    Spicy Hotate maki
    Ariana O.

I recently enjoyed a dinner at Takato and had such a delicious meal. We were seated outside and were able to enjoy a nice view of the ocean. The service was very attentive and checked on us often. We also brought our dog and the server ensured he was kept hydrated! While the restaurant is definitely pricey, the flavors were stunning and I had several items that I'd gladly go back and have again. As appetizers, we ordered the crispy breaded shrimp, spicy edamame, and crispy tuna. My favorite of the three was the spicy edamame, which was not spicy at all coming from someone who cannot handle spice well! The chili oil gave it a really nice flavor. I also really enjoyed the spicy tunas rice, but did find that to have a bit of a spice kick. I found myself enjoying the Makis more than the nigiris. I loved the Spicy Hotate Maki and the Negi Toro. Would gladly have those both again and again! I also really enjoyed the salmon tataki. I am a fan of truffle and the flavor was definitely noticeable, while not being overwhelming. We ended with a small plate of mochi ice cream. I found the flavors to all taste about the same, even though they were meant to be distinct. I probably would not order these again, as they were not anything remarkable. Overall, this is a very nice spot for special dinner occasions and I look forward to returning.

Came here for dinner with friends, and we truly enjoyed everything we ordered! The cocktails were delicious, beautifully presented, and definitely photo-worthy. The manager was such a sweetheart, but our waiter was questionable. We couldn't tell if he was sober. For a group of three, we ordered the crispy Brussels sprouts, Wagyu gyoza, kimchi fried rice, and the Wagyu skirt steak. The winners were the kimchi fried rice and skirt steak--both were juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The only dish we probably wouldn't order again was the Wagyu gyoza. It was very meaty but lacked the flavor we were expecting. The restaurant itself is adorable, with both indoor and outdoor seating options and a great atmosphere for a night out with friends. Overall, a wonderful experience, and I'd definitely come back again!

We had very different experiences here for dinner vs breakfast. Breakfast was maybe one of the best we've ever had: service was impeccable, the food was so unique and delicious (get the benedict and the croissant waffle) , the latte was excellent. For dinner, the service was just as good but the crab fried rice was dry, lacked flavor, and the rice undercooked. The lamb chops were very good but all three cooked to different doneness and we had to send one back that was very rare. The crispy spicy tuna was very good. We also enjoyed the ice cream sushi as a little treat; chocolate sauce and berries were great quality.

Excellent experience and quality food! I enjoyed my birthday celebration here and I felt incredibly special despite it being on a busy Mother's Day weekend. They handed out roses, gave me a sparkling dessert and the food was fantastic. This is so far my 10/10 spot. I had the braised short rib with veggie fried rice and it was DELICIOUS! I was afraid the short rib would be chewy because it already came sliced but WOW was I surprised. It just melted off my fork. I definitely will be back again

The spicy tuna roll and oysters were amazing. We followed that with the crab fried rice, intending to save some for our entrée, but it was so good we ended up eating almost all of it before the main courses arrived -- like potato chips, impossible to stop. The bulgogi was fantastic -- a little messy to eat, but absolutely worth it. The lettuce leaves provided were on the small side, making it difficult to load them with both rice and meat, but the flavor more than made up for it. My wife ordered the fish and enjoyed it very much. Keep room for the ice cream rolls, an extra special treat to finish the dinner. Our server was friendly, attentive, and provided good service throughout the meal. If you choose to dine outside, the beach view is beautiful, but be prepared for some wind -- at one point it literally blew my lettuce leaves off the table. One note on parking: valet is $60 if you want your car kept up front, which is the highest valet charge we've experienced. Restaurant validation reduces parking to $17, which is a much better option. Overall, a very enjoyable dining experience with excellent food, beautiful scenery, and service that would bring us back again.

Excellent is all I can say! Takato never fails it's FANTASTIC! Music is my biggest issue with restaurants in Ft Lauderdale and Miami. The music has no rhyme or reason and is normally too loud in all restaurants. However the food is beyond reproach. We tried a new dish which was sent to us by the GM. The Trout was superb .

One of the best meals we have had in Ft Lauderdale. We reserved an outside table with a view of the ocean. I thought no one would be there on a Monday night, but it got packed - make reservations! Vinny, our server, was great. We had the: - Duck bao bun - watch out for the red hot peppers - Waygu gyoza - Crispy ahi - Ahi tuna tartar - fresh, tasty, velvety - our favorite - Seaweed salad - Hamachi (tuna, salmon) with rice and seweed - Sushi ice cream - Rice Krispy wrapped vanilla ice cream (like a sushi rolls) with chocolate dipping sauce and berries Located in the area of the Conrad but across the circle from it.

Came in on a Thursday with no reservation and was seated in the lounge. Eventually moved to the bar as the fan was blowing nonstop in our direction. Our server/bartender, Jordan, was so helpful and personable. There are plenty of options on the menu and he gave good suggestions and was attentive throughout our meal.

We sat outside which was nice, but the tables were a bit awkwardly placed. Overall the service was very good and the food came out it's a good speed and in a nice order since they bring the items out once ready in waves. Highlights: the softshell sushi roll was great as were the wagyu dumplings. Lowlights: the lamb was supposed to come out as medium but it was very, very well done. They serve their entrees to the table over a flame dish so it basically just keeps cooking your meat once it is delivered which is just a recipe for disaster as it will naturally overcook it. I also thought the spicy edamame sounded good but the glaze was a bit thick and messy to eat. ...but the sushi ice cream. 100/10! MUST ORDER.

I absolutely love this spot. I took my daughter here for her birthday. We had reservations and were seated immediately. My favorite dish was the Branzino , it was so good, perfectly made, and very fresh. The service was great, and since it was her birthday, they surprised her with a free dessert. The ice cream was amazing , a Rice Krispie treat wrapped in ice cream. When I tell you I literally drooled... it was that good. We sat outside, and the ambience was so nice. The patio faces the Fort Lauderdale beach, which made the experience even better. Definitely a great date-night or special-occasion spot. Highly recommend!

We tried a little bit of everything. To drink, we had the Shikoku Margarita and the Golden Bee, and we started with the Duck Bao Buns. For our entrees, I ordered the Spicy Hotate Maki Roll and the Spicy Yellowtail Roll, and my boyfriend had the Chilean Seabass. The Spicy Hotate Maki was unreal! I had never tried scallop sushi before, and it was such a pleasant surprise. We finished with the Ube Cheesecake for dessert, do it! The service was fast, the drinks were great, and the restaurant itself is lovely with gorgeous beach views and a fantastic atmosphere. We went on a Wednesday night with a reservation, which felt necessary since the place was packed. Everything we ordered was fantastic, and our server, Yujeong, was delightful. We will definitely be back!

But when my partner asked me what I really felt like I said Casa Playa or Chimney house. So we raced to get there at 9:30ish starving. Good thing we asked the kind manager first if they would still serve us food since they closed at 10.. He was kind enough to tell us they would serve us no problem. Glad we asked as the male server who who wasn't even serving us) was quick to walk by when he saw us, not to greet us but to tell us the kitchen was closed. Then seemed annoyed when the manager confirmed we were ok. Thanks buddy. Thankfully we were being served by the kind male bartender with the female server being sweet enough to bring us menus We made sure to have our order in as soon as asked. The male bartender was great. Friendly and made us feel welcome. I have been to this restaurant many times because I love Chimney house and these are the same owners. So I was truly grateful that the bartender, female server and manager were so kind. The owners do a great job as hiring such great team members. Because of the managers hospitality we asked about future events and have already planned to stay at an air bnb across the street for the upcoming soccer games. Small acts of kindness go a long way for keeping locals happy with your business. The food is always consistently amazing. The ambience is just right with the perfect lighting, set up and views. Parking was easy, with a metered lot conveniently located across the street. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted and requested outdoor seating so we could enjoy the waterfront views and watch the boats pass by. The atmosphere was relaxing, scenic, and definitely one of the highlights of the experience. Our server was friendly, attentive, and had a great personality. Table snacks was a small bowl of popcorn. To start, we ordered a Pearl Bourbon Smash and a Dragon Margarita. The Bourbon Smash was so good that we ordered a second one. The Margarita wasn't my favorite, but I finished it and followed it up with a Sensei Old Fashioned. For our entrees, we ordered the Korean BBQ Bulgogi and the Korean Steak Chimicurri (spelled that way on the menu, so I'm not sure if it was intentional). The Bulgogi portion was generous, and we really wanted to love it, but unfortunately the meat arrived cold. That was disappointing, especially after being told that everything is made from scratch. My husband's entree was served about 10 minutes before mine, which wasn't ideal. Generally, guests dining together should be served at the same time. I encouraged him to start eating so his meal wouldn't get cold, but unfortunately it already was. My steak arrived hot and was cooked slightly more than the medium temperature I requested, leaning closer to medium-well. Despite that, I still enjoyed it. It was served with jasmine rice and maduros, which complemented the dish nicely. Overall, we had a lovely dining experience. The waterfront setting, pleasant service, and enjoyable cocktails made for a great outing. We would definitely consider returning, especially to combine dinner with one of the boat tours.
