We dined here on a Saturday evening when spending the weekend in Ft. Wayne. Excellent food and service. Our group of three ordered several different entrées to share. The Mango Lassi was delicious, and served promptly. We ordered garlic naan, Paneer Masala,, Dal Fry, and Aloo Gobi. We were each served a bole of rice. All were excellent, my favorite was Paneer Masala. The menu is extensive with many vegetarian options. The Dining area was nicely furnished and the booths were comfortable. A great place to dine if you are in Ft. Wayne.

Good food but the biriyani here had a slightly wetter consistency than I expected. We ordered it very spicy but it was not spicy at all. The waitress was kind and attentive.

    Door Dash order. Packed well.

I happened to be in Fort Wayne after MANY years & decided to take advantage of Taj Mahal being close to my appointment. I used Door Dash, so I didn't see the restaurant in person. Using that delivery service made it a little more expensive, but it seemed easier to use than the delivery on the restaurant's website. The restaurant itself had a delivery charge online. Door Dash did not have a delivery fee but had other fees. Would have paid for the convenience either way. Just no way around that. I didn't even think to look at GrubHub until now. My order was prepared quickly & was in my hands in less than 40 minutes from the time I hit enter. Everything was packed well & made it home over an hour away with no leaks. It was all still hot & fresh. I may have overdid it just a little, but I have no good Indian food near me & wanted lots of leftovers. I ordered pappad, naan, tandoori roti which is a sourdough I hadn't tried before, two orders of vegetable pakora, & two orders of vegetable samosas. To my surprise, they also had Punjabi Bhaji, so I got that, too. Asked for medium & it was plenty spicy. Not bland like a lot of places when you ask for that level of spice. It did turn out I had a small box of rice with my entree as well as three chutneys. Since I wasn't sure what would be included, I also ordered an extra order of large rice & a mint chutney. The extra rice does help make the meal stretch. The cup of chutney was a little overpriced at $2.99 but worth having because it is my favorite of the three. The mint & sweet chutneys were as expected. The spicier red chutney with onion was slightly different than what I've had elsewhere but I ate it all. Yum! It wasn't so hot that it was inedible like some restaurants. My only complaint would be that for the amount of pakora & samosas I got, I would have expected a bit more chutney to be included. This was quite a feast. Everything was really delicious! Not quite as good maybe as Shalimar & India Palace in Indy once were but a definite close second. Prices were mostly reasonable. The entree was especially higher than I expected but inflation. It would cost far more to buy the ingredients to make all of this at home, & it wouldn't be as convenient nor as good. If I knew how to make all of this, I wouldn't need a restaurant. It has been far too long since I had Indian food. My only regret is not having more now. I also wish I'd gotten some garlic naan. All in all, I would return if the opportunity arose. I would prefer to dine in next time. I wasn't able to make special requests on DD. You can call the restaurant, but I really was crunched for time. My Dasher, Grace, had heard good things about Taj Mahal and was right. Go check it out. I'm glad I treated myself. I could eat this every day if I had the budget & were close by. This made my day. Well, few days. Wink.

I was craving for Indian food and this was close by with good reviews. Before placing the order, I checked with the staff about their speciality. She was like we do everything the BEST. Placed order and waited for an hour. Ordered : Chicken Biriyani Parotta and Butter Chicken Chicken Biriyani tasted like tomato rice with chicken pieces. Parotta was more like thin Chapathi slices and Butter chicken was so sour and high on preservatives. I couldn't eat more than a spoon and just left it. Very unsatisfied and horrible experience. One of the staff checked if we wanted to pack the gravy as we hardly ate, I told her how it tasted. To my surprise she said people love this. I really pity their customers. I seriously wonder how they got such good ratings. We weren't happy with food and service. I DONT recommend!

Non Vegetarian Thali (under the naan)

This is the only Indian restaurant in the Fort Wayne area in my opinion as the other one up North I have never tried nor have the desire based on other reviews. I feel that this restaurant has stepped up the game over the past few years and have improved since the pandemic. We were here over Easter for lunch and was happy to report that they have wonderful service and the food comes out quick. I ordered the Non-Veg Thali (Traditional indian meal served in silver platter with chicken pakora, lamb curry, chicken curry, tandoori chicken, dal, rice, raitha, naan and kheer as dessert) which is a wonderful blend of different food off the menu. The curry was not too spicy unless you request it and everything was cooked perfectly. They give you ample naan and rice for your meal. The lamb also was quite tender and flavorful. I would give this place a 2 thumbs up for any meal!

So I am sure this review will need an update when I eventually go and dine-in. As for the takeout experience, everything was wrapped up carefully and put in high-quality plastic containers. Also, everything was very clearly labeled which is very appreciated! Once we portioned everything out, we dug on in! Between the 3 of us, we ordered 3 different kinds of paneer entrees, 1 chicken dum biryani, 2 vegetable samosas, 1 coconut naan, 1 butter naan, and 1 chana masala. Our orders also included 3 cups of rice. I tried everything but my personal order was the chicken biryani (1000/10 rating!) and the coconut naan. I was the only non-vegetarian among us so I got the chicken dish all to myself! All 3 paneers were great, but the best was the slightly sweet paneer manchurian dish! The saag paneer was a bit too goop-y to be a favorite of ours. The vegetable samosas were crispy and not excessively oily. My coconut naan was a great sweet naan, covered in a LOT of coconut flakes! And like I mentioned before, the chicken biryani is a must try! The picture doesn't show it, but underneath the first layer of rice are two big hunking thighs of delicious chicken! I can see why this is considered not only the best Indian restaurant in FW, but one of the best restaurants in the area! I am looking forward to dining in and getting a mango lassi!

The others in my party can handle spicy food but I can't and he was so kind. They make everything from scratch to order so you can get everything without the "spice". He changes the menu frequently so we can try new things - which is great! and the prices were so reasonable - especially lately it seems like prices are going up all around. The ambiance isn't what you would expect of a regular sit down restaurant but that's OK! The food is worth it. There are places to put your food and eat standing up and a few benches if you need to sit. We will go back and would like to encourage you to try it too! so good!
