I can't really blame the low rating on the server, this place was pretty busy. It's a holiday travel day so the management or owner should have known they would be busy. There was one server, one bartender and two cooks. The place was full and the server tried to turn ppl away because they were just overwhelmed. That being said, we ordered and waited well over 1/2 hr for our food. My son's food sat in the pass through a good 15 minutes before it was delivered...cold of course. I ordered chicken strips and fries...I did not get any sauce or ketchup. My husband's meal came out about 15 minutes after ours. Not sure what took so long for a plate of nachos. As for the quality of the food, it was less than expected. The fries were dark brown, way overcooked and greasy tasting. The best part of the meal was the mozzarella sticks, but can you really ruin those? The server was trying, I can't really blame her. She was set up for failure. There was a bartender working. I went into the bar. One table. Yet this poor kid ran her butt off in a FULL dining room with NO help from the bar tender. I can't even complain about the service because I think she was doing the best she could to keep up. I think this is a good hangout for the locals, but during busy summer months they need to step it up and schedule more help. read more

Enroute to Yakima we stopped for lunch. Upon entering the restaurant, no one was in sight. (Our server was on a break) We seated ourselves & eventually the female who served us appeared. She was very nice. We ordered the St Helens Bacon burger which was accompanied by waffle fries and a side. The hubby got beans while I ordered coleslaw. The burgers were delicious, beans were great, however, the 3 stars were for my coleslaw which had the taste & smells of the refrigerator. Had the smothered pulled pork and chicken,coleslaw,garlic mashed potatoes, and a biscuit for 15.99. The slaw was bagged stuff and had little to no dressing, the potatoes where meh okay,had to ask for the biscuit because on the paper menu it doesn't say it comes with it but it was on the menu outside(where we had to order). The chicken breast looked and tasted like the ones you buy in the bulk bags from the frozen department at any grocery store it was dry. Honestly the only good thing I ate from there was the pulled pork. Our total for my food, my husband's and two sodas was just under 50.00 and Honestly not worth it. BBQ pork rib rack, nice flavor but needed another 1-2 hours cooking; bit chewy. Quite the quantity for my meal. The Triple Club was great. Choice of sides. Great strawberry lemonade. Chocolate eclair was store bought (cream inside, not custard), but still good. Lemon marange pie was excellent. read more

If you like a restaurant that prepares packaged and frozen food for dinner, this might be your place. Every restaurant is only as good as the cook and the meal plan. Unfortunately, when we went was not the best time for a good impression. We ordered simple fare and a dessert and just about everything was disappointing. The "On Top of Old Smokey" meal was advertised as a large meatball with gravy and roasted corn and peppers for the side. The meatball was about 2-1/2" in diameter, warm on top, cooked hard on bottom and cold and somewhat pink in the middle (like previously packaged and frozen). If it had been thoroughly cooked it might have been good. The gravy was very good. Our other meal was a simple turkey and gravy on toast. It was pretty good. The slices of turkey had a smoked turkey flavor, the toast was a normal slice of bread (wheat or white was offered), and the gravy was good. When we asked about the vegetables, we were told that they came in a frozen package and were boiled prior to serving. The package included roasted corn, and some peppers that tasted frozen, boiled and watery as expected. At $9.99 per plate, I guess it was OK, but I would have preferred to eat at home. The dessert menu offered a tempting "Fry Bread with Cinnamon"$3.75. My wife likes fry bread and we get it whenever we can. This one was quite disappointing, however. The only way you can mess up fry bread is to overcook it, and they managed to do that. Hard bottom and edges and burnt around the edges. I had also ordered a $1.95 Chocolate chunk cookie for my dessert. I was presented with a rather good 5" cookie still in the cellophane wrapping. We expect restaurants to prepare food actually prepared on site by a real cook and not just unpackaged from the freezer or refrigerator, inconsistently heated and served. Our hope is to have something better than we might have at home if we were to pull something from the freezer and heat and eat. I really believe that they should be able to do better than this. read more

We went for the old menu they have changed the menu to a new very small menu and all they serve is burgers... Just burgers with sides now and a very small selection of burgers these burgers are made with the smallest non sesame buns you can buy, my burger had sauce on one of the buns nothing else we left hungry after having burgers and fries, you have to order at the counter, and they call your name, and you go get your food napkins and any sauce packets and drinks all while the server sat at a booth visiting with the locals. We always loved this restaurant before and were looking forward to a full dinner after not eating all day. There was another customer who was from out of town he also commented on the lack of service and size of the entrees. read more

The BBQ pulled pork on fry bread was excellent! The waffle fries were the best I've ever had. I also had a side of coleslaw which was typical coleslaw but put on top of the pulled pork made for a tasty meal! Our server was wonderful and attentive. This is not the place to receive a quick bite. There is a bit of a wait to get your food but in my opinion well worth the wait. We were passing through after visiting eastern Washington and were hungry for a meal. We stopped in to this quaint, mostly locals only joint. We were quickly greeted by a friendly server who took our drink orders and went over the menu. We were so pleased with our portions and the taste of our food. The motel rooms are also very nice and clean. They also have a drive-through portion called the Road Runner which makes astounding hamburgers really fast. We're from Seattle and were being tourists at nearby Mount St. Helens. It was a Sunday and we were hungry for breakfast but figured it was probably too late for breakfast, given it was 2pm. Based on the great reviews on Yelp, we pulled into Tall Timbers. As we pulled up we chuckled at two men, on the porch, in rocking chairs chatting. That felt comfy and homey. The restaurant was super clean. Our waitress was very attentive, delightful, friendly, helpful. And we were excited to discover they serve breakfast all day. We consider ourselves foodies. I ordered an omelette and it was promptly served with hashbrowns and English muffin. I thought it was pretty darn good. Boyfriend ordered eggs and pancakes and thought they were delicious. The coffee was great and was refilled throughout our meal. We thought that the prices were very reasonable. Overall, it was a great meal and we would happily eat there again. read more

Randle, WA might not be the center of the universe gastronomically speaking nor be a nightlife hotspot. However, this is a fantastic little find on Hwy 12. During the daytime their restaurant is awesome...particularly for breakfast but the chicken dinner is excellent as well. It is rare to find big portions of extremely moist chicken anywhere. At night the bar is a fun place to hang out and the owner seems to be extremely involved in meeting customers and ensuring everyone leaves happy. If you are in the area I could not suggest any place better to spend time and a few dollars. Good prices, good food & drinks, and great people!!! read more

We've been here a couple of times and our meals have gotten progressively worse. Maybe it's in our selection, as the the 4-5 star reviews I've read on here are for items we haven't tried. Breakfast is decent. Don't get the chili burger. The "all beef patty" meat was terrible and really low quality, and it was $12! I couldn't bring myself to eat it and didn't even save it for my dogs, that's how terrible it was. The waitress got our order wrong, adding items to it that we didn't ask for then still charged us for the add ons, even though she knew we didn't actually want the add ons because we had a conversation about how we never asked for them to be added. The restaurant is clean and it seems like it could be a fun place for a beer on a summer afternoon. read more

Went here Sunday for breakfast, the waitress had a bad attitude. We said we had a party of 9 and it was like she didn't want us there. We ordered 4 cups of coffee and one decaf, she was really snotty when we asked for the decaf saying it would take five minutes to make it. We said that was fine we will wait. 15 minutes later the decaf came out and we still didn't have are regular cups of coffee. 10 minutes later we got are coffee and asked for creamer and spoons, she came back and gave us 2 spoons and we said we needed more then 2 and we needed silverware. She brought the silverware and just put it on the end of the table with no napkins. When are food came they put it in to go boxes and said they ran out of plates but labeled all the boxes. She never once to come back to check on us. I will never eat here again and being from Lewis County and living 45 minutes away I'm always out there and will tell everybody I know my experience and not to eat there. Trust me drive to huff and puff, go to Packwood or Morton and I'll bet you will find a way better place to eat. read more

I'm so impressed with this place. I am traveling across country and have come across many small town pub/restaurants along the way. With few competitors in the area, this place still keeps up high standards without a lot of competition in the area. Good food: I had the pulled pork on fry bread (recommended by the waitress) with baked beans. Good beer: a large variety of choices and I enjoyed the Elysian Brewing Space IPA on tap. Great service: The proprietor, Cliff, should be grateful to have Amanda and Shelley on staff, because they do EVERYTHING and do it well. They have been extremely attentive, even with a big holiday crowd while I was here.
