The perfect vibe for a classic coffee shop! Walked in and the staff welcomed me with such a big smile on their face. She explained several items on the menu which was very helpful. You could tell many locals/regulars stop by as she recognized many customers. Coffee was good, and a fair price. Only downfall was the tables were fairly close together, as it is a smaller space. I decided to stop here for a drink after avoiding this place for several years. It was not busy on a Saturday afternoon. The heat was probably keeping people away during the hottest time of the day. I had a matcha latte. It was ok. Not too sweet and pretty foamy. The place was quite cozy with books lining the shelves and the bench covered with throws which made it looked inviting. But I'm a bit leery of sitting on that as sometimes I wonder how often those throws are washed. I rather sit in regular chairs where it can be wiped down easily to clean if needed. The food looked good but we didn't try any as we already ate. Maybe next time if I'm in the area. read more

The coffee was really good. The breakfast sandwich was soggy and pretty tasteless. I couldn't stay long because the music was too loud and alarms were going off every 5 minutes. Not fire alarms - it appeared that the server had alarms set for finishing tasks. This added to the constant noise. Won't be back. read more

Got a bagel with cream cheese and ice coffee. Barely any cream cheese on the bagel and the lady working there looked like she was trying to get us out of there as soon as possible. Visited at 9am on a Saturday morning, no other customers around. I would be more understanding if it was busy and she was rushing but nope, she just could care less. I enjoy the prompt and helpful service, comfortable seating and ambiance, good coffee and the varied food options.

Was early for an appointment so dropped in here for a coffee and a breakfast wrap. Counter staff seemed distracted despite there being 5 patrons there including myself. They got me a black coffee, placed it on the counter and never told me it was mine. The breakfast wrap was supposed to take 3 minutes to heat but the staff went into the back of the shop and served other customers; I had to ask them to take it out of the microwave as it was sitting for 10 minutes. Neither of the staff said anything and just plunked it on the counter. The dining space was awkward with a couple of large, rustic banquet tables and several 2 tops. I sat at one with uneven legs and spilled 20% of my coffee. There were no napkins available. I asked for something to mop up the coffee and was told by the staff they would be right over with a towel- the staff never came over. I ate quickly and the wrap was pretty 'meh'. Coffee was ok. No wifi as far as I could tell expect for Telus user wifi. Won't be coming back. read more

During my morning venture into work I'd drove 30 minutes to get to new west and thought, "I'll just stop in for a quick coffee" This is at 7:30 am opening roughly on Wednesday March 30th 2022. I enter the premises and immediately I walk up and order a London Fog.. Our first interaction he was very standoff ish and made me feel unwelcome, so I order the drink and pay for it in full. After this I read on the wall that you can get it changed from Milk to something Lactose free. Once I mention that I needed to change it to Lactose free the man looks at me like I had done something wrong and tell me, "It's an extra charge for lactose free next time so mention it before you pay" Like that was my job? I believe he should be asking all customers about a LACTOSE FREE DRINK as a large number of people in this world are lactose intolerant... His reply to me telling him it was "medical" Was that I should email his company and that he, "Doesn't make the prices" 1/5 starts If I'm being honest 0/5 stars Go to Greens and Beans across the street as they will respect you and make you feel welcome never have I felt so unwelcomed as per at the Take 5 Cafe in Sapperton. My wife and I stopped by Take Five Cafe the morning of July 4th to grab a coffee and water before heading to our OB appointment (my wife is 33 weeks pregnant). As we were ordering, the barista (Brittney) looked at my wife, immediately had a look in her face and then flat out asked my wife "1 or 2 babies in there"? There was no hello, no greeting, no conversation what so ever - she just immediately asks my wife if she is having 1 or 2. First off, its' none of your business how many babies we are having. Secondly, it's extremely rude to ask someone you don't know about their pregnancy, to ask questions like that and or insinuate anything about the size or weight of someone. My wife replied "1 and that was quite rude." Brittney did not reply to her response and ignored us. She then turned to another person standing at the barista counter and said "Wow, I thought for sure two." The only reason someone would ask if there is 1-2 in there is because they are insinuating that you look bigger than the average pregnant person. I'm glad we had the conversation that we did as we left. You need to learn respect, manners and the art of knowing what to say and what not say. Let me be real clear with you. My wife is an amazing person inside and out. She is an amazing human being who has had a phenomenal pregnancy. There was no need for your comments nor your question (think before you talk). You have lost a customer for life and my hope is that you others who read this message will think twice about where they buy their coffee and who they are supporting when they decide to make a purchase. read more

This is a great location as a coffee alternative if you're used to going to Tim Hortons or Starbucks. They have friendly service, good coffee, and pretty good Wi-Fi if you're not running High Caliber websites or videos. I've been there a few times with friends and had a nice social meeting. It's also been a good location for pulling out the laptop and doing a little bit of work without much distraction and a pretty good environment. read more

Came here a few days ago while in the area for a business meeting and to set up a mobile office to do some work while working on my zine cover for this month's issue. Even though it was mid afternoon I was surprised at how quiet it was and that I actually managed to get a table. I was respectful of the space and didn't cyber squat. I made sure to stay a respectable time to both the shop and other patrons considering that all I had was a coffee and pastry. Super friendly staff and Market bake prices. read more

This is one of my favorite cafes! The drinks tastes great and are reasonably priced (the Zebra Mocha is a must try, for me). Their staff are very friendly. The place itself is quiet and it has that homey feel. Also, their location is perfect. The view (overlooking the city) is especially nice on sunny days. Love this place. Went here with a friend one day on her break. She got an addiction bar and a dark coffee and I ordered an iced coffee. Her addiction bar was large and quite filling she told me, and it looked really good - chocolate and coconut and nuts, yum. She likes her coffee dark, but not burnt, and she said this one was just right. My iced coffee was perfect in taste, not too weak and not too strong. I like that they have options for both soy and almond milk and I had almond milk poured in. I also enjoyed that they keep sugar free syrup on the counter for self serve as well, I have a few diabetic friends and having the option to add syrup to their personal taste is great. The people who work here are always very friendly and quick. They have room outside for me to sit with my dog in the shade. They have very large numerous windows which I find great because I can keep an eye on my dog even when I'm inside. Would highly recommend! read more
