I've been to both the Springfield and Drexel Hill locations. Lucy at Drexel Hill is great. It is best to make an appointment. Walk ins are welcome, but I have been turned away. I have waited 15 minutes for an appointment. For a 30 min massage- you get a towel put over your body and they do deep pressure points from neck to feet (approx 5 mins) Then they remove towel and work on your back approx 25 mins. Then hot stone approx five mins. I usually have pain in my neck from migraines and I ask them to focus on this area. They do my whole back but to a great job focusing on the knots found when I ask! read more

One of the best massage place. I love deep tissue because I have pretty tense muscle around my upper back and shoulder area. The massage therapist spent the time working out all the little knots and the pressure is just right. The people there are very nice and courteous. The price is reasonable. However their "rooms" are separated by dividers so if you want absolute privacy this might not be for you. You can't see other people but you can certainly hear them. My friend and I decided to get a 30 minute reflexology foot massage and a 1 hr deep tissue. This was the best massage I've had in years. Niko, was very nice, professional and her technique was great. My friend felt the same way about her massage therapist. I've been to most of the upscale spas in Philadelphia and the surrounding area and paid twice as much and wasn't completely satisfied with the service. As many of the other reviewers have stated, if you are looking for walls then you won't find them here. However, the experience will make you forget that there are only curtains and dividers. My husband and I were in Springfield and found this spa on Yelp. We had deep tissue massages and really enjoyed them. They used hot stones, as well as traditional massage techniques. The spa itself is very minimalist, just an open area with "cubes" separated by Asian-style wall dividers. It's very like spas in Asia, run by a group of Chinese massage therapists -- we lived in Asia for nine years, so it felt quite normal and comfortable to us, but it's not a fancy day spa. My only complaints were (1) they use timers that make a really loud beeping sound when your massage is finished, and (2) strangely, they only massaged our backs (never turned us over for a massage on the front side of our bodies). Other than those, I'd definitely recommend it. They take walk-ins, are reasonably priced, and the massages themselves were really quite good. read more

I've passed Taiji a few times on my way to Martindale's, and finally decided to give them a try. Since I'd never had foot reflexology, I settled on that as my evening treat for a long day of hiking. It was absolutely amazing! They first give you a foot soak, then a scrub, and then the massage. I liked that they used unscented oil and that they take special care not to get it on your clothing. As the last reviewer mentioned, this is not a deluxe spa, but rather a place where actual therapy and healing takes place. It is sparse, but in an authentic, natural way. A really great, reasonably priced, no frills deep tissue massage and foot reflexology. I go often and stay between 30-45 minutes. The stations are separated by curtains, and you should come in quietly to respect others. The place is clean, and the soothing music adds to the experience. Everyone is so nice. My husband and I went here for a couples massage.(My first massage ever) Overall the massage and Customer Service was amazing! They did a great job on the massage. If you want more details keep reading below... Atmosphere: just like we read on another review, it's private but separated by dividers and curtains. Not rooms or walls. Still private but you hear any little bit of noise which was not much. Noise level: a little noise, the spa music is very relaxing and soothing but you do hear people coming in and out of the front door and you hear little conversations of those who don't know how to whisper. But again, not much noise. They have timers that go off when customers are done with massages but they turn them off quickly as they can. Cleanliness: Everything was very clean, smells good, they use huge towels to cover your body, they use new soft paper towels for where you lay your head/put your face during your massage. They have clean tissue paper on the massage table bed like a docs office. Language: It was fine. I read somewhere that they don't speak English. Yes they do speak English but not much... They know the basics; You just have to listen and try to make out what they are saying because of the accent. Customer Service: We booked our appointment over the phone two days in advance. It took me a few seconds to catch onto the accent and understand but once I did we both understood each other and we booked with no issues. When we got there, the lady at the front desk was very nice and asked if we had an appointment and then showed us to our separate areas but right next to each other where I could still hear my spouse. The masseuses were super nice and polite! They were smiling and talked in a calmly manner. Very respectful and very helpful. The massages: WOW! My husband said it was the very best massage he's ever gotten. For me, it was my first massage and I am very impressed and will go back sometime. They did a full deep tissue massage and started off very soft, light and it just felt so good! I almost fell asleep. My masseuse's name was Sahn. I believe that's how you spell it. Sahn was amazing with that massage! She asked if it hurt and if it did I'd respond with yes or no. When I said it did hurt, she eased up. She focused on my back for the most part but that was where I needed the massage the most. She was able to figure out where I was most tense which was my lower and upper back, shoulders and back of my neck. She also massaged my feet, toes, top of bum, legs, arms, temple, neck, ankles and thighs. Toward the end of the massage, she used hot stones and rubbed them down and then back up my back, I think twice! Omg, felt amazing. I wish I had more time with the hot stones. The oil they used felt so good, warm and smelled good as well. At the end, a little after the timer goes off, they finish up the massage but still take their time... they use a hot cloth to wipe all the oil off of your body. Felt amazing... Well done Sahn! From the words of my husband: They are great with their hands! Best massages ever. Price: For one person $60 for 60 mins. So we paid $120. That was a great price and worth it. I was looking to get some acupuncture done and this place was close and had a ton of solid reviews. I was able to make an appointment the same day and was greeted by a very nice gentleman. Everything was explained to me about the procedure. The procedure itself was different, but not uncomfortable. He even pointed out to me what I already knew, but didn't say anything about. Amazing. Period. I woke up with numbness in my fingers, I knew I pinched a nerve or injured something. I described my numbness, and they immediately knew where I injured my vertebrae, addresses the exact areas, helped the blood flow back to normal. 30 minutes of acupressure later, pain and numbness immediately gone. I'm a regular at Taiji for a reason. They have consistently reasonable prices and great service. The therapists I've worked with tend to blend a variety of techniques, including swedish, acupressure, and hot stone treatments. They also do foot massage and acupuncture there. To the reviewer who complained of noise and talking, you must have come on an off day because it's always dead silent in there. They play relaxing Eastern music, keep transactions to a whisper, and keep the lights low. And all the staff have always been very kind and polite. I always feel relaxed and rejuvenated when I come out of there. Their pricing system is probably the most reasonable I've encountered, and they frequently do specials around holidays. They also have a book where they stamp your card and after a certain number of visits, you earn a free massage, as well as referral discounts. read more

Decided to try this place out and get a couples massage with my husband. This was my 3rd massage, my husbands 1st. My first issue was we weren't even in the same room. Just beside each other which kind of defeats the purpose of a "couples massage". The second issue was the noise. When I get a massage, I want silence. Background music is fine! But when I can hear the other employees talking and watching tv, I have an issue. Also, both my masseuse and my husbands were yelling to other employees during our massage! About halfway through another customer came in for a massage and was extremely loud and obnoxious. It was incredibly distracting. Not to mention, I could hear him breathing throughout his whole massage. Lastly, the caliber of massage was very mediocre. We were covered in bath towels rather then warm blankets. It was a very amatuer massage. I felt very disappointed. After paying I was asked by my masseuse where her tip was! That makes me cringe! I feel like it's incredibly rude to ask for a tip. Overall a very disappointing experience. More disappointed for my husband as it was his first massage. Will need to find somewhere better to give him a real massage experience! read more

I brought my 4.5 year old son there for a special mommy/son activity of foot massages. This is not a place designed for kids, but they welcomed us anyways. They took great care of him: got him something to suck on when he sounded congested, tissues too, and made the massage just the right intensity for a little guy. My foot massage was really strong and I could feel all of those tiny neglected muscles relax. As previous reviewers have mentioned, the massage areas are only separated by screens. So, I'd only bring a kid if they could truly be silent for the entire period. Otherwise, you definitely would be disturbing others! I use this place quite a bit. I have had foot reflexology and full massages. Some of the therapists are better than others but they all give a good, hard (if you want it) massage that leaves you feeling quite relaxed. There was one review that complained about the atmosphere -- for a couples massage. Ridiculous. You can tell this place is no frills and frankly that's what most people appreciate about it. If you want a luxurious spa environment, go to an expensive spa. For me it's just not worth it as the massages here are wonderful at a reasonable price. read more

I went yesterday w/ a friend to relax. We asked for each a 30 min foot massage. The woman at the front is the person who answers the phone etc. We wanted them at the same time so only one woman could do it, so the receptionist decided to do it and be the 2nd therapist.. She was my therapist. I have been going to this place for a bit and only have seen her in the front.(she is much older than the other woman) Anyway we were both sitting in the back, and they started...they were chatting in another language which was distracting, but not unbearable. My therapist was awful. Since she was supposed to be upfront she brought the phone w/ her. It rang & she answered. So at that point she was barely using one hand. (It get's worse) then someone comes in the front door, SHE LEAVES ME!!! I wanted to get up & walk out!! I regret not doing so! This was completely unprofessional and unacceptable. I said something to the other therapist and when mine came back she said something to her. My therapist said I will give you 3 min. Like that was supposed to make me feel better?? During the whole massage the therapist was not focused & she was rushing.They put hot towels on your legs at the end. My friend had his leg's blotted w/ a dry towel. Me? I had wet legs and my therapist just quickly pulled my pant legs down. We both did not tip. Instead of feeling relaxed I felt angry & stressed. :( I won't be back . I walked out more stressed than when I walked in. A complete waste of $30. read more
