Tailgate is located in the quaint town of Parker on Mainstreet. Note, there's plenty of free parking across the street at O'Brien Park. We arrived at 7 PM on a Saturday night to hear the band, Guild of Ages play at 8:30PM. Since we were there early we decided to try some of their food too. We did get a table by the stage even though the place was already very busy. First off, the band was great, awesome singer musicians & the dance floor was packed. Second, the food was really good as well. We split the "Fall of the Bone" Ribs that came with Fries & Coleslaw. These were some of the best ribs I've had in a while...sweet but spicy & yes they were falling off the bone, the coleslaw was homemade - creamy & delicious plus the fries were good & nicely seasoned. Tailgate Tavern is just off Mainstreet in downtown Parker. Came with a colleague to get lunch and happened to have a gift card I hadn't used. It is a true sports bar where the bar was hopping on a Monday at lunchtime. Many of the tables (some high tops and some not) were taken. They do have a patio that was open as it was 67 outside (crazy in February) The waitress was polite. She was taking care of a lot of tables and did a great job. She also refilled both drinks during our meal. The food was fine. The French onion soup had cheese melted over croutons as opposed to a larger crostini. My colleague recommended it well done (hadn't heard of this) so will try that if I get the soup again. I tried the roast beef on weck which is a Kimmelweck roll (Kaiser roll topped with kosher salt and caraway seeds). It is native to Buffalo NY. Perhaps they were out but they sent the sandwich out on a burger bun topped with salt. As the roll is a major part I was disappointed. The roast beef was tender, as just tasty and horseradish spicy and fresh and served with a side. I had the steamed vegetables which were broccoli, cauliflower and carrots. This place is not bad for what it is. It's a local bar. Don't expect to get good service if you aren't known. Even then, service is super slow. Drinks are expensive and watery. Food is... Fine. If you can't eat gluten, it's a real gamble. They officially don't be have anything for us to eat, but some things seem like they'd be okay? The servers are always grumpy about any questions about it. My gluten eaters aren't impressed either. We go occasionally because they do live music, but it is so loud and you have to be so close to the speakers that it's a lot. Honestly, I can't really recommend it unless someone is playing that you really want to see. Eat before you come. read more

Lunch with "the girls" - we were on the patio with shade umbrellas, and an attentive server named Aspen. I ordered the Cobb Salad ($14.99). It was OK but nothing special. The lettuce was 90% iceberg (not my fave) and the chicken was diced. (I much prefer larger strips of grilled chicken that resemble a breast; the little diced pieces could almost be anything.) Even on a weekday lunchtime, traffic on Mainstreet is noisy. I think next time we should sit indoors--but then there is the bar noise. The atmosphere was pleasant, with live music both inside and outside, but the service and food quality completely ruined the experience. When we arrived, our server Trinity immediately gave off an unfriendly vibe. We ordered a Reuben sandwich, which the menu clearly describes as grilled. When it arrived, the bread was soggy and pale, not grilled at all. When we mentioned this to Trinity, she said they actually "bake" the sandwiches and there was nothing she could do about it. Next, we ordered drinks: a Long Island Iced Tea and a Sun-Kissed. The Long Island tasted like pure Coke--overly sweet and nearly undrinkable. When I asked for another one, Trinity replied with attitude, saying it would taste "exactly the same" because of the recipe, and seemed annoyed when I still asked her to have another made. The replacement was slightly better, but still far too sweet, basically a hangover in a glass. My partner ordered the Sun-Kissed, and after about twenty minutes, Trinity returned to tell us they were out of strawberry, which is the main flavor of the drink, and only had peach available. We agreed to the change, but then waited another thirty minutes, only to receive what was essentially plain lemonade--no peach, no flavor, nothing. When we politely said we didn't care for the drinks and asked if we could exchange them for shots instead, since we had already paid, Trinity responded sarcastically, reminding us that she had "already said" the drink would taste the same and doubting anything could be done. Eventually, the manager, Danny, came over. She was a bit more pleasant but still seemed rushed and irritated to be speaking with us. She made excuses for the poor food and drinks, interrupted us several times, and offered to comp the shots instead of the drinks. However, when the shots arrived, our drinks were taken away, so we essentially ended up paying for the shots anyway. The only positive part of the night was the owner. He stopped by briefly, was genuinely kind, and clearly knows how to treat customers. Please give him some grace, because the rest of the staff could use serious retraining. Tailgate is great, but when they are busy the service is terrible. Hire people that can handle business. Tammy was our "server" and she was overwhelmed from the start. It's one thing when you have busy shifts, it's fair for staff to be overwhelmed, but then don't staff them. Especially with how rude she was start to finish. As someone in the industry for 16 years, there are people who can be overwhelmed and still manage customers. You're doing a disservice for the company and other staff members by staffing these people on during prime times. Get your staff together Tailgate. read more

So first of all, it's super fun to have my kids eat out on the patio and there are waitresses that look like former "dancers" with their entire abdomens and chests hanging out with tattoos all over them. Classy!! The drink menu has no prices on it whatsoever, how convenient. I ordered an espresso martini that wasn't even in a real martini glass and it was about 2 inches high and I get the bill and it is $16.40!!! A great establishment in the center of downtown Parker, Tailgate is certainly a neighborhood favorite as it has been busy each time I have been there. The atmosphere is typical of a well kept local bar, but they do boast a large patio area, where they happened to have live music on one of our Saturday afternoon visits. The service is super friendly and attentive and each time we have visited made us feel welcomed. The food we have had has been very good as well and at a very decent price point. Right off the bat, first impression was meh. Service was rude. You seat yourself, but it's very unclear how ordering works. Our waitress was just blunt and didn't care UNTIL she spilled food all over me when she was collecting the plates when we were done eating. All I was offered was a wet rag to clean off the food. No discount or anything which I know isn't required, but it would've been nice considering she spilled a majority of leftover dark Chicago Italian beef dipping sauce on my clothes and jacket. Good thing I was wearing mostly dark colored clothes otherwise it would've been a whole outfit thrown in the trash on top of an already uncomfortable ride home. Food was okay. Not much flavor honestly. I got a quesadilla (10.99) with chicken (extra 3.99) but there wasn't that much chicken in it. I also asked for the jalapeños on the side but that went ignored. I just ate it anyway since I was hungry and no one even came near us to check on us until we were done anyway. I definitely don't recommend this place honestly. The boys and I stopped in for a drink after experiencing the Parker Car Show, to a packed house at the Tailgate. Course, we weren't the only ones with that idea, so both the interior and outdoor patio were almost entirely full. Luckily, we snagged a sunny spot on the patio with a view of Main Street and the live band getting set up! A server approached us to take our drink order - waters with a side of morning cocktails! On weekends, Tailgate offers buy-1-get-1 mimosas, screwdrivers or bloody's which we eagerly ordered. Bloody for one and screwdrivers (one subbing for Grapefruit juice) for two! When these drinks came out in mini pitchers, I was shocked and excited! However, I'll admit, they were extremely watered down and all of us actually had a hard time finishing them due to the liquor to juice ratio. We stayed for less than 40 minutes before we were on our way - leaving underwhelmed. With the insane crowd and lackluster cocktails, I'm not keen on returning anytime soon but would be willing to try them again when in the area. read more

I have been here a few times typically before an event at O'Brien park. This particular time we were getting our carb on before a beer festival and needed to eat beforehand. We had arrived at 11:30 to grab some lunch and were told that we couldn't order lunch until noon even thought the breakfast menu said across the top that breakfast ended at 11:30am. So we waited, ordered some drinks and watched some Olympics. Once noon came around we ordered our food. Then told it would be a bit before it came out with the transition from breakfast to lunch. It did take a while. I am glad we weren't in a hurry because it did take quite some time before the food arrived. My husband got the Chicago Italian beef. The bread was hard and dry and the bowl of jus was small and wasn't enough for the sandwich so the sandwich was also dry. Maybe next time we can order it dipped and it wouldn't come out that way. I order the chicken fajitas. They came out sizzling. The chicken was tender and flavorful and it was tasted really good, however I would say it was a small portion sized. I typically don't finish a meal because the portions are so large but in this case I ate the whole plate and could have gone for more. Overall it was okay. I haven't had anything there that stands out to me as a great meal. Just good basic bar food. If you have had something amazing there, let me know so I can try that. read more
