I stop and tell him to take that off because I didn't agree to it and why is it asking for additional gratuity??? "Bartender" says he'll take that off. I tip him 20%. The guy did not take it off and faked it. He tried to hustle me for a 50% tip. The bar was in the back right corner when you walk in. Stopped by here after attending Candlelight: Legends of R&B at the Williamsburg Hotel on Friday (08/05) evening. It's a fun casual spot to hang with friends while partaking in a competitive game of Connect Four and other games. Picnic style tables and great music. Music is the best part of this place. However, there aren't many food options. I believe there is just a taco truck inside the lot and those weren't really good. I ordered a chicken taco, which was tiny and bland. Thank God for the accompanied hot sauce because it added flavor. (Sidebar: Mexico Lindo, a food truck parked outside Tailgate has good tacos. I ordered two chicken tacos to take home for a late dinner. Tacos are stuffed with seasoned shredded chicken. If not careful, it could veer on the salty side but it's definitely better than the bland ones at Tailgate.) A downside of the night was seeing a humongous rat scurry across. This place gets one star only because it is a cool venue and they play great music, but that's about it. I came here over the weekend for a large planned event. The organizers of the event had their own issues with the venue so I wasn't surprised when I had issues of my own. I approached the bar and ordered two margaritas and was told that they did not have all the proper ingredients but they would make me a drink with what they had. They asked if I wanted a single or double and I asked for a double which was hardly a double by any means. I was given the machine to pay with no itemized break down, left a tip and drank my gross drink. The first round cost me $60 for two "margaritas" served in tiny plastic cups. They didn't seem to have a large selection of drinks so I continued to drink the margarita. The second time I purchased drinks, I was told they only had one type of tequila left - I said that was fine and I asked for two single margaritas. When I was given the machine to pay, I tapped my card and left a tip. This time I opted to have the receipt texted to me. When I looked at the receipt the next day I was shocked. I was charged for the wrong type of drink, plus an additional amount for the type of tequila I got (which again, was the only kind they had), plus extra for a double (that I did not order) plus a 20% automatic gratuity. This place is clearly double dipping for tips and not telling people it's already included! You are not legally allowed to add automatic gratuity unless it's specifically stated! They also charged tax on top of the subtotal PLUS the tip that they added. They labeled the tip as BBOT 20%. NYS tax law states that the automatic gratuity has to be labeled as gratuity otherwise the merchant can charge tax based on the subtotal and automatically added tip. They are obviously aware of this loophole by labeling the automatic gratuity as BBOT 20% and are charging more tax. I ended up paying $67 for two single margaritas served with the wrong ingredients in plastic cups. I don't even think two drinks in Times Square would cost that much!! As if that wasn't bad enough, there are no bathrooms here and no one seems to care to clean the dirty smelly porta potties. Staff stands around and does nothing but harass you to see your wrist band when it is clearly on your arm. They barely have any food on their menu, so don't go here looking to eat much. They have on site food trucks but they seem to be taking a page out of tailgates scamming book - I ordered a chicken quesadilla which was not as described and was missing half the ingredients! It's a shame because this is a cool venue and it would definitely be a good place to catch several games on TV, but I can't patronize a place that clearly is scamming their patrons. Also, who wants to go to a bar with hardly any food options? AVOID!!! read more

Came here with some friends yesterday. The staff was absolutely friendly and welcoming. The idea of the storage units were clever but executed well. The red paint on the inside was unattractive, making the space appear full and univiting. Food taste very meh. Fruit flies everywhere. Wouldn't return because it's nothing to miss here. read more

Love this place! They have an amazing outdoor space for COVID, separate cabanas and staff ensuring that everyone is following protocols. The staff is super accommodating - we came with a large group and they found additional chairs and moved things around for us. This place is certainly a vibe!! My partner and I stayed at Wythe hotel this weekend and found this huge space directly across the street. Food trucks with the best chicken tenders I've had in Ny in almost three years! 9/10 for sure. Got some more drinks and the bartender made sure they were good as he topped both margaritas with some more tequila & THEN we took a shot with him. Meech you're awesome!! This is a really cool open place to hang out with a group of friends. Every table has a barcode - you order and pay through your phone. I tried their margarita and really liked it- strong and not too sweet. Their old fashioned is definitely really strong but still good. They had a Pride month drink- a frozen cocktail which comes with graham cracker. It's a fun drink - tasted like coffee and cinnamon but it was just too sweet for my taste. They have food trucks in the back if you want to order food as well. The bathroom is in a trailer- the lines can get pretty long, just a warning. Omg. So much potential but it's terrible. Came on NBA Allstar Sunday hoping to watch...ended up watching Home improvement and the News. First of all, such a COOL concept and place to hang out - especially during covid when I wanted to be safe, but also social. Each cabana had its own designated area, TV, heater and followed ALL the guidelines. CDC would totes approve. The staff was friendly, attentive and actually really good looking. Drinks were bomb. Food could be a little better. Bathrooms were clean. All the things you look for in your neighborhood go-to. Added benefit? Puppies everywhere. read more

The drink in the bucket is absolutely filled to the very brim with ice & became super water downed really quickly. The place was only about 1/4 full with most people seated near the front lighted section, and our party of two was seated all the way in the back by ourselves with no lights on. When asking to turn the lights on, we were told "it's controlled automatically", and asking to turn up the volume on our TV was apparently a huge favor to ask for. You order and pay/tip all from your phone and servers deliver your drinks (which also seemed like such an inconvenience for them), so what exactly did we tip for? Food came out with a wrong order and I was heavily interrogated for asking about my order seeming incorrect because "oh well that the food trucks that do the food not us." New York City lacks bars with outdoor viewing options for sports. The tailgate definitely fills a void in the market so I'll give them that. But I think its poorly managed. We made a reservation on Thursday, hoping to catch a 4pm, #22 ranked Tulane team play. We waited in line for 30 minutes (even know we had a reservation) just to receive a wristband because everyone needs wristbands even though your IDs get checked at the door? Finally we arrived at our tables and requested them to change a Duke game that clearly no one in the open air area was watching. They refused and claimed they had to stick to their pre-determined schedule that was posted on Friday. We watched the whole game on our phone and asked multiple times to have the game switched to little to no avail. We also ordered drinks via the QR code at our table. Drinks never came as the bartenders had started drinking themselves around 5pm. Look, I totally understand that Tulane football is not a national powerhouse but we had two table reservations and it was clear that no one in the area would have cared if the 30 point Duke blowout was changed to a close Tulane game. Moreover, Tulane started at 4pm and when all six 330 games ended and were showing postgame shows, they still refused to change the channel for us as our two tables huddled over our iphones to continuing watching our team. (I'd also add that they were showing a random ACC game on the ACC network on another TV that no one cared about) That coupled with ordering drinks that never arrived, and waiting 30 minutes in a line for our table, made for a poor experience. No employees seemed to worry about folks in the open air area of the bar. We set out, made a reservation and were treated like our business didn't matter to the bar. They obviously have the demand to where they don't have to offer 5 star service. Good spot to watch a game but don't expect to be treated great! read more

My friend and I came here to watch a Nets game. When you sit in the shipping container area that has the TVs, you are obligated to order through an app. As I was being seated at 7:45, I was encouraged to order drinks for happy hour. It took me a while to find the correct bar code to scan on the table to order because there is another bar code taped onto the table that wants you to book a reservation for ax throwing. once i found the food bar code, i entered in an order for a basket of tenders and fries plus two mezcal mules. my friend and i don't drink often and only ordered drinks bc they were half off. once i got to the payment section, it didn't give me an option to pay with paypal or apple pay, it only accepted card information that needed to be entered. i didn't have my wallet, only my phone for payment and my friend still wasn't there so i got up to ask how i could pay with apple pay on my phone. I was told i could pay at the bar with apple pay and still get the happy hour price. when i got to the bar, the bartender flat out said that was untrue as he began to make the drinks. my friend walked up at that moment and got her card out so that i could quickly enter in the information on the stupid app. The clock turned 8:01 just before i could press send. and the bartender said it was too late and he had already made the drinks and charged us full price. The total for a basket of tenders and fries for 1 and 2 mezcal mules with 18% tip came out to $50.12. It felt pretty uncomfortable to be encouraged to order happy hour and told i could still pay at the bar for happy hour by one dude and then have the other dude at the bar shut that down. The drinks were meh and the food was meh. I DEFINITELY would not recommend anyone go to Tailgate for either. My friend tried to order fries through the app after when we sat down but she had to get up to order bc the app didn't allow you to select a separate sauce with the fries. over an hour later, we needed the volume adjusted and some water and you have to get up to request things like that bc the owners and or employee aren't real servers that come around and check in on you. everything has to be done through the app. overall, the experience was cold, the food and drinks were nothing to write home about, and the service was non existent. We felt we grossly overpaid and were lied to. we have a ton more games to watch and we won't be going back to TG to do it. read more

Really it's the best spot in the city or Brooklyn. What a cool concept. I've only been a handful of times but had a blast each and every time. Favorite night was the friday night RuPaul drag race viewing party (Gay man here). The crowd was fun and rowdy in the best way possible. Drinks were strong and Thorgy (the hostess) was a hoot. We visited Tailgate on a beautiful Sunday in May. I really wasn't sure what to expect my friend goes there to play volleyball on Sundays. The vibe is great. Such a fun place with so much to do. We were greeted by Meehy ( I think he's a manager) with a big hello and made us feel welcomed. We had drinks that came with a nice pour. The Frozen Rose, the margaritas were so good. We enjoy some snacks from the food truck and played corn hole while we laughed, listen to great music and had such a blast! If you are looking for something different... Run.. Run .. The staff was nice, the food was tasty and complemented the drinking, but fact they bring out ice cold coolers of beer (24 in a cooler!) and serve reasonably priced bottles to a socially safe table is a game changer for the summer, and my friends and I will definitely return to watch any game in any season. read more

I brought my work team to Tailgate for a get together after working remotely from each other for over 16 months. We were all very weary of socially distancing, but at the same time we wanted the opportunity to catch up and let loose. Tailgate was the PERFECT location for our reunion. We had a private cabana in the corner that we could completely spread out in and pull up extra chairs as more people showed up. It was nice and warm (even though it was chilly outside) and everyone felt comfortable. The best part was that since you individually order via an app, we didn't have to go through the hassle of splitting a massive bill and doing a million venmos at the end of the night. We had such a good time we were there until closing when they politely asked us to leave. Drinks were delicious yet strong, and the staff was all super accommodating. Even when my dog got off his leash and started jumping on the servers. Can't recommend this place enough.... especially for group events! read more
