We bought a living social deal for a one hour wine and cheese tasting for 4. It was a good deal for the price. This little wine shop is located in the large shopping plaza, The Collection. It's on the far backside near mellow mushroom. The shop is small but has a ton of wines ranging from $10- the most expensive I saw was about $91, but they probably have higher prices. The tasting was held in a room in the back. There was a large table that sat about 12 people plus some additional bar type seating against the wall. My only major complaint and why I didn't give more stars is the stools that line the table to sit on for an hour straight. SO UNCOMFORTABLE! Backless seats are uncomfortable enough but these are steel and our trip to the shop was in the winter time so we had on long sweaters which caused us to constantly slowly slip off the metal stool. I was glad it was only an hour event. Our hostess pouring and educating us did well, but she was no guru. She was fun and pleasant though. Sad news is that the county limits the amount they are allowed to pour so this isn't like some tasting I've been to in the past (or in the city) that are generous. All-in-all glad we went but not sure I'd do another tasting, but because the staff was so friendly and the selection of wine was nice I would consider buying again. (I bought one of the wines we tasted which were all very generously priced at less than $20)

This was so fun! I am not a huge fan of white wine, but this was informative and opened my eyes to some whites that I can actually drink. And the cheese... Omg the cheese was so great! Everything was affordable, too. We found a red blend we loved and bought some. Really the only thing that would've made this better was a mountain scenery in the background, but I think that's a little too much to ask for Cumming. Teehee. We'll definitely check the schedule and be back sometime!

Great place! I love this place! It is very personal. Wine, cheese, crackers. The history of the wine, how long the aging process takes.

Knowledgeable, friendly owner and great selection of wine personally picked by the owner. Won't find these wines in normal grocery stores.

The selection is vast, there is plenty of beer, wine and liquor to meet anyone's needs. When you walk in, you can grab a little cart in case you're buying way more than you think you're going to need in order to make it easier to lug around all the bottles you are going to get. Coming from Chicago, I am used to very competitive pricing even with the high rate of taxes that they push there in IL. The pricing here is also very competitive. I like buying the "handles" because the price per oz. is going to be the best, and yeah it's hard to store handles in your home but why pay more when you can get the best deal possible? On checkout, they have put up a plastic barrier to keep your distance from the person cashing you out. It's a nice touch, and gives you the peace of mind that you're not going to have close contact with anyone if you can avoid it. The cashier also offered to provide me with a box so I could carry everything out to my car conveniently so I also liked that touch. HOWEVER.... The last time I was here, I had a very awkward encounter while shopping. I was the only one in the store that was not an employee, and I assume this person was the owner or manager...he was super unhappy with the placement one of the other employees made with boxes of beverages on a display in the store. He was REALLY unhappy and kept commenting on it to the employee, and it was super awkward. I guess it had something to do with the wood flooring, and I get that it's probably something that could have been avoided. But I was walking around the store trying to figure out how to avoid being around this super agitated situation. I wish that they took the conversation in the back, or maybe handled it with a quiet dialogue rather than having the boss chew this guy out right on the spot for at least 3-4 minutes while I'm trying to figure out how to get what I need and get the hell out of dodge. You're the boss, or the owner- it's your right to treat your employees however you do- but man it's super weird to watch that happen while I'm trying to spend over $120 on alcohol at your store. It's like watching people that treat servers poorly just because they think they are better than them. Not a fan. Especially these days when things are super stressful enough with employment, health, and finances being so up in the air. It just was rough all around. I hope that it was a one time thing, but I don't know that I'm coming back here because I felt horrible about the entire situation. If I could have stayed and told the guy getting hollered at to try and let it roll off, I would have. But it was still going on when I left.

What a wonderful little cheese shop that also sources a selection of local Georgian treats…read more There was an upcoming virtual event that I couldn't make but had called to get more details. I spoke with Mary on the phone. She was very friendly, high energy and helpful. She happened to note the shop hours for the next day during our conversation. Since I had some free time, I decided to frive out there the next day. I had the pleasant experience of meeting Mary (and her curious pooch) in person and she was every bit of the fantastic person that I spoke to the day before. I was the only customer at the time so I was privy to a brief personal tour. I received information on the various products, who made them, where they were made, etc. There was a lot of good choices in the small shop. After much debate I decide on the following items: 1. Goodson Cinnamon Sugar Pecans- delicious light pecan crunch packing a cinnamon punch. My cousin and I devoured this treat in minutes. I should have bought at least 2 bags. 2. Goodson Dark Chocolate Covered Pecans - again with the light pecan crunch. I love dark chocolate - this chocolate was not bitter or too sweet. I really enjoyed these. I wish that I had bought many bags. 3. Spottes Trotter's Spanish Salchichon - I rarely eat salami so this was a risky choice for me. It was surprisingly flavorful and not salty. Again, I opened these to share with family just in case I couldn't eat them - they were devoured. I know that they were bought with the idea of cheese pairing but I put mine in the midst of a cream cheese bagel and loved it. My only regret is probably not buying more. 4. Beehive Cheese Barely Buzzed - This cheese is rubbed with expresso and lavender. I was intrigued. It was recommended for coffee lovers and pairing with berries. Who can resist trying an award winning cheese? At my first coffee opportunity, I sampled a few slices. Delicious. Reminds me of aged cheddar with a subtle flavor...I don't know it came across as basil. Lol. I can't wait to try it with fresh berries. The final selections haven't been tried as of this writing: 5. Thomasville Tomme Raw Cows Milk Cheese. 6. Kenny's Farmhouse Gouda I've always enjoy a good raw milk cheese and a good gouda. I'm looking forward to making something delicious with them. Thus far, my only regret is buying only 1 of each of my choices. I do hope to visit again post covid to enjoy a full in person experience at a tasting/hosted event.

A real delight to work with her -- and with a name like Cheese & Mary, you have to appreciate her wit and humor. My first time trying a charcuterie here was getting in on a Valentine's special that we enjoyed as part of our anniversary celebration. It was artfully arranged and contained a mixture of sweet, savory, and hearty bites. Some of the things on the plate, I thought, this is an odd pairing, but when I ate it together, it was really good! She knows what she's doing. I'm a little sad the shop is going to close because it's really charming, but I'm okay with it since she's going to be running a virtual store and taking orders still.
