Save room for dessert and try the ice cream / krispy rice "sushi" roll that you can dip in chocolate. We ended up just ordering anything off the menu as not to bother our bartender. All of the food was incredible! Spicy edamame- excellent flavor, just the right amount of spice, with a large portion. Negi Hama - fine, fresh, plain. Amberjack Nigiri- firm and fresh! Aburi Sake- torched Salmon belly, truffle- delightful, melted in your mouth. Chilean Seabass- this was the highlight. Buttery, flakey, perfection. The puree went so nicely with the dish. We also had a strawberry cheesecake for dessert- what a fun dessert with the ice shavings. I recently enjoyed a dinner at Takato and had such a delicious meal. We were seated outside and were able to enjoy a nice view of the ocean. The service was very attentive and checked on us often. We also brought our dog and the server ensured he was kept hydrated! While the restaurant is definitely pricey, the flavors were stunning and I had several items that I'd gladly go back and have again. As appetizers, we ordered the crispy breaded shrimp, spicy edamame, and crispy tuna. My favorite of the three was the spicy edamame, which was not spicy at all coming from someone who cannot handle spice well! The chili oil gave it a really nice flavor. I also really enjoyed the spicy tunas rice, but did find that to have a bit of a spice kick. I found myself enjoying the Makis more than the nigiris. I loved the Spicy Hotate Maki and the Negi Toro. Would gladly have those both again and again! I also really enjoyed the salmon tataki. I am a fan of truffle and the flavor was definitely noticeable, while not being overwhelming. We ended with a small plate of mochi ice cream. I found the flavors to all taste about the same, even though they were meant to be distinct. The manager was such a sweetheart, but our waiter was questionable. We couldn't tell if he was sober. For a group of three, we ordered the crispy Brussels sprouts, Wagyu gyoza, kimchi fried rice, and the Wagyu skirt steak. The winners were the kimchi fried rice and skirt steak--both were juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The only dish we probably wouldn't order again was the Wagyu gyoza. We had very different experiences here for dinner vs breakfast. Breakfast was maybe one of the best we've ever had: service was impeccable, the food was so unique and delicious (get the benedict and the croissant waffle) , the latte was excellent. For dinner, the service was just as good but the crab fried rice was dry, lacked flavor, and the rice undercooked. The lamb chops were very good but all three cooked to different doneness and we had to send one back that was very rare. The crispy spicy tuna was very good. Excellent experience and quality food! I enjoyed my birthday celebration here and I felt incredibly special despite it being on a busy Mother's Day weekend. The spicy tuna roll and oysters were amazing. We followed that with the crab fried rice, intending to save some for our entrée, but it was so good we ended up eating almost all of it before the main courses arrived -- like potato chips, impossible to stop. The bulgogi was fantastic -- a little messy to eat, but absolutely worth it. The lettuce leaves provided were on the small side, making it difficult to load them with both rice and meat, but the flavor more than made up for it. My wife ordered the fish and enjoyed it very much. Keep room for the ice cream rolls, an extra special treat to finish the dinner. Our server was friendly, attentive, and provided good service throughout the meal. If you choose to dine outside, the beach view is beautiful, but be prepared for some wind -- at one point it literally blew my lettuce leaves off the table. One note on parking: valet is $60 if you want your car kept up front, which is the highest valet charge we've experienced. Restaurant validation reduces parking to $17, which is a much better option. Overall, a very enjoyable dining experience with excellent food, beautiful scenery, and service that would bring us back again. read more

Overall the service was very good and the food came out it's a good speed and in a nice order since they bring the items out once ready in waves. They serve their entrees to the table over a flame dish so it basically just keeps cooking your meat once it is delivered which is just a recipe for disaster as it will naturally overcook it. I absolutely love this spot. I took my daughter here for her birthday. We had reservations and were seated immediately. My favorite dish was the Branzino , it was so good, perfectly made, and very fresh. The service was great, and since it was her birthday, they surprised her with a free dessert. Really cool sushi spot- nice vibe and if you can sit outside, it's fantastic. Cocktails are good- maybe slightly on the sweet side, but still tasty drinks. Tried the Golden Bee and the Takato Smash. I think I liked the Takato Smash more. Tried a bunch of appetizers, the shrimp tempura was nice and crispy and salty. The bao buns- the buns themselves were soft and fluffy, duck tender and came apart very nicely. Rolls were great, sashimi tasted fresh, the lamb chops were cooked very well. Lobster udon- noodles were nice and chewy. Shared a shaved ice dessert- I forgot what it was called but it had frozen shaved milk and some strawberry mochi in the middle. Whatever it was, it was amazing. Service was good. Really the only downside was the obnoxiously loud group sitting next to us. They also threw crap that landed on our sashimi bowl. I had dinner at Takato a couple of nights ago, and it was absolutely amazing. The restaurant is beautiful inside and has a stunning patio with ocean views, which is where we sat. We started off with some drinks, and I ordered a lychee martini that was incredible. I thoroughly enjoyed it. For appetizers, we had a rice dish topped with salmon--I don't remember the exact name, but it was delicious. Next, we tried the shrimp tempura rolls, which are my favorite type of sushi, and they tasted amazing. The sauce on top added the perfect touch of flavor. The oysters were pretty good, and I enjoyed the topping on them. I can't recall exactly which nigiri pieces I ordered, but they tasted fresh. The nigiri with the uni (pictured) was a burst of different flavors--I expected to love it, but I didn't. I'm not a fan of the texture of the tuna; it tasted mushy. Uni in general isn't my favorite, but I gave it another try and found it had a strange, very fishy aftertaste. The torched salmon nigiri with caviar and truffle was surprisingly underwhelming, especially since I usually love both caviar and fresh truffle. The spare ribs were slightly overdone, though the sauce was tasty. The fried rice was well-flavored--not the best I've had, but it did the job. We ordered drinks, appetizers and a bunch of different entrées. All recommended by our server and absolutely delicious. Waiter was nice and the place just felt a little upscale with pulling out your chair, pouring your water etc. The lychee martini was pretty good. The angry chicken was also pretty good- not very spicy. The duck bao bun was great- the best duck I've had in a while. Totally thought the shrimp tempura was going to be a roll whoops my bad, the sauce saved the day for that dish as it was pretty bland without it. We came here a while back and the main thing that brought me back was the hot stone A5 wagyu. It is a must! We had Vinny as our server and he was fantastic, recommendations were on point! Please order the shrimp fried rice with the A5, we upgraded to 4 ounces for a little bit more and it was so worth it. We also got the branzino which could have used a little salt however the skin was so delicious by itself; very crispy! For something to pick at the spicy edamame were delicious and for dessert you have to get the sushi ice cream, I said I wouldn't order it, but it was one of the best desserts I've ever had! There was so much drink and food selection, with something for everyone. I tried the Wagyu beef sashimi with truffle, shrimp tempura roll, kimchi fried rice (which was a bit spicy for me), and the sushi ice cream (Rice Krispies with ice cream and topped with matcha). I regularly spend $250-600 on special dinners and have extensive dining experience across Asia and the US. This isn't a bash, just pointing out what could elevate these dishes. I'll return to try more. Service: 5/5 Exceptional. Staff was warm and attentive, water glasses stayed full, perfect pacing on food and drinks. Venue: 5/5 Sat inside due to weather. Upscale lighting and layout. Watching the sushi bar hand-craft each piece was a nice touch. Food: 2/5 Spicy Edamame (4/5): Hot, with a nice sweet-spicy coating. Needs salt. Just a sprinkle would create the sweet-spicy-salty contrast this dish is begging for. Easiest fix possible. Oysters (1/5): Complete miss. I've tried oysters from many spots and these really let me down. Ponzu granita, apple pieces, Serrano pepper, plus lime created citrus overload that buried the oyster. The granita's slushy texture killed the simplicity oysters need. Too many competing elements with no clear direction to complement the oysters. There isn't enough contrast between all the elements. My wife and I really looked forward to this dish and it was a shame. Chef's Choice Nigiri (2/5): Biggest letdown. Rice was off. Each piece lacked identity. The fatty tuna was an extreme letdown, same with the other fish. Good nigiri should only need a slight dip in soy sauce, if any. A nigiri platter is the chef's chance to showcase creativity with components that keep you coming back for more, but this spread was a complete letdown. The sake (king salmon), maguro (tuna), and hamachi (yellowtail) were our first three bites and my wife and I looked at each other in disappointment because every bite tasted the same. For the price they're serving this sushi at, there needs to be a revamp on the toppings to make these nigiri unforgettable. I'm confident they could do much better. Didn't get a photo but presentation was at least nice. Spicy Yellowtail (2/5): From a culinary standpoint, this dish lacked identity to set itself apart from regular sushi restaurants. My wife ordered this as the redemption dish and it disappointed. No spicy sauce or component to offset the bland combination of wasabi, rice, spicy yellowtail, and jalapeño. A restaurant of this caliber could provide something so much more creative. This dish is 2 components away from becoming great, and that's 1 too many for $18. Wagyu Gyoza (3/5): Needed a few more seconds of searing for a crispier crust. Quality wagyu was amazing. The problem was the same as the edamame: lack of salt and seasoning. The dipping sauce needs changing. I love the green onion idea in the thin sauce but it didn't take the gyoza to the next level. A touch of sweetness to the sauce and salt/seasoning within the gyoza would take this to another planet. I give this 3/5 because you can't overlook the quality ingredients, but that doesn't excuse lack of flavor. Some may have a minimalist view on wagyu but I've been to many places in Asia and around the states with less quality ingredients that packed more flavor. Sushi Ice Cream (5/5): Complimentary for my birthday, completely unexpected. Very happy for the kind gesture and it boosted morale for my wife and me. Because at the end of the day I'm not trying to bash the business, I want to see it thrive (as it already may be). The rice crispy shell and creamy ice cream complimented by thick chocolate ganache was heavenly. This shows the restaurant can be creative and I was very pleased. My wife and I were so happy. Didn't get a photo of this either. Drinks: 5/5 Easily the best drinks my wife and I have had in a long time. Korean Zombie (5/5): Flavor combo was out of this world. From presentation to flavor, nothing wrong with this drink. Perfect balance of alcohol to citrus. The rum and plum soju completed by grapefruit and lime. Thanks to our waiter who suggested this amazing drink. Fugu Cup (5/5): Walking in, almost every table had the vibrant blue pufferfish glass. Absolute hit and we're here for all the hype. The tequila and watermelon profile blew me away with how fresh it tasted. Usually watermelon juice drinks are way too sweet for me, but I was very pleased with this. Amazing presentation and super creative blend of watermelon, ginger, lime and tequila. Overall: 2/5 I know this seems like a low score but I'm hoping someone in charge reads this. I'm not a know-it-all and I'm sure the restaurant is doing great, but I'm sure some foodies who have traveled far and wide can agree.
