They start out like everyone else with white belts, and have progressed to their current orange belts. I like that they have their weekly private lessons where they can learn the various forms, techniques, and get very technical in their practice. The more direct teachings from the private lesson help them develop their skills while the dojo also holds daily group classes. These classes occur throughout the week as well as Saturdays, and while I try my best to take them in to as many during the week as possible I'm not always able to bring my kids in. During these group classes they get to exercise and work on some group activities, such as group sparring, or punches and kicks on the pads. The senseis all know my kids by name and are very approachable, as well as when we could not make it to our private lessons due to vacation or illness we have always been able to request for a make up class and they are very accommodating with the rescheduling. If you're interested in putting your child into karate but are unsure if your kid is a good match, they do have trials which they will spend a few minutes with your child and work through a short private lesson to gauge their interest. Also, while my kids are not in tournaments, be aware you will have to invest a bit into their growth with sparring gear, outfit, and maybe the occasional long trip to a tournament.

Both my son, and now my 5 year old daughter, have been taking classes here for almost a year now. Our first encounter was with Sensei Christine. She is so friendly and easy to talk to, and basically the administrative backbone of this place. Whenever I had a question, schedule change, or whatever, she has always been so accommodating and makes you feel like you a part of a family. My kids absolutely love Sensei Jack! He always makes classes engaging and funny. He is really good with the kids. I like how they not only teach karate, but also the principles of karate and how to deal with every day life situations, like dealing with a bully. I have learned some life lessons myself while watching in on his group classes! The program itself consists of a 30-minute one-on-one with a trainer and then 3 optional 45-minute group classes (based on age). They earn stripes on their belts depending on what they have learned for that particular belt. Once they receive 4 stripes they can test for the next color belt. Tests are usually done once a month. The kids have incentives to earn "ninja dollars" which they can collect to redeem for toys at the "ninja store." Master Turner is as good with kids as he is with adults, and the other instructors, all of whom he has hand-picked, are also superb. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. I've been working out here for 10 years now, and never plan to stop.

And what other sport can you do that encourages you to scream as loud as you can. At first it feels strange, but it's such great stress relief! Along with the adult class I attend, there are two kids' classes that precede it. From sitting in on several of the kids' classes, it is obvious that kendo is great for them because it helps instill in them the virtues of discipline, honor, confidence, and perseverance. The kids class is intense, but I have never seen a group of kids so eager to learn, respectful, and grateful for the opportunity to learn the sport. I can't say enough great things about this place. E-Bogu was significantly cheaper then the supplier in my part of town and the reviews of their products were all very high. The store is really just the warehouse for the website (there is no show room) but they have staff to assist you. I went to the warehouse so I could get the proper sizes as that is always an issue when ordering online, which was a good idea since their sizing chart would have given me a keikogi that was too small in the chest (thankfully the lady helping me immediately saw that and got me a better size). All in all it was a good experience and for the price of one uniform at my local supplier I got two from E-Bogu. When I comes time to get my Bogu I think I'll be driving out to Irvine again.

But we spent alittle over $300 there on everything! There is a $35 or $45 entrance fee depending on when you come. It's just to come inside the lagoon. If you want the obstacle course it's an additional $10 per person for 55 mins (super short). If you want to kayak, use the aqua bike or use the paddleboard it's an additional $10 per equipment/item. There is a kiddie area for small and young children. They DO NOT allow outside food or drinks except water! There is a small shop that sells misc. items, snacks & drinks (overpriced). They also had a foodtruck inside that was expensive and the meals didn't come with drinks. They do have plenty of staff and lifeguards there. The entrance fee should of been $15-20. The obstacle course atleast 90-120 mins instead of the 55 mins. Wish the foodtruck came with drinks and was a bigger portion.

My son has been attending karate classes at Tajik Karate Academy for over 2.5 years now and has just recently received his brown belt. He has always been interested in martial arts and previously tried other ones since he was about 3 years old. However, the longest time he lasted in those was from just a few weeks to a year. Training at Tajik Karate Academy has been the best experience for my child by far. They include not only formal karate training, but also fun games that the students enjoy. Sensei Alex Tajik is an amazing instructor and mentor to my son. He believes in him and knows that he is very capable. In addition, Sensei Alex has patiently motivated and encouraged my child while pushing his boundaries to enable him to reach a higher level in his journey towards his goal of achieving his black belt. The knowledge and skills that Sensei Alex has given my son are extremely valuable because he has greatly improved in his practice these past couple of years. I tried to send my son to Karate few years ago and initially he never wanted to go. He is now ten and finally by end of 2017 he agreed to try it out and we did a trial class at Tajik. After the trial class and meeting with Sensei my son was so eager to go back. I mainly wanted him to learn karate to improve his focus, self confidence and discipline. It's been almost 10 months since he started at Tajik and this is one activity of the week my son so look forward to do than anything else. Sensei Alex and Sensei Mike make the class fun for the kids and at the same time instill core values of focus, discipline and self-confidence without them even knowing it. Sensei Alex also encourages kids to participate in tournaments which gives them a great platform to test their skills they learned at class. My son has been participating in tournaments recently and has already won two first prizes in his category. He is so motivated to continue his practice and one day get his black belt and I am sure with Sensei Alex's coaching and guidance he will get there soon! The best decision I could've ever made when choosing a martial art was joining Sensei Alex's dojo. I started as a complete novice in karate (a white belt with no idea what she was doing) and with Sensei Alex and Sensei Mike's help I have now moved up to an orange belt. They are both so kind and helpful: if you need to learn new moves they will both help you until you have it down and if you are learning new kata Sensei Alex allows you to film him running through the routine so that you can practice at home and be ready for your test. This doesn't feel like class to me.. it feels like home.. a place where I can learn and grow in the art! Please do not hesitate to enroll your children here (or even join yourself as an adult like I did). You and/or your child(ren) will grow and learn each class under great instruction. Tajik Karate Academy is an outstanding place for kids to learn karate and grow in many important ways. I currently have two children enrolled, and I've been truly impressed by the positive changes I've seen in both of them. Not only have they become physically stronger and more active, but they've also developed greater mental focus, discipline, and self-confidence since starting their training. Senseis Alex and Nadia are exceptional instructors. My son is 8yrs old and currently enrolled with Sensei Alex at Tajik Academy. I have been trying to find a Karate Academy which is the perfect blend of Karate skills, self-defense and discipline. He has been going to Sensei Alex classes for past 2 months and I have never seen my son so excited and eager to go to any sports activities. Sensei Alex and his team make the program fun, challenging while teaching the art of Karate. He takes the time to understand where the child is in their journey and what he needs to concentrate. I started one month ago with Tajik Karate Academy. I love the energy, the personal attention given to each individuals training. Such a great and supportive environment, the focus on the art and the style of teaching has guided me to a higher level of the art in such a short period of time. I highly recommend this Dojo to beginners and those with experience. The skills and experience that i have already gained words can not explain. We recently completed the one-month trial at this karate academy, and it was a great experience overall. The classes were interactive, disciplined, and genuinely fun. The instructors did a wonderful job keeping the kids engaged while also teaching them important skills and respect for the practice. My daughter, who is 7 years old, enjoyed the sessions--especially the partner activities and learning new moves. Tajik Academy not only works on the physical and technical skills of a student, but also on their disciplinary aspects. My son started attending karate classes since November 2014 and simply loves each class. His personality was positively influenced and I can see tremendous growth,. Our experience with this karate academy has been nothing short of amazing. The senseis here have helped transform our child's confidence, turning shyness into strength and self-assurance. Sensei Alex is a wonderful Karate instructor. My 8-year old son has been attending the school going on 2 months and really enjoys the martial arts training lead by Sensei Alex and his fantastic team. The school provides a well established supportive learning environment where the kids have so much fun and take pride in learning to gain self confidence. I would highly encourage parents to come and visit Sensei Alex at the Tajik Karate Academy to see what it's all about. My 4 year old son has been a student here for a few months now. He has already learned a lot from Sensei Alex. He really enjoys his class and fellow students. He attends the Tuesday and Thursday classes where he gets more one on one time with Sensei and he looks forward to advancing. Sensei Alex is wonderful with the children and is very patient, kind and structured. My son looks forward to going every week and really enjoys the positive learning environment. I took my son to a couple Martial Art places prior to coming to Mr Tajik. I was very disappointed in both places. One of the place owns by my sons friend's father. the class size of both places were too big and the instructors were not paying attention to my son. I heard from a friend whom is also a karate expert about Mr Tajik. Mr Tajik seems to care about his students. The most important thing is that the instructors here pay close attention on my son and corrects his errors. I highly recommend this place all my friends. read more

My kids LOVE Tajik karate! We started a few months ago and they look forward to every class and enjoy every minute when they are there. Sensei Alex has taught them discipline, respect, athleticism and all while they are learning karate moves and having fun! Of all the activities my kids participate in, this by far is their favorite. They never leave the class not smiling and talking about how much fun they had. We have been coming to Tajik Karate for two years, and it has been an amazing experience. This family-owned dojo is truly special. The improvement we have seen in our child's confidence, as well as their physical and mental growth, has been remarkable. Price is $200 a month with a 6 month commitment with initiation fee, $230 if you want to go month to month. Since it seemed like our kiddo wasn't quite into it yet and maybe too young, we didn't sign up. I will say though, the establishment is clean. The instructors are attentive and it really requires discipline for the kids. We would consider trying again at a later time but the price tag just seems too high.

The coaches are incredibly patient and intentional. They take the time to break things down step by step, demonstrate each move, and give my child the opportunity to learn through repetition and practice in a way that really works for her. What has been most meaningful is seeing my child's confidence grow because she is improving in not only technical skills, but also in how to carry herself in just daily everyday life. Over the past few years, we have seen tremendous growth in her confidence, discipline, and perseverance. In the beginning, she wasn't very interested, and there was a point when she even wanted to quit because the forms were becoming more challenging. I spoke with Master Choi about it, and he was incredibly supportive. The instructors slowed down the form practice to help her better follow along. With patience, encouragement, and consistent practice, she eventually mastered it -- and that moment was incredibly meaningful for her. Now, my daughter proactively practices her forms on her own, and Taekwondo has become part of her daily life. Through Taekwondo, she has learned not only physical skills, but also important life values: never giving up, respect, discipline, and self-control. Master Choi, Master Tracy, and all the black belt instructors consistently reinforce these lessons. They are firm when needed, but always kind and encouraging. You can genuinely see that they care about each child's growth. What I appreciate most is seeing the kids truly enjoy the classes while learning in a positive environment. It's a place that builds real relationships. Some of the people I met on these mats stood next to me in my wedding. That alone speaks to the culture. It's also incredibly beginner friendly. I've watched brand new students walk in nervous and unsure, and within weeks they're confident, supported, and improving quickly. The coaching staff meets people where they are while still holding a high technical standard. I've visited other academies throughout the years while traveling, and nothing compares. The instruction from Professor Giva, Mo, Wellington, and Caio is elite. Their attention to detail, structure in class, and ability to develop both competitors and hobbyists sets the tone for everything. I've also watched the kids program grow over the years. The structure, discipline, and confidence they instill in those kids is impressive. I don't have kids yet, but when I do, there's no question where they'll be training. Training here is the part of my day I look forward to most. If you're looking for high-level jiu jitsu in a welcoming, professional environment, this is it.
