I try not to continually update my reviews of restaurants that I visit frequently. Sara's receives special attention. The breakfasts are so enormous that we decided to split one today! We ordered the "haymaker" which includes hash browns, two eggs , biscuits and gravy. We ordered an extra egg and coffee. We learned while waiting for our order via a table brainteaser that the flower of Indiana is the peony and the bird of Minnesota is the common loon. Another interesting fact is our waitress's Apple Watch counts her step between 6-7 thousand a day and they don't charge for another plate. These alone required an update review. read more

What a great place for breakfast. Norma was our server and she was excellent. I loved the fact I could get fresh vegetables in an egg white omelette and add a piece of plain grilled chicken. The restaurant was clean and the service was fantastic. Norma came back to check on us several times and made sure our coffee was filled and hot. All in all five stars! I visited Sara's and overall had a good experience. The menu is VERY extensive -- there are tons of options, so pretty much anyone can find something they'll like. I ordered the Eggs Benedict, and it was delicious. The restaurant itself is very compact with a strong diner vibe. Seating feels a bit crammed, so I wouldn't recommend it for large parties or big gatherings. That said, the service was great -- friendly, attentive, and efficient, which definitely added to the experience. One word: bland. We had a meat lover's omelet and gluten-free breakfast wrap with grits and GF waffle. Just no seasoning on anything. We had to add a lot of salt and pepper to everything. My burrito was chewy and needed to be seared more. It was dripping with butter in a not pleasant way. I did enjoy the waffle though. Service was efficient but not friendly. Nice quaint nostalgic restaurant on Ft Wayne's south side. I had their meatloaf dinner with mashed potatoes and green beans. The meatloaf was delicious but the mashed potatoes didn't have any gravy and were relatively hard. The green beans were fine nothing special. My wife had their pulled pork BBQ sandwich with fries. All of her entree was very flavorful and plenty of fries. The whole place is very clean and their servers are attentive but not bothersome and kept our drinks filled. So, Sara's is an old-school "diner" type of breakfast place. The walls are decorated with US Presidential memorabilia. My two observations: 1) This is a great place to come if you want a quick, patriotic breakfast. Service is always great. There are lots of tables close together, since the venue is kind of small, but they always get us a table quickly. 2) Portion sizes are huge. I mean, massive. That's good if you're a starved 18-year-old kid who needs a high protein breakfast before the big game, but maybe not so great if you're watching your weight. Just be prepared. read more

First I have a three month old so she's in a car seat and They don't have any slings so I had to leave my three month old on the table in her car seat. Second service was not the best server seemed a little overwhelmed and really busy and when talking to her she had an attitude. Had to ask for a box twice and when told my order, I asked for my eggs on the side and did not receive them on the side and was told that she could take it back to the kitchen but they're just gonna take them off and give them right back to me so I responded by saying never mind. I'll just eat it. Food could've had more seasoning and more flavor. Third I feel like it's a little overpriced for what you get and how the food taste like honestly, I feel like breakfast wise everything should be $10 or less.Overall experience could've been better. The burger, topped with a soggy bun, had excessive slaw that overpowered the flavor. The Mac and cheese and green bean casserole lacked flavor, even with added salt and pepper. Homey, huge menu. The items we chose were all good. Fries were crispy. Coleslaw was mayo based and I liked it. My husband had a patty melt, that he liked. My son had pancakes (all day offering on the kids menu) and I had a BLT which had thin crispy bacon (my favorite). Entrees we chose were all good. It's really what I'd categorize as midwestern non-descript food... it took awhile for me to recall what wet had from our visit 6 weeks ago, but I'd go again because it was reasonably priced and everything was good. The menu and place definitely is red, white and blue, i think because politicos have come here to campaign. One was Hillary Clinton back when she was going for the presidency, heck she even has a breakfast named after her. That said, a lot of famous Americans have dishes named after them on this menu. My mom decided to have a simple breakfast of eggs and toast. My brother and I both ordered Clara Barton's Eggs Benedict, which is the traditional Eggs Benedict in other places. We both got it with a side of hashbrowns and bacon. The Eggs Benedict was heavenly and perfectly made. The eggs were done right, where they are runny but not too runny. That is not easy to do! Yet the hashbrowns were tasteless as they had no seasoning?!?? That is an odd mistake, considering breakfast potatoes are easier to make than Eggs Benedict. The bacon was of course very good and we also got some grits which were delicious. All in all it was an enjoyable meal and I am happy to come back on another occasion. Been our family with our kids for many years, but recently in Sept 2025 and October things have changed. Breakfast always great but who can ruin eggs? Always went for diner 1- 2 times a week for meat loaf plate. Now last 4 times I ordered it again and again and all were terrible, medium rare meat loaf always. Brought it home tonight and will fully cook it again. It use to be well done and fully cooked. Now its rare in center. I did not order steak medium rare. So tonight was our last time to go there for meat loaf. They must have changed their chef? Its to obvious the food has now suffered. Rare pink meat loaf is bad that use to be the best in town. This place was good but given we live an hour away, I probably wouldn't drive over just to eat here. Our server, Olivia, was extremely nice and attentive. Decor here is Patriotic/Presidential themed and the dining room and restrooms were very clean. We enjoyed playing tic tac toe on the board painted on the table. To eat, we had burger and fries, biscuits and gravy, meat lovers omelette, and chicken and waffles. They have a huge menu and serve breakfast all day. There's something for everyone. The food was good but not overly impressive. The only negative was that at the booth we sat at, back near the restrooms, had a window opening that allowed viewing into the kitchen. This seems to be a place where employees hangout when they aren't busy. It was a little awkward because they would sometimes look through the opening and into the dining room. Found a lovely gem of a spot with great food and services. Staff all wore masks and gloves and social distancing enforced Service was quick, and friendly. We were seated almost immediately. Our waitress was so sweet and very attentive. We wanted for nothing Due to COVID19 as expected we had individual condiments and paper menus. . Ambiance was cozy and quaint Food- portions were enough for several people and there were just 2 of us. Tex Mex omelet had sausage, onions, pepper jack cheese, black beans and extra jalapeños. Simply delicious. I had Lincoln's Breakfast which was eggs, ham, bacon, sausage and added pancakes! Greedy eating but tasty bites for sure! We had a party of 5 at 6PM on a Saturday and did not have to wait more than a couple minutes, which was great. Our server was quick to the table for a drink order. The menu is HUGE which has pros and cons. It's great if you have a bunch of people with different palates. We all had a hard time choosing what to go with since none of us had ever been. The prices aren't too bad, maybe a little inflated for some things but overall reasonable. The restaurant itself is fairly small. It's decorated with little knickknacks, some antiques. There is a history theme going on. It feels very much like a diner, but without the counter top seating. The food itself was good, not great. It came quickly, and was hot. The portions were very generous, including the ramekins of sides (ranch, butter, etc). If I'm in Fort Wayne again, I'd probably go back to try breakfast. read more

I ordered dinner through Waiter on the Way to have delivered. I ordered the meatloaf dinner. Not crazy at all about their meatloaf I thought it was pretty bland not much flavor and way too thick... Green bean casserole was good. Mashed potatoes still have skin on them and they were a little chunky... Macaroni and cheese was horrible tasted just like processed macaroni and cheese not homemade. Now this being said I have had breakfast there before and it was good so maybe dinner just isn't their specialty..IDN... But I won't recommend meatloaf to anybody. And using waiter on the way is not cheap as they have everything already marked up so I actually paid more than I would have if I went in and eat. read more

The facility was clean and had an americana decor. Every table comes with a tic tax toe board taped to the table if that interests you. The menu is very large. I think I saw 15 pages plus a seasonal menu. They have something for everyone- even breakfast all day. On this visit I had the breaded tenderloin. The tenderloin was nicely breaded, moist and decent sized. The bun was large, toasted and buttery. The French fries were nice and crispy. Give it a try! read more

I love going to Sara's, especially with my family. It's a great environment, the waitress was so patient with us and we really appreciated her hard work. I love getting breakfast here, I haven't tried lunch/dinner. However it's always a fan favorite in my household. I cannot eat eggs which can be difficult for breakfast foods however, their side menu has great options if you're vegetarian or vegan. The restaurant is a cute little historical like feel. With different US historical figures around the place, Knick knacks, and their menu is based off of figures as well. I LOVED that the breakfast menu was named after historical women. This is my new favorite spot in town. The plates remind me of my southern roots, just some good down home cooking. They have everything! Breakfast all day and options for every diet or flavor. Normally I don't like menus that could be books but they really deliver on everything they offer. The server was confident and timed drink refills and the rhythm of the meal just right.
