Stopped by Talarico's Produce for a few things today. They are in a large tent filled with beautifully displayed produce. This isn't high produce season in the PNW but they had a lovely selection with lots of interesting fruits and veggies not available in your standard grocery store. The employees were friendly and helpful and knowledgeable when I asked a few questions. If I'm in that area of Portland again, I'm definitely stopping! read more

Talarico's has become our go-to destination for both day-to-day produce, and for stocking up on whatever is currently in season. Having a somewhat open air market nearby is one of those things that I find delightful when traveling in Europe, so having the same experience in my neighborhood always makes me happy to shop here. Their checkout line impulse purchases are Swedish dish sponges, which are loads of fun if you've never tried one. A combination of artful presentation and well designed lighting make it irresistible to pull out my phone, or sometimes go out of my way to bring my better camera, just to get pictures of what they have. There is better parking here than you'll find at most Hawthorne businesses. A parking lot out front is shared with the bakery next door. If you're driving westbound, a traffic island forces you to turn onto SE 22nd and enter the lot from the side. read more

Fresh & gorgeous fruit and produce that tastes as good as it looks! With Talarico's, it's like having access to a Farmers Market every day of the week. They even sell local jams, honey, and market baskets. Prices are better than the grocery store and you know everything has just been harvested. In addition to the apples, citrus, berries, root vegetables, lettuce and beans, I particularly like that they sell small bags of fresh herbs for $2. Cooking or garnishing with fresh herbs is the easiest way to brighten up any dish so I'm always picking up cilantro, Italian parsley, basil and dill when they have it. What I don't use within a few days, I freeze. This is a family business and I'm happy to support them. The owners are so kind and friendly. Located right on SE Hawthorne, there is easy parking on the street out front. read more

The produce here is fresh and varied: root vegetable, lots of fruits, nuts, lettuce, and mushrooms. The selection goes beyond the staples of a produce stand with fresh figs, and unique varieties. I picked up some perisean cucumbers and radishes to eat at some wineries today with some local cheeses I bought elsewhere. read more

Fantastic addition to the SE Hawthorne area community. Family-owned business offering a wide variety of vegetables and fruits. On our most recent trip we picked some tasty tomatoes, bell peppers, mushrooms, berries, brocolli, and onions. Since Talarico's is open from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. every day, it's a convenient and reliable local place to shop. We used to frequent Kruger's, now closed, about a block away. We now go to Talarico's. Great service. Decent prices. Really nice selection of fruits and vegetables. read more

It's an adorable stand with fresh produce, things you wouldn't expect like Hawaiian papaya and guava! Very affordable in pricing and the produce looked well taken care of - you didn't come across molded or bruised fruits. They also had a selection of honeys! Very nice produce! Not expensive, cheaper than Fred Meyer and other stores. There were some bees on the berries outside, which I found rad. But maybe not if you're allergic. Their discount produce was $2 or less for a lot! I also saw last time I was there that they accept EBT. read more

The best freaking produce in Portland! I have been not found a better market or grocery store with better quality and selection than here. I'm glad I found them when I did because going anywhere else citrus, mangoes, and Strawberries is laughable at this point. My fiancé went today and became a believer. I spent just a little over $10 and left with a bunch of fruit and vegetables. I was able to buy a little small baggie of tumeric from Fiji. A bunch of asparaguses was only a couple of dollars. Definitely worth a stop, and it's literally in Grand Central station's parking lot! There's a card limit just like most produce stands, but you'll want to spend more than the card minimum. Everything was fresh and tasty and probably a little less than Fred Meyer or New Seasons! read more

Here at Talerico's today (4/25/18, in the Grand Central Baking parking lot), our favorite fruit stand, we got 14 qts. Local strawberries (that's right, more than TWO flats) cauliflower, local asparagus, peppers, brocoli, and green onions for about $30. You couldn't even get the strawberries alone for less than twice this price at the big PSU "farmer's market" and tourist trap. ;) The strawberries are SO tasty and a better price even than Fred Meyer (2.99/qt) and the quality of all the produce is wonderful! read more

I loved Talarico's as a safe place to buy local produce during the pandemic. I rode my bike there yesterday and observed their egg vendor without a mask in the store talking with the staff. They have a Mask Required sign posted. I waited for about 10 mins. when a staff person came outside. I asked why they don't require the guy from Chicken Stratch to wear a mask. The staff replied, "We have tried", and shrugged. I am appalled that a food business would allow a vendor to be around their customers unmasked during a surge in COVID. The owner of Talarico's should tell the owner of Chicken Scratch that it will change the egg suppler if their guy won't comply. I assume that even now that the Govern is requiring people to wear masks even in outdoor settings that Talarico's will not enforce the mandate for this guy. Shameful for a business that is supposed to stand for local and community. The business has lost a long-standing customer. read more

I'd like to caution customers to pay attention when the cashier is ringing you up because I was overcharged for almost every fruit I purchased. I went home and checked the weights of what I bought and they charged me $0.50 to $1 over each produce item I bought. read more

This is a wonderful spot, with wonderful people, great produce, and even a section of slightly wrinkled but still perfectly tasty fruit and vegetables that are discounted but still just right for eating that day or even a few days later. Their produce is as local as they can find, with a fine pesticide-free and organic selection.
