This place is my parent's favorite go to Japanese restaurant right in their neighborhood. I've been coming here since moving back to Calgary and they never disappoint. My father is a massive fan of their spider roll (delicious!) and generous portions of sashimi that are so fresh, you can cut through it like butter with your chopsticks! My mom loves their tonkotsu ramen which never disappoints. Staff know their regulars well and treat my folks like they're Norm from Cheers. Service is fast and efficient - I've seen these people on insanely busy nights juggle table service, pick up orders and delivery like a well oiled machine! Ambiance is inviting - feels like a piece of Japanese that is welcoming without feeling pretentious. Everyone is welcome here. As a former Door Dash driver, I can understand why people who used to live in this neighborhood continue to order from Takumi - there's no place like home. read more

After a movie at Crowfoot we came here and the fish was so fresh and delicious. The sushi was beautifully formed and presented. We particularly enjoyed the Toro, Spider (soft shell crab) and Mango Roll. The service was efficient and friendly to the child we had with us. read more

Came here on Friday night for dinner. It was busy. We got the last table. During our time there, there was a line for tables and line for takeout. Good sign. We sat on some bench seating in the middle of the restaurant. Quite a lot of things on the menu but it was a little confusing to navigate. There was a menu with numbers and a white board they give you to check off what you want. The numbers on menu and white board did not match. We ordered 2 tonkostsu ramens, dinner set for 2, ika karaage, salmon sashimi, 2 salmon avocado rolls, green dragon roll, and dynamite roll. All the good was great. The dinner set for 2 came with beef don which we normally don't order but it was tasty. The rolls were a good size. The tuna sashimi was a little frozen but not too bad. Salmon sashimi tasted fresh. Ramen noodles were the right consistency and texture and broth was just right. Staff were really friendly. The only disappointing things was the ramen took a really long time and after we were done it took some time to flag someone to get to go boxes and the bill. We will definitely be back. May try takeout next time. read more

My friend picked up sushi for us from Takumi. I read somewhere that Takumi is owned by the same people as Nami. I don't know if that's true or not, but the two restaurants serve the same tasting and looking sushi. Sushi is tasty, flavourful and affordable. I'd recommend especially if you have kids or a potluck style party. read more

Takumi is a nice restaurant that is comfortable and has a good vibe. The pricing is very reasonable. However, the sushi quality is marginal. First off, having ordered four different rolls, they all tasted about the same. Not much flavor and the fish did not taste or look really fresh. The sockeye sashimi was dry and chewy. Overall the restaurant had a nice atmosphere and if low price is key, then it fits that choice. read more

Second visit for take-out. Don't usually have time to stop and dine in. First visit was extra awesome, they understood gluten free (celiac) and helped me select items that were good, but warned that they could not guarantee anything was safe and not cross-contaminated. While I waited they offered me tea and water. I was grateful because I had been driving into Calgary for hours, and tea was just the refreshing drink I needed. Second visit, tried to order the same as last visit, but they no longer have Ika (squid) sashimi. Darn. Ordered Hamachi and it was a nice sized order with a negi toro cone that was VERY well stuffed with tuna. They provided gluten free soy sauce, however, not the low sodium - be warned, it's salty if you're not used to the regular sodium level. While the kappa maki roll integrity wasn't the best I've ever had, it held together. Oh, and for take-out, they have the lightweight wood chopsticks. They'll do in a pinch, but not my favourite. I'm glad I carry my own travel set that I received as a gift. Definitely one of my top 10 sushi stops in Calgary. Oh, and if you want more than one napkin with your take-out, you might want to ask for it. read more

I came across this restaurant after getting ice cream from Marble Slab right next door (dessert before dinner)! I ordered the Green Dragon Special Roll which had prawn tempura on the inside and alternating avocado and seared unagi on top. I liked the overall presentation of the dish and I thought the ingredients worked well together. The only small miss for me was the unagi sauce, which I found to be a bit too sweet. Overall, I enjoyed the dish and would order it again. read more

Check out Takumi Sushi's newly expanded and renovated restaurant. It's nice and big. My only concern is that they hire more staff to cope with the larger size restaurant. When they had their grand reopening this past weekend, the service was very slow and they need to keep the pace up. Of course, the food was always on point. I missed their salmon sashimi - those thick slices of sweet salmon helped me forget the slow customer service. The owner told me that they are adding more ramen dishes to their menu this weekend. Probably the best priced sushi in the city ! Their basic rolls for 6.95 include 8 big pieces with lots of fish / filling inside and minimal rice. The best sushi restaurant in NW Calgary. The sashimi pieces are bigger than most sushi restaurants out there, fresh and sweet with excellent pricing. So delicious. The rolls are very flavorful, unique and hits the spot. Highly recommend. We have gotten take out three times since covid and dined in just recently. I don't suggest getting anything deep fried for take-out as it's usually only luke warm by the time you get home to eat it. Service for dine-in is slow with only one server working. If you don't have time to waste, then take out would be the best option. read more

Takumi Sushi is my new favourite sushi place. I ordered for pickup and they got my order done right on time. They packed it perfectly, they gave me enough soy sauce and tempura sauce and wasabi which a lot of places don't do. The staff was super friendly and kind. The prices were amazing considering the quality of the fish was the best I've had. I highly recommend this place and the only regret I have is that I didn't leave a big enough tip. read more

We have eaten here a couple of times before and the food is quite good. The owners used to own Nami and believe they sold it a few years ago so the menus are quite similar. Was excited to have it tonight for dinner but many mishaps along the way so we just gave up and ordered from Nami instead. Used their online ordering system for pickup at around 7pm. No problems there except however, a few mins after my ordered was canceled by an admin and I was expecting a phone call or notification as to why and didn't hear anything. The restaurant is open until 9pm and so really not sure what happened. From there we decided to just order Nami since it is way closer to us. I didn't want Takumi to accidentally prepare the canceled order so I called to double check that it was canceled. The woman who picked up the phone was extremely confused. She eventually found the order and said that I had called to cancel it earlier. I explained that it wasn't me and she said well someone called and canceled this order number and made it seem like my fault. I didn't want to get into back and forth on it so I said it was fine and to just make sure they don't make this order as we ordered food from another restaurant already. She hangs up. 45 mins later she calls me and said my food is ready for pickup. So again had to explain how the order was canceled and we had food from a different restaurant. I felt bad but I tried to ensure nothing was made. Seems chaotic there at dinner time and not organized and the service is very non chalant when dealing with things. Anyway, would like to try it again but not during peak hours. read more

This is a decent spot for sushi if you're in the NW of Calgary. We ordered the flames roll, volcano roll, Takoyaki, miso soup, salmon nigiri, spicy salmon roll, and spicy tuna roll. I am a bit picky about my sushi, and I think some experience was lost with take out. I think I may have enjoyed the food better dining in, with the fresh and hot food elements. Overall, they have a nice selection on their menu, including ramen which was a nice option to see! read more

We tried Takumi Sushi tonight after driving to Kinjo and finding them closed. We had never heard of Takumi before but read the Yelp reviews and were excited to try it! We ordered the yam tempura, spicy tuna roll, Alaska roll, dynamite roll, and Signature roll. Everything was delicious! Better than Kinjo, honestly, and we are big Kinjo fans! The service was great too; they were very accommodating with our 9 month old baby. We are happy to have Takumi close to us in Crowfoot and will definitely be back soon! read more

So far so good and it's one of my go to for sushis when I have a craving. I've never experienced anything bad there yet and I enjoy the fresh and simple sushis. When the restaurant reopen about a month ago though, service was EXTRA slow and we had a take out order so I hardly imagine what happened for people who were eating in the restaurant. read more

Hidden little gem. We arrived before the dinner rush so we got our food really quickly. I was very impressed with all of the chef's rolls and everything was priced so well. My husband and son both had ramen and they said it was probably the best in the city. It's a bit of a drive but definitely worth it. We will be back. read more

Have only ordered take out from here during Covid April-Dec 2020. Really great rolls at a reasonable prices. We love the spicy tuna rolls, California rolls and mango rolls. I've also had the seared tuna sushi, salmon sashimi and really enjoy the fast service. Call ahead to place your order for pickup. New family owned sushi restaurant in Crowfoot. I went for lunch and dinner and both times I had a pleasant experience. Food is above average but nothing specialized, although they really focus on presentation in their dishes. Pricing is pretty average - they have some 24 piece maki deal for lunch that is only $10.95! I appreciate that the maki is not jam packed with rice - my kids really liked the California rolls where we had to get a third order! Service is friendly and efficient - the owner recognized me from only one visit and they have some repeat customers already. Given that there aren't too many sushi restaurants in the NW I think they will do fairly well here. read more

We usually do takeout at Takumi but my friend came in from Banff so I decided to take her to Takumi for lunch. The place is tucked away in Crowfoot next to Marble Slab Creamery. The restaurant is clean and spacious with extensive menu. One thing I like about Takumi is that their rolls have more filling and less rice. Not to mention their great prices - 6 pieces of Spicy Salmon Rolls for under 7 dollars! We ordered mackerel thinking it was grilled but it was torched and served cold. I usually order from them from Skip or Door Dash, so I never had to deal with their customer service until just recently when I decided to pick up my order myself. I waited 30 minutes before leaving to grab my food, and when I got there they had got my order entirely wrong. They also tried to give me someone else's food without even listening to what my phone number was or what name I put the order under. They weren't rude, but it was just getting a bunch of things wrong and me having to correct them every five minutes that was annoying. The food is really good though, and the prices are amazing for what you get. 8 pieces for around 6 dollars where other places will give you 5 pieces for around the same price (or more). I always get their salmon poke (which is amazing - but doesn't come with rice) and their chopped scallop roll. I've tried a lot of other rolls and they are continuously consistent with the good quality of their food. read more

Desperately wanted to love this place, but was an unfortunate disappointment. Sushi was very good and fresh. But service was ABSOLUTELY horrible. Had 3 servers walk past us, after 20 mins of waiting as we had not received our gyoza appetizer but received everything else. No one asked if we needed anything until later. Then one server came and asked, we told her about the gyoza. Got no report back. Then another server came and asked, we told her. Heard nothing. Then a third came and she said oh ok yea sorry we're busy (the restaurant was 40% occupied) then 10 mins later we get our gyoza and they appeared to be undercooked inside, hot on the outside. Seemed like they jacked up the temperature to cook them up real fast. Just couldn't believe how slow they were given there seemed to be about 7-9 chefs in the back and 3 servers. People were waiting for take out orders as well. Want to love this place, but service was a hard no. read more
