I love that you can make appts ahead of time, and he ran true to our appt time on the dot and was expecting me. In fact, he greeted me by first name. Talbot Kuper is an amazing hair stylist and barber, hands down! Every time I come in for either a haircut or a shave, his technique never fails and I always leave with exactly what I want, which is not a very easy task if you try to press your luck with one of the Floyd's or any other random hair styling place for men. I've been seeing Talbot for probably five years now, and now that he relocated to his own establishment, he's able to provide a low cost and a private ambiance. The location has free underground parking, walking distance to many coffee shops and places to eat before you hit the Pier in Hermosa. Talbot also has his own line of men's hair styling products too. They are made in the USA and he puts a lot of thought into making them. If you live in the Southbay, I strongly recommend you setup an appointment before his schedule books up. This was possibly my most interesting haircut in California. Talbot's shop is tucked into the back-left corner of Curious, and has two barber's chairs. A quaint, quiet, cozy space where a bearded man plays indie tunes and pours a wealth of barbering knowledge over your head until your hairs are perfect. Talbot himself was a very friendly and accommodating man who has a cosmetology license as well, so stash those reservations about scissor cuts. He gave me exactly what I was looking for, corrected past barbers' mistakes, straight-razored shaved my neck, and charged a fair price. If you find yourself in Hermosa, this should be the only place you get a quick trim-up. read more

Stumbled upon Talbot's shop inside Curious gift store in Hermosa Beach and I could not be more stoked! I am growing my beard out and have been struggling with shaping it and determining my "beard style." So, moseying through Curious with my wife this past weekend I meet Talbot and we strike up a "beard chat." Long review short, Talbot says to me, "Sit down, let me help you with this." So he hands me a snifter of bourbon and squares away my beard. The rest of the day my wife commented on how much better my beard looked, Talbot scored a regular customer, and we also bought some hilarious greeting cards for some friends that are not easily offended :) read more

Poor business management from one business owner to another due better. Just straight up didn't show up for my booked and confirmed appointment. Then when I called to find out what happened the barber sounded wasted and this was at around noon on a Thursday. I seriously doubt the reviews on here they must be from his friends and family because I received the complete opposite. Also the shop is hard to find it's inside another business which makes me wonder a lot because it's in a super popular beach city, like if you're so good why are you hiding??
