The most stunning restaurant in St Andrews, with quite a spectacular view over the ocean. We ate quite late, so our view was not as amazing as it would be during the day/at sunset, but the experience was very memorable. The service here is fantastic, with the somm recommending excellently paired wines to go with the delicious food. We are desperate to come back, and hopefully the scallops are still on the menu for when we return. If you want superb seafood, then you must come here.

The seafood was great. The oysters for an appetizer were amazing. The service here was fantastic and we were never without anything. The view from this restaurant is likely one of the best you'll ever find since it's built over the North Atlantic Ocean. The ambiance was fun and upbeat. Not too loud, but not so quiet it was uncomfortable.

Maybe it was the beautiful weather! It was everything! Great views, ambiance, service....i should have mentioned the food first!! Superb from appetizers through dessert! See the pics! When asked where will you be having dinner during your stay? The mention of the Seafood Ristorante was met with "an excellent choice" response!....and "it" was an enjoyable dinner experience.

We went to The Seafood Ristorante for a birthday a year ago and decided to go back since it was so good. This time it was more disappointing.. we arrived just before our booking time of 12pm and entered the restaurant. We were stopped and sent back outside since staff instruction was still ongoing. Not such a pleasant experience for such a good restaurant. Sitting down, the intense fish smell from the open kitchen became quickly overpowering. In addition, the service was a bit too efficient and quick. As to the food itself, the starters of langoustine risotto and smoked salmon were great, the halibut main nice, though maybe a bit undercooked and the dessert tarte tatin fantastic. By no means bad, but not any longer worth the detour from Aberdeen.

Everyone we've talked to has raved about this restaurant, so I was surprised to see it have a 3.5 rating on Yelp. I'm having dinner with 4 people who are extremely particular about their dining experience. Every person at my table, including myself agreed this was a true 5 star experience! It's located on the water with a beautiful view and across the street from St. Andrews. All of us except one ordered the evening special: Wild Sea Bass with potatoes, squid, and vegetables. It was incredible. Light but seasoned perfectly with a crispy skin. My husband ordered the Scottish Turbot served with a delicious sauce. Neither of us had ever heard of Turbot so I looked it up online. It's described as one of the most expensive and tastiest fish available. It is found on the coast of Scotland and Ireland. It was outstanding! My husband and I shared an order of mussels and a Caesar salad. It was the BEST mussels we've ever had. A huge bowl with tender mussels in a light broth. We couldn't finish it! For dessert, we shared the apple tart tatin served with ice cream and caramel sauce. One order of this dessert was enough for 4 of us. Service was excellent!

This restaurant is to die for. If you are visiting St Andrews for the day, playing the course, or just looking for a delicious dinner... go! We had a top-notch NYC-level experience with wine and drinks for 300 pounds. It's worth every penny and is some of the best food we've had in the UK. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

This is an exquisite place on the shoreline of St Andrew. The service is excellent. Vast ocean view with its contemporary decor just bring the outdoor into the dinner platter. As I approached the entrance, I was greeted with sumptuous aroma of fine dinner. The oyster on half shell is best I had ever tasted. The brought over the gluten free bread. Wow, that was a total winner. Even the butter is perfectly soft with a sprinkle of sea salt on it. I was expected at the clubhouse for dinner in 2 hours. Never mind about that, I'm ordering my fish now. Got to continue with this.... my monk fish was absolutely heavenly. The food is hot, not a simple task here in Scotland. This plate is far exceed that. The monkfish is just perfectly cooked with an artichoke cream based sauce. It is refreshing, delicious and surprisingly light. The compliments is a tomato cup filled with ratatouille. The zucchini blossoms is piped with an airy mousse. I think the chef could possibly have more fun than the patron. All these was enjoyed with Scotland gin andFever Tree Indian tonic with slice of green apple. A really nice treat.

There is a nice variety of seafood on offer on the menu but the better choice is to select your fish from tonight's specials on the wall. That's what we did and we were very satisfied. The wine menu is limited. We chose a Pouilly Fuse that was unfortunately not drinkable. The staff were kind enough to take it back. I then chose the IPA that was much better. The appetizer recommended by our server was the mussels. These were best mussels I've ever enjoyed. It was served with a sauce made with garlic, butter, milk, and onion. It's good enough to be a soup! Our sides included brocholini and halumi. Both were excellent. The brocholini was flavorful and crunchy with a nice sauce-though know that the sauce has ham in it. The cheese, lightly fried is served with a spicy sauce that I really enjoyed, bit was too much for my wife. It was superb. We selected the monkfish and sea bass for our mains. Both were excellent, moist and flavorful fish-generous portions of each. This was an extremely satisfying and enjoyable meal. It was I've of our best in Scotland. We were frankly unable to eat more and we didn't have dessert.

So I went back the next day by myself, I did rsvp for 1 for 3pm, which was't necessary. After looking at the menu, went with: - Haddock & Chips with mushy peas. One thing I do like about this place was that, they offer different fish options, but no cod, thus I went with haddock. They do better job with frying their fish. The fish and the batter did not fall apart. The mushy peas was not my cup of joe :) When you walk in, to your right is the kitchen, where you can order for take out, walk towards the left to go to the dining room. The service was mediocre, thus only three stars. The wait staff rarely stopped by to check on you or refill your water, you had to hunt them down to get more water.

Very very reasonable dressed crab and fresh lobster. On a sunny day (yup you are in the East Neuk, so these days are not too rare) between Easter and September, come down to the harbour for some al fresco dining. It is a little bit of New England in Scotland! Here is how you tackle the lobster shack. 1. Make sure it is open - opening hours are variable, but usually open weekends from Easter, and in the height of the summer, they are open during the week for lunch. 2. Bring glassware/plastic cups and corkscrew if you are wanting juice/wine 3. Get some cash - they don't take cards 4. Go to the hut and pick your lobster, they are live and will be freshly boiled for you. 5. Whilst lobster is boiling, go to the co-op across the road and buy some wine, bread, salad or anything else you want to have with the lobster/crab - the lobster/crab is just served as is, no lemon or anything. 6. Come back and grab yourself a bench, get your delish lobster/crab which will be served on a glass plate with real cutlery. 7. Enjoy - guaranteed you will! But please, please, don't tell anyone else - this is a really special place, we don't want it too busy now!!

Where do I even begin? This was hands down our favourite restaurant during our vacation to Scotland…read moreand we had a lot of really great meals. First off, the restaurant and the owner were so charming and his wife is also the chef. The menu is quite extensive and the choices were all excellent. It is also vegetarian friendly with plenty of choices between meat, seafood and vegetarian. Even the dessert menu was varied and extensive. I initially planned to do the 2 course meal which was very reasonably priced at £27.95, but when I looked at the dessert choices I knew I'd have to save room for three courses. The meal started off with complimentary crackers and warm homemade bread with hummus and salsa, olive oil and butter. It was a lovely start. For my starter I chose the crab baked cheddar and mustard with salad. It was fantastic, so flavourful and filling and was baked in a shell. I had troubles choosing my second course as the options all looked amazing. I wound up choosing the crab trio which consisted of a coconut curried crab also served in a shell, a crab cake and crab risotto. All delicious, although the risotto didn't resemble other risottos I've had, it was still delicious. I think next time if I'm fortunate enough to return i would try to vary up what I had as I ate crab for both courses. Once our server brought our second course she said she would be right back with our vegetables. Our plates were already full yet more food was brought to our table including mashed potatoes, scalloped potatoes and steamed vegetables. I was getting so full! And for the finale I chose the Baked Alaska and my hubby chose the Sticky Toffee Pudding. I definitely won in the dessert choices! He finished both his and half of mine. Be sure to check out this fabulous restaurant when visiting St Andrews. You will not be disappointed. Be sure to make a reservation though!
