Per the review, I did NOT experience any of the previous issues. My time here was superb! I originally came here to choose a wedding ring. Vast selectionmnnn--too much even, but I love extra :)! I came back every 3m to get said ring cleaned and gathered some rings to be sized, and took them. It was a bit pricey, between $50-60 per ring. I had a lot of five. My call came back looking CRYSTAL bright as if it were just purchased today. Will you be back for me to pick up and review their lot of vintage-styled rings :D. Sean and Amanda at Tallahassee Diamond are a great team! They are patient, professional, kind and above all honest. We gave Sean a price point which he adhered to. Not knowing what shape diamond for an engagement ring we wanted, Sean took the time to explain the differences, certifications and types of stones in detail. We were never rushed through the purchase. We chose a stunning radiant cut GIA certified stone. The stone is also laser inscribed for identification purposes. Amanda graciously showed us numerous settings until we found the perfect choice! Sean's team was able to set the stone immediately in the store. My future daughter-in -law had gone to several other jewelers in the area just to get some ideas. Their prices were 30% higher with inferior stones. They also didn't take the time to explain descriptions and certifications of grading of the stones. I moved here 2 years ago and wasn't familiar with any jewelers in the area. While speaking to friends I found that all of them used Sean for their jewelry. Apparently, this is the go to store in Tallahassee. Not one had any negative comments just positive! Went in after Thanksgiving to buy a sterling silver bracelet and have my charms placed on it. The jeweler acted insulted and even commented about one of the charms, "This is PEWTER!". I retorted, "Yes, I know that." I went back a week later and the work was sloppy... one charm was attached backwards, and someone had dipped the bracelet in a cleaner that removed the dark areas from the charm recesses. I was so disappointed, and the woman who handed the bracelet to me looked concerned so she dropped the charges. I went to another jeweler to get it done right. Listen, I own valuable jewelry too but will NEVER go back to this place. read more

Because of my excellent first experience here, I came back when I needed a repair on my ring last year. First off, I was bothered by the fact that it was the height of the pandemic and no one was masked. I went in anyway, and showed the woman behind the counter the issue with my ring. She called the owner over and he looked at it and quoted me a price and said it would take about a week and that he couldn't start until Monday at the very earliest (I went in on a Thursday). Since he had said that, I asked him if I could bring it back in Monday rather than leave it over the weekend because it was my now-deceased grandma's ring. He got very huffy and said he had millions of dollars of jewelry in his store and if I couldn't trust him then he didn't need my business. I was very affronted because I wasn't accusing him or anything - just figured why leave it if he couldn't work on it anyway? I left and went to The Gem Collection and had a much better experience. read more

My review of Tallahassee Diamond Center was removed, so I will repost it again: Horrible! When they opened a decade, you could walk in and expect, good FAIR service. Unfortunately, greed coupled with over extending ability to operate with integrity brought this business its downfall. Not only are the prices high, the treatment from the employees and owner is downright deplorable. While my spouse and I have done business in the past with TDC, we will not be bringing our business there any longer. The staff is an arrogant composite of lying, ego maniacal goblins who try to scam even the most*educated consumer*. Adios and good riddance! read more

I never leave bad reviews, but this was one of the worst experiences I've ever encountered. Let it be known I called Tallahassee Diamond Center confirming they could they could assist me in hopes not to waste anyone's time. I spoke with and elderly women who said if I brought in my watch band that they would have it ready by that afternoon or at the latest, the next day. Simple request-- remove links from my watch band. I drive to their store, enter, and the elderly lady greets me. She then looks at my band and walks over to who I guess is the "owner" and he said no we don't do those. What?? I just called and you said you did. I simply asked. Ok who do you suggest not understanding why they couldn't assist me. He then tells me I should take my expensive watch band to the mall kiosk. Insulting. Again, still confused, I asked why is it you don't do these? He said well, the guy who does that isn't here. I think he works on Saturday. Again. What??? You don't know? I would have gladly brought my watch band back-- he didn't give me that option. I then called the Gem Collection, they welcomed me to come in immediately. Guess what? They took out my watch links as I waited, they offered me beverages and snacks, made me feel welcomed. What a wonderful experience. I highly recommend GEM COLLECTION. Tallahassee Diamond doesn't deserve the your business. read more

The owner is great. Very knowledgable and honest about his product. He sat down with us and educated us on how to look at diamonds and assess their value. I'm very happy with my ring, it's beautiful. His staff on the other hand...not too thrilled. I brought my ring in to be resized, and when I got it back, it was still far too large. When I showed the man how big it still was, he literally asked me, "you're not gonna cry now, are ya?" Are you kidding me? Didn't leave feeling good. Next time I'll take it to get resized elsewhere and just pay the extra. read more

This place is AWFUL. The customer service there is non existent. Their manager Bruce should not be working in front of people. I brought my wedding ring there for repair after my insurance company suggested it. Big mistake. Bruce basically chased me out of there on 2 occasions stating that he had not received confirmation to go ahead with the repair. After speaking to my insurance company, they said they gave DETAILED instructions on how to bill for the repair. I will not be stepping foot near that place ever again. read more

I would like to share a cautionary story regarding one of the most disrespectful and offensive customer service experiences I have ever had. I brought a necklace on a sterling silver chain to The Diamond Center for repair, as a link had separated from the clasp. When I went to pick up the necklace, I immediately noticed that the chain felt much too long, but given that the necklace had been broken for a few weeks, I thought I might have misremembered how it felt. Upon comparison of where the necklace was now falling on my chest with photos at home, I confirmed that indeed the necklace was significantly longer than it had been before. I called the store the next day and spoke with the owner and head jeweler, voicing my concerns. I explained the situation and asked for my original chain back (wondering if a mistake had been made), as this one was clearly much longer. I was met with immediate aggression from the owner, who jumped on the defensive and accused me of being rude and combative for even asserting that this might not be the original chain. I had to calm him down, and then we agreed I would stop in to the store later that day. That afternoon I stopped in to show the owner and jeweler the existing necklace and the comparative photos. The owner and jeweler were uninterested in what I had to say or what photos I was providing. Instead, the owner sought just to prove me wrong and shut me up. He pulled out a ruler and another silver-looking chain, though no proof of it being the same material was provided. He proceeded to pull this chain to attempt to show me how silver can stretch. This may all be well and good when a chain is strongly pulled on from both ends, but that doesn't explain how my chain prior to the clasp breaking (which was not by force) would have stretched in the week it was left in the hands of The Diamond Center if that was even the case. When I gently questioned this as I was processing what the owner had just showed me, he immediately raised his voice and was completely aggressive, rude, and disrespectful to me that I would dare question him. I think this owner has a serious misunderstanding of what aggression and combativeness versus the courage to speak up when you are dissatisfied with service look like, given that I spoke softly and respectfully both on the phone and in the store. Completely aghast, I simply walked out after being manhandled and berated the way that I just had been. I have never been spoken to in such demeaning and degrading manner, especially by a store owner or manager. I certainly did not trust The Diamond Center with any rectifying solution it may have provided (which, in fact for the record, they did not provide). Do not go to this store for any type of repair work. Do not go to this store if you expect any kind of collaborative problem solving for a service issue. Do not trust that this store will take care of you if you purchase something and it breaks. Do not trust this petty and hot-tempered store owner to listen to you or speak to you with any kind of concern for your satisfaction or respect as a human being. I will never set foot in this store again and caution others against patronizing this establishment. read more

I took 2 rings in - one to be resized and one to be redesigned. The resizing was fine. However, the redesign took almost a week longer than the date we were told to pick it up. We went to the shop four times to pick up the ring and they never once called and told us it wasn't ready. When we were finally able to pick up the ring, one of the sales people joked that surely it was worth all those trips! Really?!! Not only did I not like the redesign, they had not even cleaned the jeweler's paste from under the stone. Apparently, they didn't value our business (maybe it wasn't high dollar enough?). Don't get me wrong Bruce was nice to work with but the terrible customer service from every other employee leaving your stomach in your throat when you leave is not worth it. WHEN YOU DONT LIKE YOUR RING SOLEY BECAUSE THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS ALL YOU THINK ABOUT WHEN YOU LOOK AT IT ...ITS VERY SAD. Your engagement ring is the last thing you want to feel that way about. It is hard to put into words the looks and tones that you receive from people but I will try because this is by far the worst customer service I have ever received and with their type of business, it makes it even worse. I am one that always calls(or hunts down the manager in store) to compliment good customer service because I have been a customer service manager for some time, but this is the one worthy of a terrible terrible review. I cannot even begin to tell you how TERRIBLE their customer service is. Two days after I got engaged, I noticed my ring had a chunk missing in the band. Being newer to jewelry, I had no idea if this was my fault or an error because I had something custom made, etc. When I called to bring it in I was told three times, while being cut off, "things happen things happen things happen" obviously stating it was my fault (it ended up not being my fault). Then I was told my ring might be ready on Saturday and if it wasn't I would hear from them. Come Thursday I never heard from them and when I called just to find out if it was ready, they told me they were "too busy with customers to help me on the phone" and they "don't call people anyway" even though my ticket stub said,"will call if not ready on Saturday". I was less than five minutes away and I showed up to an empty store. 3 employees and no customers. They could not of been more rude. No eye contact, cutting me off(AGAIN), and just turned their backs to me so I was obligated to just leave the store. I kid you not. They told me it would be ready that day at three with nothing else to be said. When I arrived later that day, it was returned to me completely crooked and somehow went from the right size to the wrong size. I left it with them(AGAIN) to fix it and when I went to pick it up they tried to give it back to me without fixing the size when the ticket clearly said, "straighten and resize". So, I had to leave it with them...again. I really just don't get it. Also, the first time my fiance picked up the ring, it was uneven and not symmetrical. How did they make so many mistakes?! There are many other parts of the conversations I could describe, including rolling of the eyes at me, making me feel unworthy, belittled, unimportant, even dumb, but I think my feelings have come across. I am hoping (and assuming) that my feelings toward my ring won't include them in the future. It is just so unfortunate that the employees are so rude they can ruin a moment and a time in your life that is so special and irreplaceable.I should add that with all of the mistakes there was NEVER AN "I'M SORRY" or even a hint that they weren't doing their jobs. I always felt like I was in there because it was MY FAULT. read more

Customer service is horrible. Don't expect anyone to move quickly on anything. Plan on calling for weeks only to find out something cannot be done. I wanted to purchase a ring and get something sized -- was suppose to take three days. I never heard back from anyone for two weeks, and still waited after that only to cancel my order. I brought a watch to TDC to get a battery replaced -- it took a month, only to find out they couldn't fix it, after I called to check in on it for the third time. Please read Google reviews as well!!! So incredibly hilarious to see how Sean's "personal problems" seem to be a topic throughout the years of reviews. I'm just getting around to sharing my experience back in December 2013. I took several items to be resized and reappraised. The sizing took no time, however, the appraisal took forever!! I'm very reluctant to wear expensive jewelry that isn't appraised at it's current value b/c my luck something would happen. I called to check on the appraisals and was told they had to check and someone would call me back. Never heard back. I called a couple days later and was told the same thing and never heard back. Called again a couple days later and demanded to find out what was going on. The guy hung up on me. I called back and asked to speak to Sean. I explained to him how rude the other guy was and this is the response I got..."What do you expect me to do? Fire all the good people I have left? I'm busting at the seams here" ......I was in such shock. I told him there is no reason for people to talk to customers like I was spoken to when I was simply trying to figure out what was going on with my appraisals so I could start wearing my jewelry again. Sean preceded to rant and rave and said " I will have your appraisals ready" and then hung up. I truly can't believe he is still in business. I hope more customers will speak up about their experiences and ruin his reputation. I don't care what kind of problems you have going on in your life, who doesn't??? It's no reason to treat the people who are providing you financial gain like a piece of crap. Never oh never will I ever be back. Sean can bite me!! read more

Horrible experience. We were purchasing a $14,000 anniversary ring from the Tallahassee Diamond Center. Over the course of 8 weeks we felt they lied several times about the status of our ring and then told us they wanted us to come in so they could refund our payment. They said they designers were awful and they've been fired and they felt they should just refund our payment. This is a horrible place to do business with. read more

I give a two only because of Sean the owner who has been quite helpful and friendly over the years I have done business at Tallahassee Diamond Center. I recently took a vintage diamond and pearl ring in to have a stone replaced. It was a European cut stone and difficult to find. Since Sean deals in vintage jewelry I felt this would be a good place to go for a replacement stone. It took a bit longer than planned which was okay since I wanted it to be done right. When I picked up the ring I noticed right away the significant difference in the replaced stone. One of the younger male staff assured me that it was just that it was a better quality stone and a brighter color than the others. Later when I examined it under a microscope I noted the facets were not right and there were actual scratches on the top. My suspicions were confirmed when I took it to another jeweler who verified that it was not even a diamond. When I returned to the store and asked to speak with Sean he was not available but the staff brought out the jeweler. He came out, gun strapped to his side, which was somewhat intimidating and told me it was a mistake. I could not believe an experienced jeweler would make that kind of mistake. He told me he would make it right even though at this point I certainly lost my trust in him. When I went back a few days later, as instructed, he had not done anything, told me he did not want to deal with it and just told the staff to give me a refund which they did. read more
