Casa Sensei had been on our Fort Lauderdale to-do list, and it was such a beautiful day to finally check it out. Parking was easy, with a metered lot conveniently located across the street. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted and requested outdoor seating so we could enjoy the waterfront views and watch the boats pass by. The atmosphere was relaxing, scenic, and definitely one of the highlights of the experience. Our server was friendly, attentive, and had a great personality. Table snacks was a small bowl of popcorn. To start, we ordered a Pearl Bourbon Smash and a Dragon Margarita. The Bourbon Smash was so good that we ordered a second one. The Margarita wasn't my favorite, but I finished it and followed it up with a Sensei Old Fashioned. For our entrees, we ordered the Korean BBQ Bulgogi and the Korean Steak Chimicurri (spelled that way on the menu, so I'm not sure if it was intentional). The Bulgogi portion was generous, and we really wanted to love it, but unfortunately the meat arrived cold. That was disappointing, especially after being told that everything is made from scratch. My husband's entree was served about 10 minutes before mine, which wasn't ideal. Generally, guests dining together should be served at the same time. I encouraged him to start eating so his meal wouldn't get cold, but unfortunately it already was. My steak arrived hot and was cooked slightly more than the medium temperature I requested, leaning closer to medium-well. Despite that, I still enjoyed it. It was served with jasmine rice and maduros, which complemented the dish nicely. Overall, we had a lovely dining experience. The waterfront setting, pleasant service, and enjoyable cocktails made for a great outing. We would definitely consider returning, especially to combine dinner with one of the boat tours. We were told only bar seating was available and that tables were reserved, but several stayed empty throughout the night, which made the experience start off a little off-putting. Okay, yes! I randomly found this place while traveling from Miami and was pleasantly surprised. The ambiance is nice, being on the water makes you truly get that Florida feel. We sat inside at it was dark. Made it hard to read the menu. The food was great! Im not a kimchi fan, but the popcorn with kimchi was surprisingly tasty. Im almost ashamed to say that I've never had crab Rangoon with real crabmeat. We ordered them twice because of how tasty they were. We also ordered three rolls but I can't remember the name of them. Mine had asparagus and shrimp and I would easily order it again. We celebrated an anniversary and they brought a cupcake with a sparkler, along with their cotton candy (loved the concept). We were then sat at a standard table the farthest back in the restaurant. We watched as the table next to us got asked if they would like anything to drink immediately while we were sat before them and had to eventually flag down the waiter. The entire time we ate, half the outside seating area was empty and the server continuously ignored our table. We also oddly did not receive popcorn or cotton candy, which is usually provided at the table as part of the dining service before and after the meal. Not a big deal, but definitely noticeable for repeat guests. They sat us on a table then said we had to switch tables since the high chair would be a fire hazard. It took them an hour to find another table- all while i had to hold my toddler. When the table was set, i had to ask for us to switch- I'm not sure if they assumed we would take the plates of food and move on our own? They forgot to give us the complimentary popcorn which was fine but when i mentioned it the server tried blaming someone else for not getting it. I asked for a to go order of cashew chicken for when we leave- they got it out before the food we ordered. We also asked for eel sauce and spicy mayo multiple times for them to finally get it for us. When doing the booking i had indicated it was for a birthday- i called the make sure they were aware it was for a birthday. They didn't remember the birthday and it was at that point where i didn't think it was even worth mentioning. We had great weather at the time we stopped in and enjoyed watching the gondolas pull right up to where we were sitting. I'd wanted to come to this restaurant for a few years now and finally made it for their Dine Out Lauderdale Lunch Special. There is a parking garage right behind the restaurant however the parking was about $10/hour which was a bit shocking. If you park in the garage, you will end up walking into the restaurant from the patio/outdoor/back of the restaurant so keep that in mind. There is also street parking available. The restaurant had both indoor and outdoor seating and was pretty empty for a Friday afternoon. The staff was very welcoming and when we made our way to the host, we checked in for our reservation and were led to the table. The bar area was very nice and although the restaurant is a bit small, I think it would make a nice dinner for a group outing. The music in the restaurant was not very loud, however we did visit at a time where there were not many people at the restaurant. Our server then brought us some kimchi butter popcorn (I forgot to take a picture) and asked us if we wanted sparkling, still or tap water. We ordered our drinks which were both very good. The Thaitini was not as sweet as I expected which I was very happy about; you really taste the passionfruit puree, and the Blueberry Margarita was the perfect balance between sweet and spicy. We both opted for the $35 Dine Out Lauderdale Lunch special which came with a Miso Soup or Salad (we both went with the soup which was good, but if you are not a fan of seaweed, you won't like this), an appetizer, main dish & dessert. For the appetizers I chose the Blue Crab Rangoons which had lots of crab meat (I appreciated that because usually there is only cream cheese and onions), and my friend had the Ahi Poke which was a big serving and very flavorful! We also ordered the Pork Belly Bao Buns from the regular menu which were good and came with some kimchi marinated apple slices. For the mains, I chose the Beef Pad Thai which was soo good, very saucy and the beef was tender. My friend went with the Kung Fu Lo Mein which came with chicken, the flavor was very good but the chicken was a bit dry. For dessert we had one of each of the options. Both the Lemon Dream Cake and the Almond Crunch Cake were DELICIOUS. They were both very rich and decadent but the Almond Cake was a bit heavier as it had a lot of whipped and tasted a bit boozy. The bill with tax and tip for the both of us was just under $150 and I think it's a great deal. We did order 2 drinks and an appetizer, but this restaurant did not skimp out on the portions.
