Have gone to Green Life many times. I like it for its convenience and for typically not needing to make an appointment. The therapists all do a decent job. My issues with the place are two-fold. First is the therapists will occasionally yell to one another which ruins the mood. The second is that they don't manage the time allotment and never have time remaining for my chest and front of legs. I try to ask them to save time, but most don't speak English. I've been coming here for over 5 years and get the BEST deep tissue massages from Sunny and Ming. Sunny Is incredibly strong, applies amazing steady pressure and works out my knots. He knows just what to do. Sunny is the best. Great value, clean, efficient and affordable. If you don't like deep tissue this may not be that place for you. I really wanted to like this place because I want to support the local business and all, but I cannot. I came specifically for neck and shoulder pain and told Lucy the masseuse who took me, and she negotiated with me (I showed her the 20% off offer from Yelp - she seemed surprised and said "$50, ok? $50" to which I agreed although 20% off $60 would be $48... no big deal) She seemed to be pretty decent once she got started, but then something unthinkable happened - they switched on me! 5 minutes in, Lucy had to step out for a sec and when she returned, suddenly the strokes were so weak and was not focusing on the problem areas. So though I didn't want to be rude, I had to stop the massage and ask, "Lucy?" Silence. I asked again, "You are Lucy, right?" Then this person said "...No." and LUCY from outside finally and hastily said, "I do appointments" in a deflective tone. Really? Do you take me for a fool? Not only have I already read about you giving good massages, but also, do you really think I'll believe that you just do appointments? Also, if you have to step away from your client, then at least have the decency to explain why and tell the person replacing you what they need to work on. I also got to see the masseuse - she was an older, rather obese woman who frankly looked like she didn't have any business being in a massage spa. Each time she leaned in her belly and chest would be rubbing into me which was not pleasant though not her fault. Her skill was also really mediocre and she spoke zero English so I asked her if I could make a phone call and got her to talk to my Chinese-speaking friend on the phone to explain that I don't want to continue with this $50 massage if they can't even give what I came for. She agreed that I'd try for 5 more minutes and walk out if I decide that I do not like it. I said okay. I felt bad. Really bad. The woman was just trying to do her job, but she was not trained properly. At all. I ended up staying because 1) I did not want to make her feel so bad and 2) Even if I could get my knots out 50%, I'd rather that than nothing. She kept on trying to use her elbows ... which is just not a good technique so I had to motion her to stop using elbows. She then went to elbows again few minutes later... I didn't say anything at that point. She kept on saying "Sorry" to which I said "No, it's okay. Thank you." Once this "body-caressing exercise" was done, it took her a while to run the card for $50 and the slip didn't have any line for writing in the tip because she didn't know how to operate the terminal, so I just put in the $5 bill which was the only thing I had in my wallet. It was less than what I'd normally pay but this was one of those rare moments that I thought the experienced justified this lower tip. I just wanted to leave at that point, so just thanked her for her troubles and left. I was very disappointed and also puzzled - In North NJ/NYC area where I'm from, I go to no-frills Chinese places that offer twice the quality of massage at $40, with much brighter and cleaner atmosphere. But I figure that majority of clientele here might not be as discerning customers with years of experience going to massage spas and not know what's really good and what's not good... because this would not fly for a minute. Although this is just a guess (it actually happens a lot, my Chinese friend told me), I suspect that this Chinese business owner just hires poor unemployed and often undocumented Chinese immigrants from Flushing/Chinatown NYC and exploit them by giving them crap pay to just get them some work. My therapist sure looked like that - speaking almost zero English, and just looked fearful saying "Sorry" over and over. Train your employees properly, pay them good wages, and do a better job overall. Til then, skip this one. It's probably the worst massage experience in like 20 years of going to both expensive and inexpensive ones. read more

Was going to be in the area for the weekend and wanted to plan something for the boyfriend and I to do. Found a Groupon for a 60 minute couples massage, called to book on Tuesday and showed up first thing Saturday morning for our appointment. The spa is actually inside the mall (I had difficulty finding it as no one told me), on the first floor next to Boscovs. The place was very clean, we arrived before they opened and they were mopping and wiping everything down. The rooms are just partitioned off using larger versions of Asian-style room dividers so they are open at the top ("walls" do not go to ceiling) and the entrance is blocked by a curtain. All things considered the noise level was not bad; they of course had the spa music playing but you could def hear people talking, employees cleaning, etc. I did not find it had enough where it took away from the experience. Now I don't know if this is because it's in a mall, or it's just how they operate, but we were told to only take our shirts off and to leave our pants on. Different than any other spa I've been to but in the end I didn't find it made much of a difference. The first half of the massage was done entirely through the sheet so I was initially concerned, but afterwards he pulled the sheet down to my waist and broke out the oils (and later the hot stones!). Prior to starting I was not asked if I had any areas that needed attention (like they would typically do at other places I've been). Clearly it's because they know how to tell what areas to focus on because this guy worked every knot, kink, and stiffness in my back. This was not a soft touch massage... there were times that it was downright painful. I'm sure if I'd asked him to go softer he would have, but I trusted him to use the pressure needed to make me feel better in the end. And I was right. I got off the table feeling like a bowl of jelly, but everything felt so much more relaxed and noticeably less tense. I was hesitant because of some of the reviews I read before purchasing the Groupon but I would def recommend this place. The one frustration I had was there was a serious language barrier (most of the employees barely spoke English at all) but I give them credit for trying as I know how hard it is to learn another language!! But it did make things a bit difficult especially with check in process and them explaining the process. read more

We decided to try this place out for the first time after having our eye on it quite some time. The atmosphere was very relaxing and welcoming. The massage was really good and I enjoyed it. The one complaint I have is that every time he tried to use more pressure the whole table moved. It didn't help me stay relaxed and then once that happened a few times he stopped putting so much pressure on my back which is what I really needed. I will definitely give this place a second try. I really hope they do something though to stabilize the massage tables. read more

Decided to get a couples massage with my wife after Mother's Day, I called up two days prior and asked about the Groupon offer of $89 for a couples massage of 60 minutes each. The person I spoke with said I did not need the Groupon and that they would honor $90 for the entire massage. We went and walked right in without a problem, the people who took care of us were quiet and polite. The massages were extremely deep and at times a bit painful. It is now 16 hours later and myself and my wife are both very sore. When we went to pay I gave $120 and was told that it was not enough. I explain to them what I had been told over the phone, they made a phone call to someone to break the language barrier who did explain to them that my payment was fair. I don't know that we will be running back there anytime soon, this is only been our third massage and it depends on how quickly We heal from it. Lol. The hot stones were very enjoyable. read more

The masseur had bit of trouble explaining differences between the various options of the menu, but eventually I was able to get across to him that I needed a deep tissue massage, with an added emphasis on the lower back and feet. I had booked a couples massage through Groupon. Facility seems clean which is good. My partner and I are INCREDIBLY sore the day after visiting the spa. The massage therapists never introduced themselves and we were never asked our preference on male or female therapist. My partner had a female and I had a male. This was supposed to be a full body massage, but I had never received a full body massage where any region close to my butt was touched. My boyfriend and I both had our entire butt and upper inner thighs rubbed but were too in shock to say anything. A lot of the massage was pressing like we were receiving some sort of chiropractor treatment. There wasn't a lot of actual massaging going on. My therapist continually was coughing through the treatment and my boyfriends masseuse sneezed at one point while working on him. Throughout the treatment the therapist were speaking to each other in another language which wasn't what we intended for our massage together, we wanted a quiet environment. They absolutely hassle for a tip at the end of the massage at checkout, which is really not cool. Honestly, would avoid. I had been here several times for a drop in chair massage, I was extremely satisfied with all of the females who had gave me massages. I found a Groupon and called to see if they do parental massages, which they said they did. They clearly do not. When I got in the room they had no body pillow and a very little bath towel to cover up,not even a blanket. I asked for a pillow they brought a n airplane pillow. The man who gave me my massage was literally caressing my neck, no pressure, no kneading, nothing. I was so uncomfortable I told him that was enough. I paid $30 for 20 mins and he had the nerve to ask me where his tip was!
