Stopped by here with a group of friends to grab some drinks and catch up. They have a decent drink selection as well as some paid arcade games and a couple shuffleboard tables. They do serve food, but we didn't order any to comment on. We came in at 8pm on a Saturday night, and it was empty - maybe a handful of other people in here. Drinks were reasonably priced - we paid about $20 for a whiskey and a beer. Service was definitely not the greatest. They weren't aware of their own Whiskey of the Month and were not that polite. I'd understand if it was busy, but, as I said, it was empty, and we were the only ones ordering. We enjoyed our time playing shuffleboard but not a bar that I would want to return to. read more

Came here because it was reccomended by a friend of mine for the games. I came around 6pm on a Tuesday and there were only a handful of people inside. It was super chill and the bartenders, Tony and Ash really looked out for me. They reccomended good whiskeys for me to sip on and a few other dope bars in the area for me to try. I went here last Saturday night with a few friends after a festival in the Brooklyn Expo Center. The bar is large and has a lot of tables. The beer and drink menu was extensive. There were shuffle board tables in the back to the left of the bar, which was fun. I didn't get a chance to play, but my friends did and they liked it a lot. One of my friends and I played the skee ball game in the front of the bar. We tried the pretzel and fries and they were very good. The crowd that is here seemed like fresh out of college kids that were privileged. A lot of them were rude and tried to pick fights, which was really immature. We celebrated my friend's birthday at the Whiskey Brooklyn, and ultimately we were not disappointed. The bar area could have been made more comfortable as we had to grab stools from the nearby tables and sort of sit next to each other, tightly packed. We ordered some food, and it was rather good bar food. The chicken BLT wrap, which doesn't exactly come cheap, does taste quite nice. Being at a bar, we had alcohol, and the menu, while not being extensive doesn't cover the whole list of liqueurs available. The UFO White is all right tasting, and I preferred their whiskey sour to it, which comes with the appropriate amount of tartness. The pickleback -- a shot of whiskey followed by pickled juice -- was invented right here in Brooklyn. It turned out to be surprisingly good. The pickle comes with some amount of spiciness that chases long after the whiskey is imbibed. read more

Good bar, good service, good location. What's not to like? If you've ever been to The Whiskey Tavern, or The Whiskey on Grand, then you know what you're in for. The menu is virtually identical, as is the general atmosphere and ambience. This isn't a fancy establishment, but that doesn't make it sleazy or dirty either - it's laid back, with friendly bar staff and good deals on drinks + shots. If you're in the mood for a pickle-back in NYC, look no further. They also serve good, dependable bar food (including a literal "bowl o' bacon", which is exactly what it sounds like - or their classic tater tots). This specific bar is a bit unique in that, once you enter, you can choose to either head downstairs to the "real" Whiskey Brooklyn, or head to your right and go to a different bar that's sorta connected to it. I came just to see if this bar was the same as the Whiskey Tavern (i.e. lively spot with good deals), so I went downstairs - and it's pretty damn close. I've seen a couple crummy reviews on Yelp here and I don't quite know what to make of them, particularly the ones that are complaining about the noise level or the average age. It's not particularly loud for a NYC bar, and when I went (Saturday) most patrons were around 30. But also - what do you expect when going to a fun bar on a weekend? Study groups & librarians shushing people? Of course it's going to get a bit rowdy, that's half the fun. When I came here yesterday, the bouncer was friendly and checked our vaccination status properly (which is neat, since we're still in an active pandemic and need to be safe about this), and chatted with us a bit. The staff at the bar were friendly and happy to chat with pretty much anyone, and attentive with their service. They have a cool game room and shuffleboard if you're bored, and big flatscreen TVs playing the sport of the moment (in our case, college football). If I'm in the area again and want an affordable yet good deal on bar drinks and food, I'll absolutely stop by. read more

I never write reviews, but I feel compelled to post about my experience at this bar last night to warn other customers about the service here. I arrived around midnight with a group of about 15 people (all of us in our mid thirties or older) and spent the entire night between at a table in the corner of the bar and the small dance floor area. We bought drinks at the bar the entire night and mostly kept to ourselves. At one point in the night, one of the bouncers/managers spots an empty liquor bottle at the table next to ours and immediately tells us that we need to get the fuck out. We try to tell the workers that the bottle isnt ours, and that a separate group of young girls were seated there but they still refuse to let us stay. A few of us had just purchased drinks not 5 minutes prior so we asked if we could at least finish our drinks. At this point a very tall bouncer tells me to finish my drink and leave, and me being a very small woman, tell him that I don't want to chug my drink so he snatches the cup out of my hand, tells me to get the fuck out and to never come back. I calmly ask him why he's being so aggressive and he threatens to call the police on me. I am not a confrontational person in any way and was completely sober when all of this went down so I'm confused as to why we recieved this treatment. The 2 djs who were watching this interaction were equally confused. Honestly this is completely unacceptable and has left such a bad taste in all of our mouths, so I will advise other groups to avoid this place at all costs. There are better bars with nicer staff all over the city, especially in Williamsburg. read more

We were in line to go into Brooklyn Brewery, they told us it would be about 40 minutes. We were cold... and were ready to get the party started! We looked back to so how far the line was and noticed The Whiskey Shop. While the line moves, we were sure we would have time to at least have one drink there. So, we left the guys holding our place in line and we went to check this place out. There's "tough" security outside, at all times. Rules - you are carded at the door, and no drinks (not even water) are allowed inside. They will check your bags. Go down the stairs and you'll find a dark basement type of bar full with arcade games, TVs and of course lots of Whiskey. It was Sunday around 2pm and this place was busy. It took us a while to get our drinks but finally we did. Strong! We didn't stay long, the line moved faster than we anticipated so we finished our drinks and left but, loved getting the chance to trying this place and seeing how cool it is inside. Some of the people there can be a bit obnoxious (think frat boy/ college crowd) and, like I said, service can be a bit slow, but still a good place to hang out with friends. 3.5 stars read more

Came in for lunch. Ordered the lunch special - 2 tacos and a well drink for $10. It was decent. I love a good deal, so I had to go for it. Bartender - he was polite & professional. He floated about tending and conversing with everyone. He never hovered which I loved. The food - the tacos were okay. They give you enough meat as in they are not stingy with it. I got my tacos "Mexican Style." The salsa & hot sauce were definitely needed because the chunks of meat can be a bit drying. The drinks - my first visit to The Whiskey & I didn't order whiskey (sue me). I ordered tequila & pineapple and a tequila & cranberry (random for me). They were just okay considering it was house liquor. Games - So, I came solo and everyone else in the building for the most part were paired up... So I didn't play any. Racist AF Since I gave my ID at the door they treated me like shit (security) The guy at the entrance (pic 1) was an ass since he knew my nationality (yes, he gave me a judging look and raised his eyebrows ass much as he could since he saw my ID) and he was keeping and eye on my table and followed me through the place at the point that he asked me to go out of the place to talk to him, and since I refused he asked the busboy to take our glasses off the table. I didn't allow it, so he called his boss on me and he (pic 2) said his employee wasn't comfortable with his pic being taken and asked me to leave the place even though I've been there since 9pm (it was 2am at least). This place is great if you are looking for mediocre cocktails and condescending managers. Their whiskey list is super short so don't expect anything special there. Our bartender was Heather and while she was great there is nothing else great here. After realizing their whiskey list fit on an 11x4 list I should've known what was to come. There's a game room in the back and it quotes if you score 450 on skee ball you get a free draft beer. Low and behold I hit that number. Simultaneously our machine wouldn't stop spitting out balls after we swiped our card. Worried we were getting charged more than the expected $5 the bartender stated we shouldn't use cards and only cash. Great solution! Then I asked for my free draft beer and was given a can instead even after I questioned it. Frustrated with this guys complete lack of respect for customers, I embarrassingly threatened a 1 Star review, here it is, and walked away. Then the, I'm assuming bar manager, Jo Jo, came over to try and make things right. She brought me a draft beer. Gee thanks! Not before some condescending comments like "if giving us a 1 Star will help you sleep at night, go for it", or "there are some people we throw out for bad behavior." Wish I could give a half star because I'd give the Whiskey Brooklyn about a 3.5. Came here with a group and had to wait a bit in line to get in, no big deal since the line moved rather quickly. Once inside we had to put our name on a list to go downstairs since they have a max capacity they like to avoid going over. Our wait was about 25 min, which wasn't too long feeling since we were able to grab a drink in the annex area while waiting. Once downstairs, we entered a large bar area with a wide variety of music (anything from 80s to current hits) and fun games. It never took long to get a drink because of the size of the crowd at the bar. We got ourselves some pickleback shots and made use of the $10 Miller high life and shot special. I do have to say that it's weird that they make such a big deal about the max capacity downstairs because by about 1am there was definitely a noticeable increase in the amount of people. Although it was pretty packed, the great music selection and nostalgic throwbacks distracted us from that. So there are two floors: the upper level and downstairs which is a lot larger compared to upstairs. I've come here for many events like NYE. I love the spicy pickleback shots (whiskey followed by jalapeño pickle juice). Sounds gross but the bar is known for them! Also, it's fun that they've got games in the back like basketball and shuffleboard. Games are all $1, so this place offers a great time for a low price!
