The TGIF roll was my absolute favorite - it was so well-cooked and flavorful in every bite. The Cali-Co was my second favorite, then followed by the Hi-Hello. We ordered the Salmon Tataki, Gillebu, dumplings, scallops, chicken fried rice, and Kanisu. The food was good overall, but the portions were super light. We understood it was tapas-style, but it just wasn't enough considering the price. The Salmon Tataki was good, and the dumplings were fire. The chicken fried rice was okay. The scallops were juicy and well-cooked. The hardest part was the wait. It took at least 45 minutes to get our food. The food was absolutely incredible! All of it was so fresh and so delicious. We especially loved the Japchae and hamachi crudo, but all of it was still amazing. The beef short rib melted in your mouth, while the kimchi dressing was a perfect amount of heat for the crudo. No flavors ever competed against each other, but sung in harmony. The restaurant is located in a funky "hip" area and the artsy decor and high priced menu are reflective of the surroundings as well as the high price of fish these days. We were able to snag a parking spot on the street right outside as it was still early. They have their all day menu. And now, there is also a lunch menu which is accessible via QR code. If you can visit for lunch, and take advantage of these offerings, it will be a bit less expensive. We started by sharing an avocado and cucumber salad which we loved. This was small chopped pieces of cucumber mixed with similar sized pieces of ripe avocado mixed in with crunchy green seaweed -- all in a sesame vinaigrette. So refreshing. We then each had a makimono -- a sushi roll. I got their JB tempura roll. It had salmon, cream cheese, and avocado and was tempura fried. And topped with eel sauce. My husband got their triple roll. It was done inside out with salmon, tuna, and white fish. There was also avocado and masago. He said it was very good -- as was my choice. We had friendly and personable service. A true elevated sushi and Japanese experience.. everyone has toro and edamame but not like this. We started with the Miso Edamame which was absolutely terrific. Shishito peppers were a special fried in tempura with a ponzu style sauce on the side. The truffle and toro roll was by far the star of the show. Two flavor combinations I never would've imagined would work so well. I can keep going but I'll let you try it for yourself... everything was fantastic. What a cute little restaurant in popular Flagler Village in Fort Lauderdale. It's very quaint. There is a garage door that opens up and it was perfect for the chilly night dinner. It's a little more on the expensive side for the portions. But it's definitely a sushi treat. After review of the menu and yelp reviews, I wanted to try everything for ourselves. I got the OG Passakos roll, Cali-co roll, Jay $$ roll, Dragon roll, and the Hi-hello roll (listed in order with most favorite first!). Allll were exquisite. There's waygu on top of the OG roll. Cali-co had a pleasantly surprising explosion of wasabi inside. The Jay $$ rolls was shaped in a square! Can't go wrong with a good Dragon roll with eel on top. My lease favorite was the Hi-hello, but only because the other rolls were great, and someone had to be last unfortunately. Miso Edemame was okay. Would've rather regular/no sauce edemame next time. The Gochugang Fried Chicken were really flavorful - wish the wings were a tad bit bigger. The Short Rib Dumplings were great, different, but so yummy. Once inside, you will notice a clean and modern decor. The menu is one page. It offers sushi, appetizers, meat, and vegetables, all in tapas form, meaning that all plates are small samples. Two to four may satisfy one individual. The service is above average. Our server was attentive and extremely professional. He gave us a tour of the menu when I said that I was unsure of what I wanted to order. The food is something that cannot be described. Everything was great, but the miso sea bass was something spectacular. Sea bass is always good but this will blow your mind. It was the best piece of fish I have ever eaten in my life. I always try to give a restaurant 3 trys..... First try was a wednesday evening. My wife and I stopped by just to see how it was. Quick app and sake to try a new place. Nice atmosphere. I got the octopus salad and my wife the bao buns. Both were horrible, my wife said her bao buns were very greezy and the pork very thin. My octopus salad was the same. Honesty it should have been called octopus carpaccio with how thinly the octopus was sliced. It also had a very off putting fishy flavor and smell. But every restaurant has its hiccups that's why I try to give three tries. Our second try was on a Saturday evening. We figured weekend better staff maybe the food would have been better. We never found out. When we arrived, the restaurant was maybe three fourths full. No line at the door. We waited at the front/host stand for over 5 minutes without anyone ever coming up to seat or acknowledge us. We finally approached an employee and asked if we could sit at the sushi bar. We were told we could, so we did. We were seated for 10 minutes, made eye contact with multiple servers and sushi chefs behind the bar. The single gentleman to our left, had a server and the couple to our right who were cashing out had a different server, neither of which made any contact with us. We were never offered a food menu, water, or anything! No one spoke to us, no hey, I'll be with you in a minute, nothing! I'm extremely disappointed, this restaurant was recommended to us because we are sake and sushi lovers. We were excited to try a new spot. After the extremely disappointing food on our first try and the abysmal service that we never received on our second. We will never be back. Also, they charge you a dollar per person for tap water. So fresh and lots of great flavor combos. A good amount of rolls to offer and they have other options like noodles and bao buns. A little on the pricey side but rolls range from $12 - $27. Our favorite was the og passakos with the wagyu, such a perfect combo, and the hi-hello was also a great choice. We started with the ceviche and the portion was enough for maybe two to enjoy but it was refreshing and a nice twist to a classic ceviche. We also accidentally ordered the beef tartare and it was the best accident because wow was that packed with great flavor! Was a little disappointed in their drink & dessert options, not many great choices. Service was great and efficient, we came around 6 PM on a Friday. They also do not offer happy hour. Overall the food is amazing but pricey, no great drink/dessert options, no happy hour and for 3 of us with only one drinking it came out to $170 before tip not including the parking. How did I miss this cute little place serving some great Asian food and really fresh sushi ? Well it may be because it is a bit off the beaten path tucked behind the railroad tracks in the Progresso area of Fort Lauderdale, but now that I know that it is here, you can bet I'll be back. They were very accommodating with separate checks although the best way to enjoy this restaurant is just to order a range of things and for everyone to share them as the food comes up hit or miss tapas style. Our server, Sami, was great! Quick with recommendations of her favorites and helping us with our wine choices. Know before you go that they have beer, wine and saki but no hard liquor. I started with the squash blossom that was stuffed with crab and it was delicious! Lightly battered and fried it was done perfectly. For my entree I had the "hi-hello" roll which was tasty with fried shrimp topped with tuna. Other "wins" from the ohs and ahs at the table were the crispy rice with tuna, the tuna tartar, and the pork belly. They've recently started lunch service as well so there is no reason not to visit Miso. Be sure to make a reservation for dinner as the space isn't huge and by the time we left there were people waiting to get in.
