If I could provide a review of the Talquin staff who work in the field and "actual" customer service workers in the offices, I would rate them at five stars. On the other hand, the upper management team is a waste of money. They do not appear concerned with their customers, especially in the Wakulla County Shadeville substation area, which has had issues for the 28 years I have been a Talquin Electric customer. Unfortunately, the customer has no resources for poor service and lack of communication with a member-owned utility. I've moved around many places, but talquin is one of the worst electric companies to deal with. I can't depend on them to consistently keep the power running without a sudden blackout or surge. Whenever we have bad weather it feels as if the power struggles to stay on, it fluctuates all the time and affects my work greatly. read more

I am writing this in regard of a friend of mine. I was at her house the day of her shut off. She forgot to pay the bill and received the shut off letter the day before. So they tacked on a 60$ disconnected fee( which is expected). So she paid 70$ then was going to pay the rest later. When she paid that amount , the power came back moment later. She thought "okay, I'll give the rest later when I have it.( And she did) But before she could make the remaining payment, they cut the power off 15 minutes before they closed. So they tacked on another disconnected fee(which is bogus). We called and they stated there was an error IN THEIR SYSTEM and her power should have not gotten turned back on. So she's paying an extra 60 because their system had an error? That's not even the worst. She noticed an additional 600 was added to her account as a deposit. She pays her bill every month but the one time she misses or forgets, this is how Talquin treats people? Why is she paying an extra 600 if their system has an error? read more

First the power goes out constantly. Sunny day with no wind? You don't need electricity. Second, I was late on my payment. My fault. But no warning, no notice by phone, email, text, or flippin carrier pigeon about the bill and the electricity is turned off in less than two weeks out from the due date. You're lucky you're the only provider in the county. read more

What makes the power go out every time it sprinkles??? This makes no sense and do you all even care about your paying customers? I've been in my home a year and can count on both hands how many times my lights went out. Not a storm always, but definitely JUST rain and having a generator is a MUST investment. I am writing this review for a friend who can not due to not having power and thus not internet. After we had several tornadoes hit our area Talquin was the last to get their customers back on. To add to to the problems my friends neighborhood power was restored. Talquin removed the meter and would not provide power due to 2 trees leaning on the edge of the roof until the trees were removed and the house inspected by the county. In times of disaster this types of red tape delays are waved. Going on day 5 with no power. Talquin also charges larger connection fees and higher electric rates than all the other electric providers in the N. Fl area. I think it is time for the City of Tallahassee to take over electric service in Leon county so this does not happen in the future. Contact the Public Service Commission to file a complaint. read more

Worst electric company that I've dealt with in my 57 years. We've been without power for 35 hours for a so called hurricane that most blew only 30 miles per hour in my area. If you try to get an update you get a generic text saying you are Part of a known outage and how long it's been without power. If you move into the Tallahassee area make sure that wherever you are looking at does not have Talquin for electric service. read more

Power outage December 25th with temperatures at 21 degrees. Outage from approximately 1:00 AM to 7:30 AM Christmas Day!! Couldn't attend early morning worship. December 26th sitting watching tv a day off. Power goes out and has been out for over an hour. It's around 40 degrees and the only heat we have is Central heating. Now I'm stuck at home and can't leave because I'm unable to get my car out of the garage. For the most part we have excellent service but the last two days has been horrible. I'm not alone when I say this is unacceptable. It's not enough to have to deal with the unusual cold weather but to have the power out is ridiculous. read more

I wanted to compliment Talquin Electric, a gentleman by the name of Mike in particular for his generous assistance last week. i had contacted Talquin after 5 PM to report a serious condition at an elderly neighbor's residence. His power had been disconnected for nonpayment and temperature was rising to 100. With effort and Mike's patience we were able to make the payment by credit card over the phone. Thanks a lot Mike ! As a resident of Lake Tallavana subdivision I would like to say that the current upgrade/repair project that is ongoing in the subdivision deserves a huge shout-out, and a bigger "Thank You"! The work is being done by Pike Electric Company and is being done safely, methodically, and thoroughly. The new framing of the poles will work much better with the recent upgrade of the primary voltage. I am positive that when the work is completed in the subdivision the outages will be fewer. Worst electric company I have ever experienced. We live near lake Jackson and our power goes out monthly for hours on end. This time it has been out for over 4 hours and they do not have a reason why it went out nor do they have an eta on when it will come back on. Calling customer support works good, however, restoring services is a long wait. Two outages in one months, outages more frequent in my area than should be. Plan on getting a whole house generator ASAP. Each outage at least 1 to 2 hrs read more
