The sites themselves are very nice, and it is quiet. We did get hit by a storm, but our camper held up quite well. The lodge is also a beautiful building and has scenic views. The park was clean and there is a small nature center with live animals and reptiles. The staff are friendly and helpful too. The one downside is the firewood issue that persists in most state parks. You aren't allowed to bring in firewood from other places (unless bought in the area), and they charge you a ridiculous amount for what are little more than shims to use. Overall, this was a wonderful end to our Georgia journey.

Parking was nearby, but it is not like you saw the cars from your camp spot. The bathrooms were a short drive, or long walk away and were clean. There was plenty of space at the actual site for us to spread out. We moved some of the tables so we could have a centralized kitchen and eating area. The lake was right at the bottom of our site, although getting up and down the steep hill was tough, a great cardio workout. The scenery in the area was amazing! Also, shout out to the host as she let me in after hours as the gates close at 9pm. I got there at 9:30, called the number on the booth, and she came right out.

We were excited to swimming, the lady at the booth was super nice. When we drove in, it was an incredibly small area of lake roped off, and it was full of young children swimming. It seems like a great place for families with kids to go swimming in a safe area and enjoy the day but it was not our cup of tea. If you are a couple who does not have children, this is not the place for you. It's very much a place for families and kids to go swim. We decided not to swim there and went to carters like dam instead, which the guy at the booth recommended. Carter's lake dam is a regular lake, and was incredibly peaceful and clean. If you have kids come to Harris branch, if you don't then go to carters dam!

Cooper Creek Campground is absolutely the most beautiful, off the beaten path, places I've ever…read moretraveled and it's practically in Atlanta's back yard! Located on the beautiful and noisy Cooper/Mulky Creek just an hour north of Dahlonega up Hwy 60 and then up some of the most beautiful and winding mountain roads that make you think you're never going to get there! By the time you turn on to Forest Service Rd 236 (a beautiful and peaceful dirt mountain road that climbs up through the pine and hardwood forests), you realize there is something amazing waiting for you. And there is. Cooper Creek Campground is like reaching a little slice of heaven. Fifteen campsites scatter through out the lush forest, and five of them sit right on the banks of Cooper/Mulky Creek. I advise getting there early during the week so you can get a creek side spot ... there is nothing like it! The creek is rocky and noisy and if you fish, the trout are plentiful! I walked the loop and all of the campsites were beautiful and within easy walking distance to the creek. As a solo hiker and camper, I chose spot #1 for the way the creek opened up and the trees opened up around my tent site to give me a clear view of a beautiful moon. I also liked the quiet solitude of this site ... few cars passed here since it's on the back loop. The campground hosts also live two spots up. As an avid (delirious almost) rock stacker, I fell in love with this creek. The rocks are amazing and perfect for stacking and balancing. It was so relaxing I stacked till after dark and was up just after sunrise stacking again! The pine cones in camp are plentiful, so I got a good pine smoke going and didn't have the first mosquito or black fly. I'm telling you ... this place is heaven! After dark a bunch of deer came through my camp and lapped at the creek for almost a half hour. Two fawns frolicked in the fern thickets next to my tent for a while and were bouncing around like puppies! With the light of the moon, I felt like I had a front row seat for natures big show that night! Also, there are synchronous fireflies here, which surprised me. Just after dark during the Summer Solstice, I thought it was kids playing with flashlights, but it was fireflies, all blinking in unison! It was amazing! I can't WAIT to go back! In fact, now that I'm home, I'm missing it. Cooper Creek is open year round and keep their gates open 24 hours a day. You won't get a phone signal here, so you may as well turn it off ... the solitude is amazing! Each site has a tent pad, grills, lantern pole and a picnic table. There are also bear bins that are an easy walk from each site for discarding trash. For hikers, you won't be disappointed. There are five interconnected trails that start in or near the camping area (Yellow Mountain Trail- 3.2 miles, Connector Trail- 0.4 miles, Mill Shoals Trail- 0.9 miles, Shope Gap Trail- 0.6 miles, and Cooper Creek Trail- 1.7). I found myself hiking in and out and exploring trail after trail. The abundance of trees at Cooper Creek keep the temperatures down, much cooler than up on the main road. I paid $10 a night for my site. There are faucets for drinking water and there are two vaults for bathrooms. There are no electric hook ups or dump stations. Primitive camping at it's finest! There are no reservations ... everything is first come, first serve. Have fun everyone!

We were in Villa 30b, and it was a spacious two story three bedroom 2 bath free standing unit in a…read moregated community up in the mountains. The roads were steep and very narrow with no shoulder. There was a nice view off the large balcony. We had a huge hot tub in the center of the downstairs level surrounded by glass. However, it was not in working order. There is a stacking washer dryer, but it is teensy weeny, and in the bedroom, and sounds like major jack hammer highway construction, seriously. Additionally, the indoor community pools were closed. The outdoor firepit was being used as a dog pooping area, and there were about 50 piles. There's hiking trails in the area as well as some nice towns besides Ellijay to visit in the vicinity, like Blue Ridge and Jasper. Fyi, February seems to be a rainy month.

The Coosawattee River Resort is indeed very tranquil and peaceful and chock full of beautiful scenery. We took advantage of the change in scenery and hired a professional photographer to take our family portraits in one of the parks. Oh, feral cats living under my porch, fed by an employee two buildings down at the Town Hall. Calling and visiting the front desk, they were friendly and apologetic and sent bottles of wine, but wine does not stop mosquitos biting. "Engineering" never showed up, I presume because they don't exist. 12th consecutive year here for an annual golf tournament. Something has changed and their room care has plunged. Literally an insect infested room with no response beyond "here is some wine and we're oh so sorry". If you come here, bring Deet to spray on your body and bug killer to spray around the perimeter of the floors. Oh, mosquitos on the toilet as well. Gym weight equipment was essentially non-functional as all thepoarts had loose bolts and pulley/cable links broken. Barnsley has started to become a dump. I'd bet Private Equity now owns some or all of it and has pulled their usual "strip away expenses and maintenance and no one will notice", as decided by a 24 year old finance major. Yeah, people notice. I wont come back.

Yet in one of the tallest mountain peaks in Georgia. You will see mountain views of downtown Atlanta, Rich Mtn and the Cohutta Mtns all within one area. Amenities include a lake which use to be a Orvis certified fishing lake. The trout creek, Clear Creek runs through the community. The campsites are beside the creek and hiking trails. There are numerous waterfalls with a trail hike up to the Twin Falls. If you enjoy nature and the outdoors this is a community you should look into. Just to note, there are more black bears here than just about any where else in Georgia.

Arrived yesterday evening & the property is beautiful. However, ITS NOT RENTAL READY! No hot…read morewater, no TV, phone or Intranet. Cell services are very limited. The bed in the master room is over 10 years old and you can tell it!!! All water sources, sinks bath, shower, toilets smell like rotten eggs! The rental management company just took it over so hopefully things will get updated soon. To add to the problems, the air conditioner in the mater bedroom didn't work. I complained to rental company last night and spoke with the office manager this morning. She was very apologetic and made the appropriate compensation offer after speaking with the owner.
