Greetings all, as a LOCAL as well and an event planner I felt it important to write a review for a salon that I truly goes above and beyond for its clients (and guests). Talulu strives for excellence each and every day and offers the very best in the business. I also feel it important to note that there are many positive reviews under their listing but unfortunately it's the negative review that pop up fist... Why? Because those who review most (not those who review last) are moved to the top of all reviews. That said, nobody likes a complainer and nobody wants to listen to the individual who leads a life with their glass half empty. As far as you West Coast girls, welcome to the Midwest... If you don't like what we have to offer please go pay for your services on your side of the country and leave the genuine and hardworking business owners of our region alone. I'm sure you'll pay more for less. I know how important quality customer service is to the owners of Talulu as well as their staff. I've selected Talulu for everything from haircuts, nails, to highlights, to my wedding hair and makeup. I had NINE bridesmaids who all were given top-notch services on the day of my wedding. All of hair and makeup was absolutely beautiful. Plus they allowed us to bring in food and helped make that whole morning of "getting ready" so special. I was honored to have that time with my girls and honored it was at Talulu Beauty Lounge. I have never once had a bad experience but if I had, I'm confident that Stacey (the owner) would have done everything in her power to make it right. Not only have I never had a bad experience, the result of any service I have had with Talulu has been professional and everything I had asked for (and more)! You get what you pay for... And again, that means you get a solid, hardworking team who offers the very best in the Midwest. Their goal is for their customers to walk out of the business feeling both happy and beautiful. I started shopping around for hair/make-up talent months before my wedding day. I had 8 bridesmaids, so I knew I had to find a team that was reasonably priced, super passionate about their craft, had an energetic/fun dynamic, and could get us all in and out in under three hours. Mission accomplished. The Talulu Beauty Lounge team blew me away with their professionalism, skill, creativity and overall awesomeness. After agreeing on a style during my trial hair run, I completely changed my mind and decided to go from a partial updo to full. I walked into the salon on the morning of my wedding with complete confidence that I'd love whatever they came up with -- and I did... in fact, it was better than I could have ever imagined. And the make-up -- unbelievable. Mari is ridiculously talented and I wish I could hire her to make me look that good on a daily basis. All 8 of my bridesmaids left the salon looking stunning and were beyond happy with the services they received. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. It made for a wonderful start to my wedding day, and I left Talulu Beauty Lounge feeling like the team was now part of my inner circle. In closing, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention a bridesmaid's review on here complaining about Talulu's costs. I am a little stumped by this, considering I definitely did my homework and Talulu is VERY competitive for our area. I'd suggest that if you're not in a financial position to hire professional services, you consult with the bride and work out an alternative arrangement before publicly making false accusations toward a small local business. Talulu is the best salon with the best stylists in Northern Michigan. I have to give the most glowing review from the service we received preparing for my sister's wedding on Saturday. Also as a local, I was at the salon the same day and I am actually shocked by Ellen O's post below that she only rated them one star. Stacey and the girls bent over backwards to accommodate us and make sure we were happy, having fun, and looking absolutely perfect. They had a table and chairs set up for us together so we could sit and eat breakfast and have mimosas together. The staff was extremely positive and exceeded every expectation and request we had. Every style was hand-picked by the bride and looked exceptional. The other wedding party there was also having hair and makeup done at the same time and was also set up with chairs together and every girl there in both parties looked stunning. The make up was exceptional as well, and Mari even accommodated people from both bridal parties who weren't scheduled. Everything was clean and new brushes and applicators were used for each mascara application. My sister, mom, and I all had eyelashes done and they looked phenomenal. We couldn't be happier with the service and results. I am forever grateful to Stacey and the Talulu girls for making our wedding experience an absolutely amazing day we will never forget. I thought I would take this opportunity to thank the staff at Talulu Beauty Lounge for an outstanding job in providing our bridal party with the best in professional services. On September 20, 2014, the staff at Talulu did such an amazing job by making sure that all nine of our bridesmaids and bride left on time for the wedding looking their best for our bride's special day. By allowing us to cater brunch, and setting up a spot for those who chose to do their own makeup, your staff was so accommodating and went above and beyond our expectations. Everyone's hair and makeup looked stunning and we all left feeling pampered and refreshed. I would recommend to anyone who seeks flawless perfection on getting his or her hair or makeup done, whether it's for a special occasion or for personal treatment to visit this salon. I read the two previous reviews from Ellen and Amanda and I'm shocked because their reviews sound nothing like anything I have observed in the many wonderful experiences I enjoyed at this salon. I visit Talulu regularly and have done so since 2009 and have nothing but positive to share. The owner is an excellent stylist and colorist and could not be more accommodating. Her staff always seemed to be engaged with their clients and front desk staff extremely helpful when I call to make appointments. Every time I leave the salon I receive at least one compliment before I even get to my car and often I am asked for the person who does my hair. I would not hesitate for one minute to recommend Talulu Lounge to anyone who asked. I would be suspect of the two above mentioned reviews, sounds a bit fishy to me read more

I moved to Michigan about five years ago. Needless to say after trying all of the recommended"high end" salons, I left everytime very dissapointed. I should mention that I am a hairstylist myself. After starting a new job in a different career path , I met the owners of Talulu and decided to give them a try. I have been nothing short of amazed everytime I leave there. The salon has everything you could want, from the high end, modern, and beautifully decorated interior, to the cozy, warm and friendly atmoshpere of a small town community. What impresses me the most is the skill and profesionalism that is given from each employee and stylist I have come into contact with. I highly recommend this salon to anyone !!!!! I recently came to Talulu for the first time for a blowout/style for an event I was going to, on a recommendation from a friend of mine. I can't say enough positive things about my experience. The staff was very friendly, and the stylist I had, Sam did an excellent job, even with my fine hair. The salon also had a very nice selection of the products they use, and styling tools. Not to mention their makeup section is fantastic! Not only did I leave there with an amazing blow out, I will be back to receive another service. I have been going to Talulus for my hair and nails since they opened. I have been so pleased with the services that I receive there that I had to write. The condition of my hair is so much better now that I go there. I have gotten complements on how natural my hair color looks. My last shellac French manicure still looked good after 3 1/2 weeks! I couldn't believe it. Anyway, I have been impressed by the professionalism and quality of care at Talulus and highly recommend it. read more

What a great experience at Talulu. I was part of a bridal party. The staff was wonderful. We had so much fun. There were even a few of our family that came to watch just for the experience of being there. Sam did such a great job with my hair and Mari made really made me look beautiful with her make-up artistry. Talulu is a beautiful salon, that I wish I could find the clone to in Florida. Everyone in the salon is friendly and smiling- they enjoy their job. When I left there I always felt like I would pay double for the experience I had... When you walk out and look into every reflective surface to see what a great job they did!? Yeah. I must say that I'm very picky on who cuts my hair. Switching from one salon to Talulu, I was very nervous. The stylist who cuts my hair on a regular basis does a really fantastic job! She knows what I like and if she has any ideas about styling my hair or cutting my hair a certain way, I just say go for it, because I know I can trust her to do it and I'm always pleased with the results. If I had to recommend a salon, I would most definitely recommend Talulu. read more

Taulu was absolutely wonderful! Hands down the best salon in petoskey. They had competitive prices excellent service (they did my hair and make up for my wedding along with my 4 bridesmaids and mother in law) I could not have asked for anything better! Went to talulu salon today for the first time ever & had such a great experience! My stylist was incredibly nice & competent. I was doing a very dramatic cut with a salon I'd never tried before but she made me feel completely at ease with her experience and kindness! Very clean cute interior too! This is the best salon in Northern Michigan. I have moved away from Petoskey, but continue to drive an hour to have my hair done here. I loved being pampered at Talulu Beauty Lounge. I just had my second facial from Kristy at Talulu and it was awesome again. This young lady has a talent for facials and massage. My skin is glowing and my husband described my skin as "dewy". Love the salon, love my hair color and manicures but Kristy is a gem and the facials are amazing. read more
