Food was amazing, service was very good considering how busy the restaurant was. We had drinks, salads entrees, and dessert. Nothing was left to be desired. The price points were pretty high but was to be expected in this swanky establishment located on the second floor of the Conrad hotel. With validation for the valet parking which brought the price to $16. All in all it was a very enjoyable evening with my honey. With pictures to share!!!!
Nothing beats a nice dinner with an ocean view. Food was fantastic. Can't go wrong with Hokkaido scallops, wagyu, salmon belly, uni, and truffle. Our server was great with his recommendations.
I've been to Takato before, and returned to celebrate my anniversary with my boyfriend. After returning and reconsidering, I must say I did find the food and portions quite pricey for what you get. You do have to consider that it is ocean-front dining and you do get a spectacular view no doubt! However, if you are there for the food rather than the view, it is definitely a higher priced spot. Price aside, the flavors were very good. My boyfriend and I both loved the flavor of the spicy edamame and I'd highly recommend that dish! We also had the crispy tuna, and I do have to warn that if you are sensitive to spice, this dish is probably one you should pass on. We also had the baked scallops, but I was a bit shocked by how small they were. Along with the spicy edamame, our other favorite for the night was the blue crab and scallop maki. Loved that one both times that I had it! The service was nice, although I do wish that for a pricier spot they had asked if we were celebrating any special occasion. Nonetheless, we had a wonderful dinner with a beautiful view!
Food amazing! Service amazing! Ambiance amazing! Oysters 9/10-so refreshing! It had chopped apples! Delicious! Crispy Rice w/Tuna 10/10 nothing original- however crispy rice was super hot and crispy! Flavor and tuna texture so good! Yellowtail sushi roll 10/10- doesn't seem like much in the photo- but one of the best yellow tail rolls I've eaten. Lightweight portion of fresh yellowtail- with light greens- Ribs 100/10 yes I rated it 100/10!!! Literally falls off bone and so fluffy and flavorful! Slaw is a nice refreshing texture! Wagyu gyoza 8.9- super flavorful and cooked to perfection- however needed salt to bring out flavors. Chef needs to taste- Lobster udon 8/10- huge fresh chunks of lobster with udon noodles- lobster quality was good but noodles could've been more al dente - kimchi beef rice- 9.2 perfect dish for carbs and protein. Devine. - sushi for dessert! They legit took rice crispy treat-rolled it out- spread vanilla ice cream on top and rolled it like a sushi roll! Served with chocolate sauce for dipping and berries. Tell this isn't genius! Danny the waiter!!! By far the best waiter I've had in the longest! Customer service isn't dead! Paced our small dishes accordingly- referred to my champagne as bubbles- yes that's why we love it! - said here's something to hold your purse and brought out a hook to hang my purse!
Great place, great location, very nice servers, and amazing food. We sat outside and had a chefs choice twelve piece dish and the bulgogi which I wasn't expecting them to have on the menu but it was so fantastic. Our servers were YuYu and Federico and they really made our night and visit there so special. They were great. Save room for dessert and try the ice cream / krispy rice "sushi" roll that you can dip in chocolate. Prepare yourself for how good it will taste and expect you're going to still be blown away by it.
We had shrimp fried rice (good, but mild flavor), lobster maki mono roll (really good with a truffle sauce), and the branzino fish- very flavorful! On a Saturday night, place was packed and without a reservation- we were able to find 3 seat at the sushi bar (which you can order the full menu- not just sushi). Service was pretty quick considering how busy it was. The center bar was being remodeled but the rest of the place was beautiful. There is outdoor seating with ocean view. It was a bit hot and muggy inside because all the door were open and it's still pretty warm in Sept in FL..otherwise it was a great culinary experience!
Excellent food, great ambiance, and meh service. We came in here for dinner on a Saturday evening and sat at the bar. My dad asked for a wine recommendation and the bartender was extremely annoyed. We ended up just ordering anything off the menu as not to bother our bartender. All of the food was incredible! Spicy edamame- excellent flavor, just the right amount of spice, with a large portion. Negi Hama - fine, fresh, plain. Amberjack Nigiri- firm and fresh! Aburi Sake- torched Salmon belly, truffle- delightful, melted in your mouth. Chilean Seabass- this was the highlight. Buttery, flakey, perfection. The puree went so nicely with the dish. We also had a strawberry cheesecake for dessert- what a fun dessert with the ice shavings. We'll definitely be back next time we're in South Florida.
My friends brought me here to celebrate my birthday, and we had an amazing time! The service was impeccable, from the team bringing us a free sweet treat in honor of the birthday celebration. The food was delicious and shareable so we each had the opportunity to have a little bit of everything. The ambience was stunning, as we had the view of Las Olas beach and enjoyed the sun setting as we ate dinner. Street parking can be a bit difficult, however they do offer valet for $15. This is a bit more upscale, so i do recommend dressing for the occasion.
We loved that the restaurant is a beach location with an ocean view and coastal breeze. Great reservation and walk in availability, short check-in at the host stand, and quick and attentive service at the table. Our server made great appetizer and entree recommendations - the food was fresh and delicate. We will be back to reserve an omakase experience! Be sure to get your parking ticket validated before you leave for a discounted rate!
Came here for dinner with friends, and we truly enjoyed everything we ordered! The cocktails were delicious, beautifully presented, and definitely photo-worthy. The manager was such a sweetheart, but our waiter was questionable. We couldn't tell if he was sober. For a group of three, we ordered the crispy Brussels sprouts, Wagyu gyoza, kimchi fried rice, and the Wagyu skirt steak. The winners were the kimchi fried rice and skirt steak--both were juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The only dish we probably wouldn't order again was the Wagyu gyoza. It was very meaty but lacked the flavor we were expecting. The restaurant itself is adorable, with both indoor and outdoor seating options and a great atmosphere for a night out with friends. Overall, a wonderful experience, and I'd definitely come back again!
Takato is directly next to the Conrad in Ft. Lauderdale and provides a scrumptious brunch menu. It is not the hotel restaurant per se but you can use your room number to charge your meals. The service is friendly and patient! Our waiter checked in on how we were liking our meal and even turned a hot latte into iced without any problem. The outdoor patio is beautiful as it overlooks the beach right across the street. We went for breakfast which has a small but amazing menu. As a vegan myself I had to order off the "sides" portion of the menu and I ordered an English muffin and a sliced avocado - very affordable ($5 total). I also ordered the fruit platter ($10) which came with an array of yummy fruits including pear, melons, pineapple, oranges, grapes and strawberries. There was more than enough for our table of three! My daughter had the pancakes which came with a warmed jam, syrup, and whipped cream. She said they were very fluffy. My husband had the chaffles which are croissants pressed in a waffle maker. They came with the same sides as the pancakes. And again he said they were so light and fluffy. We rounded off our meal with iced lattes - mine made with oat milk - and they were outstanding. I usually do not like iced drinks but the weather called for it and I was not disappointed! Overall Takato's breakfast is A+ and the view takes it over the edge of greatness! I hope you get a chance to enjoy it as much as we did! We returned to Takato for dinner and what an amazing meal we had. My one warning is to ask about portion size as many dishes are worthy of sharing size. We ordered an array of food. My son loved the kimchi short rib tacos (2 to an order). My daughter had the duck bao and California roll - both received two thumbs up! My husband had the wagyu sliders which he thought were an appetizer but ended up being a good sized meal served with french fries. He said the burger roll was a bit dry and could have used a sauce. The fries received rave reviews. We also had the mushroom gyoza (5 to an order) and these were delicious. I had the Takato salad without cheese and it did not disappoint. It came in a big bowl with crispy tofu. And I also enjoyed the vegetable sushi which provided a light fragrant taste with a crunchy texture. Takato hits the mark on all fronts and will definitely be a place to which we return whenever we come to Ft. Lauderdale!
Excellent experience and quality food! I enjoyed my birthday celebration here and I felt incredibly special despite it being on a busy Mother's Day weekend. They handed out roses, gave me a sparkling dessert and the food was fantastic. This is so far my 10/10 spot. I had the braised short rib with veggie fried rice and it was DELICIOUS! I was afraid the short rib would be chewy because it already came sliced but WOW was I surprised. It just melted off my fork. I definitely will be back again
The spicy tuna roll and oysters were amazing. We followed that with the crab fried rice, intending to save some for our entrée, but it was so good we ended up eating almost all of it before the main courses arrived -- like potato chips, impossible to stop. The bulgogi was fantastic -- a little messy to eat, but absolutely worth it. The lettuce leaves provided were on the small side, making it difficult to load them with both rice and meat, but the flavor more than made up for it. My wife ordered the fish and enjoyed it very much. Keep room for the ice cream rolls, an extra special treat to finish the dinner. Our server was friendly, attentive, and provided good service throughout the meal. If you choose to dine outside, the beach view is beautiful, but be prepared for some wind -- at one point it literally blew my lettuce leaves off the table. One note on parking: valet is $60 if you want your car kept up front, which is the highest valet charge we've experienced. Restaurant validation reduces parking to $17, which is a much better option. Overall, a very enjoyable dining experience with excellent food, beautiful scenery, and service that would bring us back again.
Juan was my server and he totally hooked me up. What a professional!! So nice and accommodating explained the menu fully. You can't beat the location or the scenery from this place! I ordered the spicy edamame as an appetizer. I ordered the Duck Bao Bun, which is absolutely fantastic as well. For dinner I ordered a two-piece Maguro sushi. The fish literally melted in my mouth. I had the Spicy Hotake Maki as well, it was absolutely fantastic. I am bummed I'm only here for tonight, but I can tell you that the food here is absolutely epic and if you've never been here, you absolutely need to come. Ask for Juan to take care of you and you will not be disappointed!! read more
We were staying at the Conrad and just had to come here and try it. Man so glad I did. It's beautifully decorated place and love how the sushi chefs say hello in Korean. That's a first. I will say though if you want a nice cold room go to the back. The open the doors in the middle and it is very humid by the bar and seating there. The food really delivered. The crispy tuna, mandu, chop chae with big short rib, and steak were all so delicious and flavorful. I would come back here in a heartbeat. The sushi ice cream really hit the home run to end our meal. The only knock I will say though was the drinks and the service. He was hit or miss, almost impossible to find. He rarely checked up on us. The cocktail menu was just okay too. read more
It's been 4 years since I was last at TAKATO. Not much has changed, except the prices. The food is great, but for what you get now, hardly worth it. I had the Wagyu Skirt. Same as I had 4years ago. Wow Wow Wow!!! I really enjoy trying sushi spots and this one came highly recommended so I gave it a try. Drove almost 2hrs and I wasn't disappointed! One of the best experiences that I have had to date. The service was on point...the restaurant had a real good vibe and having a view of Ft Lauderdale Beach while you dined couldn't be beat!!! read more
One of the best meals we have had in Ft Lauderdale. We reserved an outside table with a view of the ocean. I thought no one would be there on a Monday night, but it got packed - make reservations! Vinny, our server, was great. We had the: - Duck bao bun - watch out for the red hot peppers - Waygu gyoza - Crispy ahi - Ahi tuna tartar - fresh, tasty, velvety - our favorite - Seaweed salad - Hamachi (tuna, salmon) with rice and seweed - Sushi ice cream - Rice Krispy wrapped vanilla ice cream (like a sushi rolls) with chocolate dipping sauce and berries Located in the area of the Conrad but across the circle from it. read more
We sat outside which was nice, but the tables were a bit awkwardly placed. Overall the service was very good and the food came out it's a good speed and in a nice order since they bring the items out once ready in waves. Highlights: the softshell sushi roll was great as were the wagyu dumplings. Lowlights: the lamb was supposed to come out as medium but it was very, very well done. They serve their entrees to the table over a flame dish so it basically just keeps cooking your meat once it is delivered which is just a recipe for disaster as it will naturally overcook it. I also thought the spicy edamame sounded good but the glaze was a bit thick and messy to eat. ...but the sushi ice cream. 100/10! MUST ORDER. read more
I absolutely love this spot. I took my daughter here for her birthday. We had reservations and were seated immediately. My favorite dish was the Branzino , it was so good, perfectly made, and very fresh. The service was great, and since it was her birthday, they surprised her with a free dessert. The ice cream was amazing , a Rice Krispie treat wrapped in ice cream. When I tell you I literally drooled... it was that good. We sat outside, and the ambience was so nice. The patio faces the Fort Lauderdale beach, which made the experience even better. Definitely a great date-night or special-occasion spot. Highly recommend! read more
We had very different experiences here for dinner vs breakfast. Breakfast was maybe one of the best we've ever had: service was impeccable, the food was so unique and delicious (get the benedict and the croissant waffle) , the latte was excellent. For dinner, the service was just as good but the crab fried rice was dry, lacked flavor, and the rice undercooked. The lamb chops were very good but all three cooked to different doneness and we had to send one back that was very rare. The crispy spicy tuna was very good. We also enjoyed the ice cream sushi as a little treat; chocolate sauce and berries were great quality. read more
We tried a little bit of everything. To drink, we had the Shikoku Margarita and the Golden Bee, and we started with the Duck Bao Buns. For our entrees, I ordered the Spicy Hotate Maki Roll and the Spicy Yellowtail Roll, and my boyfriend had the Chilean Seabass. The Spicy Hotate Maki was unreal! I had never tried scallop sushi before, and it was such a pleasant surprise. We finished with the Ube Cheesecake for dessert, do it! The service was fast, the drinks were great, and the restaurant itself is lovely with gorgeous beach views and a fantastic atmosphere. We went on a Wednesday night with a reservation, which felt necessary since the place was packed. Everything we ordered was fantastic, and our server, Yujeong, was delightful. Came in on a Thursday with no reservation and was seated in the lounge. Eventually moved to the bar as the fan was blowing nonstop in our direction. Our server/bartender, Jordan, was so helpful and personable. There are plenty of options on the menu and he gave good suggestions and was attentive throughout our meal. read more

Excellent is all I can say! Takato never fails it's FANTASTIC! Music is my biggest issue with restaurants in Ft Lauderdale and Miami. The music has no rhyme or reason and is normally too loud in all restaurants. However the food is beyond reproach. We tried a new dish which was sent to us by the GM. The Trout was superb . read more

I had dinner at Takato a couple of nights ago, and it was absolutely amazing. The restaurant is beautiful inside and has a stunning patio with ocean views, which is where we sat. We started off with some drinks, and I ordered a lychee martini that was incredible. I thoroughly enjoyed it. For appetizers, we had a rice dish topped with salmon--I don't remember the exact name, but it was delicious. Next, we tried the shrimp tempura rolls, which are my favorite type of sushi, and they tasted amazing. The sauce on top added the perfect touch of flavor. We finished with grilled fish that was perfectly seasoned, light, and flavorful. Overall, everything from the food to the atmosphere and service made for such a great dining experience. read more

TAKATO really wowed us with the whole experience between location (it was across the street from the Four Seasons we stayed at), the fun vibes & excellent service, the ocean & breeze off the water, and the BEST Korean fusion we've ever had! Bulgogi = amazing. The tacos were the best if I could only order one thing that would be it! Now I'm craving them but I'm back in Michigan! read more

We had an EXCELLENT evening at Takato. All the sushi and bites were superb! The seaweed salad in particular was especially divine; a little bit floral and earthy. The scallop nigiri was also of note. The oysters were pretty good, and I enjoyed the topping on them. I can't recall exactly which nigiri pieces I ordered, but they tasted fresh. The nigiri with the uni (pictured) was a burst of different flavors--I expected to love it, but I didn't. I'm not a fan of the texture of the tuna; it tasted mushy. Uni in general isn't my favorite, but I gave it another try and found it had a strange, very fishy aftertaste. The torched salmon nigiri with caviar and truffle was surprisingly underwhelming, especially since I usually love both caviar and fresh truffle. The spare ribs were slightly overdone, though the sauce was tasty. The fried rice was well-flavored--not the best I've had, but it did the job. Service was good; our server was attentive, which left me satisfied. read more
Takato is hands down my favorite spot on Fort Lauderdale Beach. The food, the view, the vibes -- everything is on point. The restaurant has its own unique style, and it just feels different (in the best way). The menu has something for everyone -- whether you're into sushi, small plates, or something more filling, you'll find something you love. Everything is super fresh and full of flavor. The service is always great, but Helen takes it to the next level. She really goes out of her way to make your experience special. You can tell she loves what she does, and it shows. Amazing service and great for an anniversary dinner or group get together! Definitely make sure you make a reservation as the place was packed. We ordered drinks, appetizers and a bunch of different entrées. All recommended by our server and absolutely delicious. The ambience is lively inside, and they also have outdoor seating overlooking the ocean. I liked the fact that the first drink I ordered off of their cocktail menu wasn't that great to my liking so I asked for something different and they got it for me without hesitation. Also, since it was our anniversary on the reservation, they brought out a free dessert for us, which was a nice touch we were not expecting. Can't wait to go back soon read more
Dined here several times because it was conveniently located at our hotel. Their Short Rib Benedict was to die for. My hubby loved their Churrasco when he had it for dinner. Hardly have photos coz each time we went, we were starving and ate our food right away. Service was great and location was wonderful. read more
Several weeks ago, I went to Fort Lauderdale before my cruise to Cozumel. My friend & I had dinner here the night before our cruise. The ambiance was trendy & vibrant. We ate outside in the warm Floridian night air. I had the chefs sushi special which was gorgeous in presentation & fish was all fresh. I also had the mushroom gyoza which was super savory & tasty. Finally, I had a refreshing citrus cocktail to complement my meal. The food came in record speed which was very cool. read more

Restaurant has a lovely ambiance. We were able to make it for happy hour so we stayed in the bar area. Waiter was nice and the place just felt a little upscale with pulling out your chair, pouring your water etc. The lychee martini was pretty good. The angry chicken was also pretty good- not very spicy. The duck bao bun was great- the best duck I've had in a while. Totally thought the shrimp tempura was going to be a roll whoops my bad, the sauce saved the day for that dish as it was pretty bland without it. Happy hour was definitely a good deal and a good time. Have to come back for actual sushi rolls. read more

Does this restaurant take Covid guidelines seriously by spacing out the tables & not seating people close together?
They certainly do! I was very impressed. Everyone wore masks, they even had available if you forgot yours. Tables were far apart. Lovely experience. Wonderful food!!!
