I'd heard a lot about Jashan and was excited to finally try it.... but honestly, I came away disappointed. Maybe it's because I ordered through DoorDash, though the distance wasn't that far (just 1.8 miles!), so freshness shouldn't have been an issue. I started with the Bao Wow Buns with Butter Chicken -- the concept sounded amazing, but the execution missed the mark. The buns themselves were soft and nicely made, but the butter chicken filling was dry, lacking sauce, and the chicken pieces were oddly hard -- almost stale in texture. It came with a handful of rocket leaves (arugula) tossed in plain, with no dressing, and a small dip that tasted a bit fishy, which didn't pair well with the dish. The biryani was even more disappointing. Visually unappealing, and the flavor didn't redeem it. I kept biting into little stone-like bits and whole illichi (cardamom pods) that made it unpleasant to eat. It was supposed to be boneless chicken, but I did find a few small bone fragments in there. The only saving grace? The raita was fresh and cooling, and that's what I ended up finishing. Maybe dining in is a better experience, but based on this delivery, Jashan didn't live up to the hype. For the price point and reputation, I expected much better quality and flavor balance.

Fabulous Indian food. Lots of vegan and vegetarian options. G is fabulous and keeps all customers happy. The lunch special (Thali) is a great way to sample several dishes. I love the mango rice pudding dessert

Updating this review since I visited here a few other times. Once, I again went for brunch, given it's such a good deal and you get so much food and get to try so many dishes. Again, the service was fantastic and the food was so flavorful! This time I also did the bottomless mimosa which comes with a variety of different juices. It was a really fun and definitely worth the price. I also got chicken tikka and simosa chaat and naan to go for dinner one day. The portions were again really great and the food did not disappoint.

Jashan! Just go! If Nashville is the stage, Jashan is the culinary Dolly Parton of all-you-can-eat Indian lunch options. This decor is unpretentious elegance with just enough sparkle to make your inner Bollywood star feel right at home. The staff? Polite and gracious. Now let's go from Dolly to Bolly(-wood) to thali, shall we? They offer both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, with an appropriately lower price for the vegetarian version; but as a loyal pescatarian, I asked if they could whip up a fish version... and reader, they delivered. I was presented with a gleaming stainless steel platter straight from heaven, stacked with fish curry, fluffy rice, buttery naan, a silky dessert (We'll call it mango magic!), and an ensemble of vegetable sides that deserve their own song night at the Bluebird. Your platters are brought to you tableside. Each serving size is small at first. But as you ask for refills, the next serving is larger, i noticed. The stand-outs? A curried cabbage that made me rethink everything I thought I knew about my heritage--and the perfectly spiced fish entrée that had me planning my next visit before the first bite was even finished. Would I come back? Absolutely. Would I bring friends? Yes, mostly to show that i have good taste. But would I gloat about it? Also yes! Go to Jashan for lunch. Eat the thali of your choice. Ask for refills. Leave with joy in your heart and food in your belly.

    Pani puri

Out here visiting TN and my sister in law never gets to get Indian food because her husband hates it, so while we had some down time we decided to give this place a shot. I was excited to try pani puri for the first time....it was everyone else's first time also. We all enjoyed it. It's more of a textural experience than a flavor experience, but one worth experiencing none the less. The hummus was unique, wierd to have at an Indian spot but delicious. It tasted like cucumbers and was refreshing. The mains came and all of them were good and actually have a bit of spice to them. Even the medium has a good amount. So if youre sensitive I wouldn't suggest going above medium. The service was quick and attentive. The restaurant has a semi upscale type of feeling and would be a good date night place.

This is a fairly upscale Indian restaurant with pretty good food. The staff is very nice and helpful in providing recommendations from their menu. I had a creamy chicken dish. The meat was juicy and the sauce was great. However, it came with a tomato rice which I don't feel paired well at all with the meet It felt like I was eating 2 very different meals. I mentioned to the waitress that I was not loving the rice and she was kind enough to bring me some white rice. I thought the food and cocktails here were good and the vibe was upscale, but I'm not sure that I'd go out of my way to come back here.

Lunch Thali. So delicious! My favorite was the Chicken Tandoori!

I had been wanting to try Jashan since it first opened. I finally got the chance to try it when I went for lunch with a friend. There is free parking on the side of the building, which is a bonus in Nashville. They have done a really nice job decorating the interior, erasing all memories of J. Christophers, the previous restaurant which was more of a breakfast/brunch spot. You can order from the regular dinner menu but for lunch, you really need to try their Thali lunch special. For $16, it's basically a buffet of food. Rice and naan were surrounded by Chicken Tikka Masala, Tandoori Chicken, Kung Pao Chicken (did not taste anything like the Chinese version, so that was a plus), Peas & Potato, Lentils, a little garden salad and a Mango pudding. If you want a refill on any of those items, they bring another serving of the item for free! The service was excellent. The food was so good that I have dinner reservations there next week. I can't wait to go back.

Had Jashan last night for dinner. Over all was a good dinner. From the host to our server everyone was friendly and attentive. Started with the lamb birria tacos with Rogan Josh dunking sauce. This was my favorite of the meal. Very good! Friend and I spilt lamb tikka masala and saag paneer for our mains. Both were pretty good. Plenty of rice came with. This was a very solid 4 stars. If you follow any of my reviews you know I eat A LOT of Indian food all over the world.

I have been meaning to try this place for a while and it was absolutely delicious! I got a platter that allowed me to try multiple items and all of them were fantastic. In fact, I loved it all so much that I ordered food to go as well. G was a phenomenal sever who was very attentive. I will definitely be back and can't wait to try more.

We've eaten here twice. Once for dinner and once for lunch. Each time, it was a delight. The food is outstanding. My favorite was the lunch thali. Everything on the plate was delicious and made fresh with care. When you wanted more, you simply asked your waiter and he brought out whatever you requested. So it's like a lunch buffet, but it's white glove service. You don't have to get up from your table. This is a real unique experience for Indian food.

One bowl of rice came for all of us to use.

This isn't just my favorite Indian restaurant in Tennessee--it's hands down the best Indian food I've ever had. Everything from the moment you walk in feels special. The atmosphere is warm, modern, and inviting without feeling over-the-top. The staff has always been welcoming, knowledgeable, and happy to offer recommendations, making every visit feel like a great experience. The food is simply outstanding. Every dish is packed with bold, authentic flavors while still feeling creative and unique. You can tell there's incredible attention to detail in every bite. The sauces are rich and perfectly balanced, the meats are cooked to perfection, and the fresh naan is something I could order over and over again. I've tried Indian food in several places over the years, and nothing has come close to this. As a huge Food Network fan, it made the experience even more exciting knowing this is Chef Maneet Chauhan's restaurant. I've watched her for years on Tournament of Champions, Chopped, and other Food Network shows, so finally getting to enjoy her food in person exceeded every expectation I had. This is one of those restaurants I recommend to everyone who visits Nashville. Whether you're already a fan of Indian cuisine or trying it for the first time, this is the place to go. I'll be coming back again and again--it's become my favorite restaurant in Tennessee, and I can't wait to work my way through the rest of the menu. Highly, highly recommend!

Where do I begin?…read more Our first visit to Chauhan Ale & Masala House was nothing short of exceptional. Since we'd never been before (from Oklahoma), we had lots of questions, and our server was phenomenal-patient, knowledgeable, and full of thoughtful recommendations that made the entire experience even better. We started with the Gol Guppa Shots and Asparagus Fennel Chaat, and from the very first bite we knew we were in for something special. Every dish was beautifully plated, bursting with bold Indian flavors and creative combinations that kept surprising us. The Tamarind Lamb Chops paired with the vindaloo curry were outstanding. The vindaloo was perfectly balanced-just enough heat to remind you it's there without overwhelming your palate, allowing the depth of flavor to shine. The Chicken Kabob with the Short Rib French Onion Naan was equally unforgettable. The cocktails were expertly crafted, and we finished by sharing the Gulab Jamun Cheesecake before sipping Chai-Spiced Espresso Martinis that were simply amazing. Every plate was colorful, every bite delivered exciting layers of flavor, and every recommendation exceeded our expectations. This wasn't just dinner-it was an experience. If you're looking for bold flavors, inventive cuisine, exceptional cocktails, and genuine hospitality in Nashville, Chauhan Ale & Masala House is an absolute must. We'll definitely be back.
