This might be the best Thai place in Fort Wayne? We've been to a bunch of different Thai restaurants in town, Thai Diner being our favorite... But Yum Thai may just take the cake. Been nearly a year since previous review (have dined here many times in that 11+ months, however). Here's an update! We love Yum Thai! The owner is so kind, the service friendly and efficient. The food fresh and delicious! The atmosphere simple, bright, and casual. Shared the cucumber salad to start. One can see just by the pic below how fresh it is... very crisp and refreshing. Not just cucumbers but an actual veggie salad. Husband got the Thai Basil, which never disappoints! He really enjoyed it! I have a hard time not ordering Three Best Friends, as it is SO delicious! Previous photo of this dish shows the 3 proteins (you pick them: beef, chicken, pork, seafood, tofu) of beef, shrimp, and tofu. This time , I chose chicken, shrimp, and tofu. I have been coming here since I moved to Fort Wayne 3 years ago. It has always been very good. The staff is very friendly and service is efficient. However the last two times I have ordered their Shrimp Pad Thai the flavor just wasn't there. Something was missing as it was quite bland with the exception of the "spice level". I always order it with very light spice and the last two times it has been very spicy. The first time this happened I chalked it up to an exception. The second time I consider it probably the norm. So perhaps they have changed cooks. Whatever the issue, I'm disappointed and probably won't try a third time. read more

Yum Thai never disappoints. Great folks, amazing food! Almost everything can be made vegan, lots of gluten free options too. Portions and prices are definitely fair. Lunches cannot be beat, a lunch sized portion, egg roll, and soup if you're dining in. Not all lunch soups are vegan, but the ones that are have been amazing. This place was awesome! We stopped by here to grab a bite to eat, and it did not disappoint at all! The staff made our food Thai hot, exactly like we asked for. That always makes a difference to me, because it's a little disappointing when the heat isn5 hot enough when you're asking for it. The green curry was authentic and their boba tea with coconut milk was a great way to end the meal. This place made me feel so happy and full, I didn't want to leave. Lol. I am normally not on the east side of town, but returning from visiting a friend, I thought I'd stop and get Yum Thai carryout. I had the Pad Thai with beef and oh the flavors! See now I'm questioning every yelp review I come by because anyone who gives this place less than 4-5 stars is delusional. I have received amazing service every time I've been there, especially with my child. I cannot remember a time where I had a restaurant experience where I did not have to ask for anything because they always made sure I had everything I needed or already provided it. Everything tastes very fresh and good and my 1yr old eats everything from here including vegetables which he has been picky about lately! Been eating here for years and still always get a chicken fried rice (no spice), side of crab Rangoon appetizer, and a blended mango smoothie with strawberry popping bubbles. sometimes slow depending if you come during dinner but if you catch the lunch special it's cheaper, and comes with soup/crab Rangoon or egg roll and is so much speedier! yummy food all around here! love to support local and the owner is so kind always! I only have two things that bother me, they offer one less wing now per order but same price. Which is ok! But the white rice portion is so small! I came in for my Bobba teas, which are usually good. Today, they tasted very watered down and the bobba was a mush. I called to just see if they could replace them, knowing sometimes stuff happens. To my surprise the man I talked to on the phone did NOTHING but argue with me going as far as telling me I never even came in to even purchase anything. I told him I have the purchase proof on my bank app. He didn't help nor even offer a replacement. if you order from this place do not leave until you taste the Bobba tea to make sure it is what you ordered. They just argue. I felt like instead of making it right they just wanted to come up with excuses to not make it right. Which makes no since. Very disappointed and I won't be back. read more

We went to Yum Thai today and it was nice to see the apparently they were voted the best Thai restaurant in Fort Wayne for two straight years. I was extremely disappointed that this is not the case.... The only decent thing was the crab Rangoon (but still not good). The calamari wasn't even seasoned. The curry wasn't even spicy and server never asked how hot I'd like it. But worst of all we had a chicken wing that was RAW and blood was still coming out (thankfully we caught it before eating it). They apologized and gave us new wings but still not impressed. The food is just ok, and lacked seasoning all around, very bland. There are a lot of other Thai or Asian infusion placeS in Fort Wayne. UPDATE: After eating at many Thai places this is the best Thai food spot in Fort Wayne so far! Also now I just get their Thai fried rice with no spice. Maybe I need to get more use to spicy food . Yum Thai is absolutely delicious! The only confusing part is the spice when making a take out order. I thought "medium" would not be that spicy and I was wrong. I could barely eat my fried rice but it was so good that I just kept drinking multiple cups of water. I highly recommend this place but maybe next time I will call before picking which amount of spicy to get. Also their Thai coffee is delicious. However, just a heads up it is not super creamy it is more of a true coffee drink. For me I love that but I know some people expect sweet when getting Thai. read more

Okay. Let me begin by saying the food was very good. My husband and I got there about 7:50. I called beforehand to see what time they closed. 9pm. So we had a good amount of time. We got a sweet waiter named Parker. He was polite and funny. We ordered egg rolls for our app. They came out in a timely manner and were hot and decent. (Not as good as Saigon or Baan Thai. But good) We were sat by the kitchen and every 3 minutes or so, the door would swing open and a waiter would be carrying a takeout bag. For the first half an hour, we were patient. But after seeing these takeout orders over and over, we got quite frustrated. After we had been there an hour and they were closing in 10 minutes, we told Parker to just go ahead and box it up. He said "Oh it's okay. We stay after." So we told him we understood it wasn't his fault, but it had been almost an hour and we still didn't have food. All of these other people that came in after us, had been served. A TON of carry out orders had been filled. And yet, here we are with no food. And he said "it shouldn't take much longer. They just started it." What??? Why are they just now starting it?! I was so annoyed at that point. "Please just box it up!" Poor Parker. Anyway, we got home and ate. The food was really good. The Pad Thai is my favorite - the pickup is a little spotty - depends on time and how busy. If you order spicy expect just that.

The food was fresh and edible, and for that I will give it two stars. The food is depressing, and I wouldn't call it authentic by any stretch, making me question if the chef is even Thai or has any knowledge of Thai cuisine other than a Rachel Ray cook book from Amazon. The whole flavor profile was wrong and bland, and I had to ask for fish sauce because the dish wasn't even cooked with one of the most vital ingredients. The egg was scrambled and left on top like a weird garnish on one of the dishes. The two dishes that were ordered tasted exactly the same except for the weak spice factor out of one. I will not be coming back, and I am sorry that I chose to try this place out. Do yourself a favor and go to Mahnin or somewhere else. read more

I get carryout here almost every Friday night after work. Best comfort food. We love the Tom Yum Soup with chicken in Thai hot which comes with side of rice, and their chicken satays - our usual orders every week. Fills up our tummies just right. Their wait is usually an hour long whenever I order but I guess that's also a good reflection of how busy and sought-after their dishes are. Staff is very nice and friendly too! Yum Thai is located in Georgetown Square, directly across the parking lot from Kroger. I guess it's been there for about a year. I went there for lunch for the first time today. It's nice to have another option besides Coney Dogs and ribs or Mexican food at this shopping center. This is a pretty basic little spot. Tables in the center, booths along the walls. Clean. If you're looking for atmosphere, this isn't the place. If you're looking for some good, reasonably priced Thai food, this is a good choice. The restaurant has lots of choices, but I opted for the $7.99 lunch special. I had a cup of the soup of the day (egg drop) chicken Pad Thai, egg roll. They also had a beverage special, which was BOGO Thai iced tea. I had one with lunch, and took one to go. The service was friendly and efficient, and the food was delicious. You choose your spiciness level when you order. I chose "medium" although I do like spicy food. I just decided to play it safe. The egg drop soup was pretty standard. The Pad Thai was very good! The portion was large for lunch, so I took leftovers home. The egg roll was piping hot and tasted great. All in all a good experience. I will return there to try other offerings. They have a lunch loyalty punch card. You buy 7 lunches, get the 8th free. Not too bad. They also deliver with a $25 minimum order between 11AM and 8PM, within a 5 mile radius. Although the pad thai was good, it wasn't remarkable. Friend ordered the lunch sized basil chicken and it was tiny but tasty.
