    Variety from the buffet

Came here with a group of friends for their lunch buffet. Roughly $17 per person. Delicious as always. We ordered masala chai (very strong spice in it) and it was really good. They were so busy and services were great. Kept checking in on us. Check them out if you're near Harding Place area.

I ate here years ago and really enjoyed it. Back when it was up the road. I had known they moved locations, and the new space is very nice. I love the building and the spacious parking. When entering, I was immediately seated. I first noticed this new space is LOUD. I later checked my watch, and it said it was 80 dB inside. The music was WAY too loud. Also, their choice in music left a lot to be desired. It may just be me getting older, but I don't like reggaeton and hip hop in a dinner place. I know it's a casual dinner, but it's a bit much, especially at that volume level. On top of the open seating plan, the noise level was insane. If you want a nice, intimate dinner, look elsewhere. The second issue I had was the lack of attention from the wait staff. After placing my order, the wait staff did not even visit my table to see if I needed more water or to explain the reason for the delay. After 30 minutes, I tended to be more observant at the 3-4 tables of parties who were seated *after me and served food. The food was good but I kept comparing it in my head to Sindoore. Sindoore is simply better at everything. Better food, better ambience, and better attentiveness. At Sindoore, they continuously fill your water, and are very attentive. The atmosphere is less noisy. Again, the food here at Taj is good. I just like Sindoore better. When it came time to pay they used those handheld card readers. I paid and was finishing up before another staff member asked if I wanted the check. I told him I had already paid. Again, I don't typically give out 2 stars at a place where I enjoyed the food, but the service and other issues here are the exception. I think it would be good if you ordered it to go or delivered.

If you're craving a delicious, all-you-can-eat spread of Indian cuisine, Taj Indian Restaurant's buffet is the place to go. The buffet offers an amazing variety of items that will satisfy any craving, from rich, flavorful curries to fresh naan and savory tandoori and chat options. The selection changes regularly, but you can always expect favorites like chicken tikka masala, lamb curry, dal, and Chicken dum biryani. Everything is freshly prepared and bursting with authentic spices. The warm naan, straight from the tandoor, is a definite highlight and a great way to scoop up the flavorful curries. I love that there's a nice balance of meat, vegetarian, and vegan dishes, so there's something for everyone. The desserts, like the sweet seviah, gulab jamun, are a perfect way to end the meal.

Had Indian food with some friends for the first time ever and I could say it wasn't a bad experience. As we went for dinner, I will point out that the prices are average/on the expensive side (in my opinion). With that note, we tried numerous of dishes I wish I taken a picture - but it was delicious for the most part! The men's bathroom was not the cleanest in my opinion and would have appreciated for it to be a bit more upkept. Service did take awhile for the food to come out, and I would say it was ~decently~ business but was far from being slammed. My friend also mentioned that when it comes to service - typically it may seem very "blunt" and a "straightforward" interaction rather than a conversation and exchanging "you're welcome" and "thank you." After this being pointed out, I can definitely see what he was referring to. I also asked for another cup of water and they simply did not get back to me, until I asked the server 2 additional times. Not to mention, but we needed an extra pair of utensils and getting our hands on this seemed too complicated (server just didn't get back to us once again) so we just took a set we saw at a table nearby. You can notice the staff not being very welcoming so it takes away from the experience. (personally - if my friend was not there to introduce me to the culture, I would rather have spent my money elsewhere)

Every city we go to we look for a good Indian restaurant. This is it in Nashville. Nice lighting and atmosphere, buzzing with guests! Service was warm and efficient and they were accommodating with finding a particular pickled side called achaar. 5 stars on the dishes, we had chicken tikka masala, aloo palak and lamb biryani (tender and flavorful!). We like it hot and the spice level was perfect! Looking fwd to leftovers tomorrow!

First I have ever been there. The owner was extremely nice. The food was delicious. Well go back. The buffet was tasty. Will go back.

Buffet for 12.99 - there is no better deal in Nashville

Is it fully authentic? Nope. Do I still love it? Absolutely! The weekend lunch buffet at Taj is hands down one of my favorite comfort meals in Nashville. 11-2:30 pm Saturday and Sunday, $13 of (primarily) Americanized Indian food. The new Taj location is a dream: plentiful parking, beautiful spacious interior that means even when they are slammed, they probably have an extra free table. I tend to go on the earlier side of lunch for less of a crowd, and they always seat us quickly and have plenty of options for the pure vegetarian or meat adventurous. My favorites on the buffet items are typically their off-menu items that seem to only appear at the buffet: the mushroom Manchurian, moong dal, and any vegetarian palya have been consistent favorites. I can also never resist the chicken 65 or butter chicken. They add so much unnecessary red dye to their meat items but they are still so addictively tasty. Service can be hit or miss here; sometimes (even if not busy) it's the end of my meal before I see my plate of fresh naan but when serving a dining room this large, I think some of that is to be expected. Please plan to need at least a two hour nap after your meal - but it's all well worth it.

First time trying Indian food. I got the lamb curry as a recommendation from the waiter. It was delicious an I enjoyed the spices. Though I wasn't a fan of the meat samosa it was very ginger tasting but all together fresh An the garlic naan was delicious an fluffy.

I know my plate looks messy here (i like to mix my food together) but this place is a 10/10!! I enjoyed everything on the plate! I like that its buffet style which gives you an option to try whatever you want, and I quite literally enjoyed what I got. Its super pretty inside, the service was amazing, and the garlic naan (not pictured) was also a 10/10. I definitely will be coming here again in the near future!

Loved this restaurant! The service was quick and the food was great. I would highly recommend going here. I loved the large selection of items to choose from, not just your standard butter chicken and tikka masala. Honestly, the tikka masala was my least favorite. I loved the green chili chicken (can't remember the name of the dish) and the mango chicken. Would recommend sharing the mango chicken and pairing it with another savory dish because it was quite sweet. The chili chicken was cooked perfectly. Spice level here is on par with the culture. If you don't like things hot, get the mild. Medium was great for me because I like some spicy, but anything more than that would have been too much I think. Their chutneys were great too. 10/10 would recommend.

Lame buffet. The selections are garbage and the service sucks. I love Indian food but this place is over-rated and disappointing.

Should have eaten upstairs. The wait for ordering was not long which is a plus. However I feel their ordering system could be a little more streamlined, there are a lot of clicks for each item. I am used to SS in Chicago and it's the same there too. I ordered nothing crazy, a cheeseburger with added pickles and some fries, and an Arnold Palmer (50/50 lemonade and tea). We waited at our table and eventually got the text our food was ready but it took over 10 minutes after that to come out. At one point they tried to bring us someone else's food and they seemed very confused about it when we said that wasn't my order. I confirmed before we left that we didn't make a mistake while ordering so it wasn't something we did. When the food did come out it had clearly been sitting for some time. The bun had not been fully cut in half and this was not even visible inside the wrapping. It was crumpled up in a cold soggy mess at the bottom of the wrapping and was inedible. I essentially ate a naked burger. The cheese had solidified and was not at all melted showing how long the food was sitting. The fries were thankfully not cold but lukewarm at best. And to top it off my drink was incorrect, it tasted and looked like strawberry lemonade. I ended up throwing much of the meal in the trash. The person delivering the food should have noticed this was not up to par and sent it back. The cleanliness was also not up to the standard I expect at SS but considering their location and time of day I would give them a pass. Would not recommend coming here after hours.
