part is they offer trips on Fridays. I don't know any other bus company or ride-share group to Tahoe that does this. If you can take a Friday off now and then, skiing on a weekend is way nicer than skiing on a weekend, and this is the way to do it. I only wish I had known about this when I was a teenager and constantly bugging my parents to drive up to Tahoe. read more

First time rider here! I had a great experience with Tahoe Ski Trips. Making a reservation online is really easy and the rules are pretty clear, so make sure you allow yourself plenty of time to arrive and get loaded onto the bus before departure because they leave ON TIME. It's a nice motor coach with a restroom, and there are light snacks on the way up and a hot meal and beverages at the end of the day before heading back. On this trip (12/21/19), Santiago, KS, Brad, and Mike took great care of us and made sure everyone had what they needed to be comfortable. This is a great way to get up to your favorite resorts and back same day without having to make the drive. I'll definitely be back - highly recommended. read more

Tahoe Ski Trips is a really solid company. My daughter and I had never went skiing before, so we called and Amanda informed us of all the options, she was very helpful. The bus was clean, left on time, and the ride to the resort was smooth. The breakfast was much more than a "continental breakfast", my daughter enjoyed the jalapeno bagel. Although the ski resort was busy, we were able to bypass much of the commotion because the host (I think his name is Kevin) instructed us where to go for rentals, it was really simple. The day skiing was fantastic, a incredible way to bond with my daughter. Later, Tahoe Ski Trips provided a BBQ Tailgate Party, it was very tasty. I liked the chili (and draft beer) and my daughter ate 2 large hot dogs! Tahoe Ski Trips puts together a great 1 day ski trip package from the Bay Area. The price is hard to beat for transportation, food, drink, and lift ticket. The staff were great, helpful and made the trip fun. We were well fed and given everything we needed to have a great day on the slopes. If you're considering Tahoe Ski Trips, I'd highly recommend them as you're top choice for getting to and from the slopes. I've used other buses and I can tell you the drivers weren't nearly as good as Tahoe Ski Trips. On another bus the drivers brake hard and drive erratically () but Tahoe Ski Bus drivers we're smooth and safe (also good if you actually want to sleep). The morning pickup was EARLY but we got to the slopes on time so very worth it. The upper mountain closed by lunch so it was very clutch that we made it up there at opening. On the way up they gave us juice, water, bagels, yogurt and hard boiled eggs (solid pre ski meal). Coffee would be amazing, but I'm sure it's hard on the bus. We arrived on time to the slopes and waited a bit for tickets before getting going. They lock the bus during the day so the driver can sleep so be sure to take your necessary things with you. I just skied with a backpack so I knew I had what I needed. Getting back to the bus at 3:45 we had apres ski food and drink waiting, which was amazing. Nothing top shelf but it was just what was needed to recover a bit - it was good to get some food in before heading back. Don't miss out on eating food before you leave or you'll be very hungry on the bus. We had ham and cheese sandwiches, wine, beer, chili, cookies and some assorted other snacks as well as coffee and hot chocolate. It was a great spread, especially for the price you pay for the trip. Some helpful tips/feedback: - if you're looking for a luxury service, this isn't it. You get a lot for the price and it's a fantastic experience but they aren't serving hors d'oeuvres and champagne. No one does that unless you pay a private charter. That being said, the food is what you need and they're very generous. - you will be exhausted after one day...it's a long day and you'll get back around 8:30-9:30 at night. - the bus is a bit on the cramped side for someone above 6' tall...especially when the seats are reclined. - the bus seemed to have WiFi but it didn't work. I also neglected to ask but it would have been nice to (1) have WiFi provided if they don't actually have it and (2) provide instructions. - the seats in front were reserved for staff and supplies. I understand the reason for this but it would also be great to have some of those seats open for us with the supplies in the back by the bathroom. I'm sure the car sick prone people would love to be up front. - the staff had a lot of mountain knowledge to share, which is awesome, but it would also be great to have that shared on the site as well. For example, which chairs to get to, the better restaurants, where we can get WiFi on the mountain, etc. - other useful information would be where to park around the pickup spots. In SF, there are a ton of restricted parking areas so I was lucky enough to find a street with no hourly limit. It's important to know in case you're short on time to meet the bus. - I skied alone, which I was okay with being a more advanced skier, but it would also have been nice to buddy up with someone and ski for a bit. It might be a good option to ask everyone what level they are and if they're solo at registration time so those people could be given the opportunity to group up with others of similar skill during the day. Skiing alone made me hesitant to get deep into the trees since falling in a tree well would end very badly for someone skiing alone like me. read more

Don't get an 8 pack. If you must ride with this company, get a single ticket, so that it's easier to get a refund if they cancel the trip. If it's a recent purchase, your credit card company can back you up, but if a few months have passed, they can't. I purchased an 8 pack at the beginning of the season, but ran into trouble at the end of the season when TST cancelled all their late April and May trips, including the ones I'd signed up for using the last 2 of my 8 pack. Reason for cancelling? 12 empty seats on a bus that seats 50+. They abruptly ended the season after those 2 cancellations, even though they'd promised to run trips "for as long as Heavenly is open" which, this year, is Memorial Day. We are having an amazing late season - I was skiing fresh light powder on May 19, but had to drive myself up there, instead of using my now-useless prepaid bus trips. After being very responsive from a sales perspective, Kevin Larroque ghosted when I asked for a refund or credit towards next season for my 2 cancelled trips. He finally gave a vague reply then ghosted again. I had to find alternate transport earlier in the season too, since TST didn't really take the Tahoe Local pass-holders into consideration, running trips to kirkwood on Saturdays instead of Sundays, and no other Vail resorts some weekends. This turned out to be kind of a good thing, since I discovered another ski bus company that is cheaper, more efficient, and offers inexpensive one-way tickets. I'll definitely be using them more next season. read more

I recently had the opportunity to try a ski bus trip for myself and I would have to say that it was a great experience. I desperately needed a PPD (Personal Powder Day), and wanted to go on a weekday when I had a day off, so that I could still spend time with my family during the weekend. They were the only company to offer weekday trips. Well, Tahoe Ski Trips could not have made it any easier. I simply went online and booked my ticket about 16 hours before my departure. The bus was scheduled to depart Milpitas for Northstar at 4am and when I got there at 3:50 a.m. the bus looked like it had already been there for awhile and many patrons loading or already loaded. The bus departed at 4:01 a.m. and arrived and departed the next 2 pick up locations within 5 minutes of their scheduled times. Everything throughout the process was prompt, professional, efficient and smooth. They had overhead bins for storage just like being on an airplane. They also provided free wifi and outlet sockets for every passenger. A small bathroom in the back was handy. Lights on the bus were kept off and quiet time observed for sleeping until about 7:45 a.m. when our bus hosts Dave and Michael announced that there will be some slowdowns that morning due to chain controls but that they promise to get us there in plenty of time for fresh powder skiing. At 8:00 they started handing out breakfast items. These included an assortment of bagels, cream cheese, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, juice and water. They served us while our driver Scott swiftly pulled over and installed chains on the bus while constantly monitoring the road conditions with Cal Trans and other sources. It was snowing on 80 that morning but nothing too heavy. Then around 8:45 a.m. they announced we would be arriving in about another 30 minutes. Despite chain installation time and chain removal time and some traffic due to chain controls, and a pick-up in San Francisco, and then Walnut Creek, we still arrived at the Northstar Parking lot around 9:15 a.m. that morning. The staff was quick to let us out and allowed us to get our gear out of the ski and boot storage. Then they checked off which of us needed to pick up our ski lift tickets that were purchased with the bus package. While waiting in the short line, they provided packets of hot cider or hot chocolate you could make yourself with the hot water thermos they had set up. Before we knew it, a Northstar shuttle showed up and whisked us off to the Village. Upon heading back, an Apres-Ski party was waiting for us at the parking lot in front of the buses. We were offered party pub pretzel snack varieties, fruits, yogurt and piping hot beef and/or vegetarian chili. They also offered water, beverage varieties and beer and wine! There was even a portable fire pit with s'mores! Throughout the trip coming and going, our hosts Dave and Michael always checked in on everyone to make sure things were going smoothly and that they were available should we need anything or had any questions. They were like flight attendants for bus trips but so happy to be doing their job and just wanting to make sure all the passengers were having a good time and promising us an awesome day on the slopes. They were indeed correct, I had one of my best ski powder days ever, and will not hesitate to book them again the next time I am in need of a PPD or even just a girls ski trip! read more

I had the opportunity to take the Tahoe ski trips bus on 2/2/19 to Squaw Valley and I'd have to say I was quite surprised by the excellent service provided by Dave and his partner Tarvin (which I am sure I butchered his name). The bus was on time at 4am and although due to delays of having to put on show chains, we were able to arrive at the resort around 9:30am. The after party was enjoyable with refreshments and food such as sandwich's and soup that hit the spot after a long day of shredding the pow. the ride back was a little bumpy but I was able to sleep through the majority of it okay. I was supposed to have a 5 am pickup at Rockridge BART station this morning. I was there with my gear at 4:50 waiting by the entrance to the station where the city busses stop and the taxis wait. I assumed this was the place to wait because there were no instructions otherwise. I waited there until 5:25 with just me and some homeless people and one guy who got on a city bus. No bus came. And no bus came through the upper parking lot. It's possible that there was a bus in the lower parking lot, which can't be seen from the main Bart entrance, but the pick-up instructions did not say to go to the lower parking lot. I tried calling the Tahoe Ski Trips number after googling the number because there was no number in my confirmation email. No answer and I left a message. I also sent an email. I still haven't heard back and it's almost 6 hours later. It was a real disappointment to pack and get up really early for a day of skiing and not have that happen. Update: I bumped them up to three stars because they did respond to my email the next day and stated that they credited my account for the Groupon that I used added an additional $20 for the trouble. Note:if you are picked up at Rockridge BART station, go to the parking lot on the west side of College Ave, which is not in view from the main entrance and escalators. read more

Great bus ride! I took the kick off party trip on 01/04/20 to squaw, i got picked up at the Walnut Creek park and ride (my closest pick up option) and the bus arrived right on time. The bus was very clean and there was over head storage space. Once we started heading to Tahoe they turned off the lights so the passengers could sleep then they served a small breakfast as the sun was coming up. They had bagels, yogurt juice and the like, it was pretty good. Once we arrived they gave out the tickets for the packages you bought. I had a awesome time on the slopes then when I went back to the bus they had snacks and drinks, they also had games and other food since it was 2020 kickoff party.
