First, I love the location, the service and the space...high ceilings, clean, open and large windows all around to let in the natural light. But came for the Hot Chocolate Festival and it was a huge fail. I sampled both flavours on this trip: S'Morelicious and the Chocolate Caliente. The presentation of both were great but both were too sweet...the sugar was overpowering on both. The churro accompaniment with the Chocolate Caliente was soggy and obviously microwaved at an attempt to serve it warm. I only got one thing here--the breakfast croissant so my rating is based off of that. It was so delicious. The croissant was crispy, the egg was PERFECTLY seasoned and tender for my soft mouth, and it's loaded with filling. Multiple ham slices and lots of eggs. Service was quick. This caffe offers hot chocolate featured Ruby chocolate bomb which contains small marshmallows inside and would melt away in the steamed milk. Omid was really knowledgeable about the products and gave us a good experience. He was very polite and knew how to talk to customers to make them feel welcomed. I bought a pack of coffee after nicely being offered to try a sample. Omid is great with customer engagement and experienced in customer service. I also bought a couple slices of Moroccan chickpea pie which was delicious paired with their signature pesto sauce; It was nicely heated. I decided to buy a whole pie to take home afterward. Best pie I've had, and nicely paired with pesto, which Omid kindly prepared to take home as well. Will definitely visit again in the future. Ambiance was good vibes. read more

Came here for some tea and a good chat with friends. This location, being newer, is definitely one of the nicer ones in town. Not to mention one of the most spacious. Parking is available on the side streets. As mentioned, the place is spacious. Almost too spacious. They can easily put more tables into here without making it feel cramped. It's also nice and quiet, so the place is ideal for a chat. Staff are friendly, and take some extra care when making your beverage. Special mention. The tea sets they use here are very quaint. Maybe I'm just easily amused, but I felt like I was using a prop from a movie set. The tea was quite good as well. Just the right strength. My only gripe is that the place closes early on weekends. But I don't blame them - this location doesn't have the best foot traffic. read more

I'm a regular here because of the decent americano and ample seating, usually dropping by to get a coffee on my way to work or suggesting to colleagues that we meet here. Today I was walking by with an uncomfortably full bladder, and decided to discreetly avail myself of the facilities. As I loyal customer, I figured they make a few bucks off me several times a week, and I bring in business by having work meetings there. I figured they'd have the common decency to let me use the bathroom without issue. Instead what happened was that some overzealous barista decided to *yell down the street at me* announcing to the world that i had just emptied my bladder at his establishment. This was both bizarre and humiliating, and frankly just bad manners. This young man should either follow his heart and become a police officer, or learn to not sweat the small things. He seemed to genuinely police a breach of justice had occurred. Needless to say I won't be returning, or having meetings here again. There are plenty of coffee shops on Main Street that have a better americano, and a sense of human decency to boot. Disgraceful. read more

Would love if someone from the Cafe could respond. At Car Free Main street today, one of the employees was handing out samples of a vanilla/chocolate/strawberry pastry. I am vegan with a dairy allergy, and asked if the sample was vegan. The employee said it was, and I confirmed with her that it had no milk or eggs. She said it was vegan. I ate the sample and 10 minutes later, my throat started to tingle like it does when I have dairy. I took an antihistamine and water, and after 30 mins I was fine (the sample was pretty small). I tried to look up the menu online but didn't find anything official. Anyone know if their baked goods are safe for vegans? I have a feeling they're not, and it's disappointing that the employees don't seem to know exactly what they are serving. read more

Absolutely disgusting. Not very hygienic at all. I will be contacting BC Coastal Health once I've heard from the owner. I'd like him to try to resolve the situation, first. He doesn't seem like a reasonable man, though. His staff are poorly trained and extremely ignorant toward the gravity of the situation. I tried calling to report a few things and a very rude lady over there got all defensive when I was just trying to help. She hung up on me when I asked to speak to her boss. I then had to track down the owner myself and still haven't heard back from him. Probably because he doesn't care about his customers. The ham and cheese croissant sandwiches are about $9 for the thinnest slice of ham the machine would allow, and the thinnest slice of cheese on a tiny croissant. These sandwiches are so sad looking that they probably get bullied by other sandwiches. How they get away with disrespecting our intelligence is beyond me. If you are an intelligent person, it is in your best interest to stay away from Caffe Artigiano. Such an unfortunate waste of a business. The owner should be ashamed of himself and stop cutting corners before someone gets sick or ripped off. Terrible hygiene and terrible value. Terrible food and the worst coffee. Go to a real coffee shop. None of this phoney garbage. *UPDATE*: Ever since posting this review, I have been harassed by the owner of this establishment, Willie Mounzer. Unacceptable. This place is huge! Lots of people camped out with their laptops though. Normally this wouldn't be an issue, except theres always a bunch of idiots sitting by themselves at tables big enough for 4 or 6 people. So when a group of 3 or 4 come in there's only tables for two available. Seriously? Anyways, Artigiano's coffee is always pretty good. They seem to have a decent selection of food to choose from as well. It would be nice if they had skim milk though. As for the customer service, the staff are always really nice. read more

I remembered this coffee as being my favourite in Vancouver and while it is still very good, I'm not sure if it's still my favourite. On this particular visit I also had a croissant which I was a little disappointed in - the sign outside said it was the best in Vancouver and I would say no, it was not! It didn't taste totally fresh and just not a great flavour. Interior is nice and spacious which is great. Real mugs and plates which is nice. Wifi is available but if I remember correctly you can only use for 30 or 60 minutes which is a little annoying (especially since I specifically came here for wifi since I didn't yet have it at home in my new place). read more

Came here on New Years Day! It's quite a large coffee shop and I am a huge fan of their ginormous tables. We had a party of 18 and we were all able to fit onto one of their huge tables. They have 2-3 of these tables so always good to go in large large groups! The coffee itself wasn't anything special. I'm not a huge coffee drinker (usually Timmies or Mcd's) so I'm a bit biased when I say it wasn't the best I've had, nor was it the worst. I'd definately come back to just hang out with friends though! read more

I dunno, unless a Starbucks was egregiously bad, it would just be a Starbucks. But this Artigiano location is awesome purely in terms of where it's situated. I am nearby a lot and always thought it would be nice to have a coffee shop between 27th and wherever the next one is, 14th maybe. When I'm not in the downtown corridor and I really need a place to just go do my studying, this is one of my favorite haunts. As with every other locations of Artigiano, the coffee are superb for a chain/franchise. Normally, I'm there with my wife and she usually order the caramel macchiato and I order a Spanish latte. Both are spectacular, but both combined...... it's heaven in a coffee mug. The service is friendly and quick, so no complaints. As for the location, there's usually ample parking, albeit only an hour. But if you drive in a block, there are quite a few free non-residential spots to park. The decor of the place seems a bit lacking compared to the typical cozy coffee joint, but it does give off the appearance of cleanliness, which is perhaps the most important characteristics of any establishment. My only gripes would be the hours, the windows and the WiFi. While I don't expect it to be open to service the night owls, scaling back the hours from 9:30pm to only 6:30pm is a bit of a drag. Not really a good studying place for those working business hours. The second complaints are the blinds on the windows.... or shall I say, lack thereof. The cafe primarily faces to the west, so when it's around 4-5pm (depending on the season), the sun will start piercing the place. Some of those black sheer blinds would be good at reducing the harsh glares, plus it would add a bit to the coziness factor. The last gripe is the WiFi. I don't know if it is just somebody totally sucking up all the bandwidth or something, but it is pretty slow. Yeah Yeah, I shouldn't complain about some free, but it's now to the point where I'm using my wind mobile data as it's actually faster and more reliable, lol. All in all, it's a great place to drop in, whether to chat and relax or to hit the books. 4/5 for me. read more

I actually really like this place despite being a huge Starbucks whore. It is quite lovely, large and clean inside. It's way bigger than your average Starbucks, which is nice because there's tons of seating. Well I'm assuming, though today being a stat holiday...it was packed. The London Fog Latte I ordered was great. I payed close to five bucks for a grande, which I think is standard. It tasted great! That's about it in a nutshell. My friend and I arrived to a crowded Artigiano, sat down and both got a glass of water, my friend began reading a newspaper and just as I was about to go up and buy us each a coffee one of the staff came up to the table and rudely told us to buy something or leave. Well, I wasn't about to tell him that we were about to do just that because he was very rude about it and I said, what will you do if we don't? To which I was informed that the police would be called. I said, ok, call them and he did. I asked him his name and he said Tony.
