I went here after a YouTube video I saw ON ACCIDENT. My Youtube was autoplaying videos on the TV,…read moreand I saw this place and thought "Man, I wish we had a place like this in San Jose." Then I realized the video was highlighting the best food spots in San Jose! I live in West SJ and it's a 20 minute drive to Antipasto, but I didn't mind, I had to find out for myself. I hurried up and went there immediately, only to realize they were closed on Mondays. My mistake, I actually went online to check their schedule, and got into the menu a bit too passionately, that I forgot to actually check their hours. So I went back on Wednesday, and decided to double check that they were actually open this time. Upon walking in, I was a little intimidated to be honest. Everybody looked like a regular, while I walked around like a headless chicken trying to figure out which side of the store to go to. Nick noticed that, and went out of his way from behind the counter to guide me and my wife. He let us know where to go for sandwiches, the butcher, raviolis, etc... Me and my wife got the lasagna dinner with 2 meatballs, and TBC beef ravioli W/ salads. It was love at first bite. This place was better than all the Italian places in San Jose, without a doubt. Yes, I'm talking to you Original Joes and Maggiannos. All throughout our meal, we noticed people chatting with Nick and the rest of the staff as if they were family. Who knows they might be! Nick continued to include us by talking to us and making us feel welcomed. We are fans for life! Great food, great service, what else can you ask for? I just can't believe I never knew about this place after living in San Jose for 30 years.

i use to grab lunch here when i worked around the corner years ago. never thought too much about…read moretheir food but everyone just speaks so highly about this place. after so many years i came back to try their steak sandwich, tri-tip sandwich, meatball sandwich, and beef ravioli with meat sauce. my firsts visit, i ordered the tri-tip sandwich and it was decent. meat was dry and drenched in bbq sauce. i think thats the only flavor you taste. the second time, i got the steak sandwich. their steak sandwich was the blandest sandwich i've ever had. didn't even seem like they threw on salt and pepper. i did not enjoy this whatsoever. i honestly just took the steak out of the sandwich and dipped it in A1 sauce. threw away the bread, lettuce, and tomato because it was all so soggy. it took me a while to return, and when i finally did ... i ordered a meatball sandwich and the beef ravioli with meat sauce. the beef ravioli was ok imo. strange how people are saying it's the best ravioli ever. the meatball sandwich too was ok. i did love the cheese pull when i took the first half to eat. i can see why there are plenty of reviews saying that their food is on the bland side because i definitely agree. it's honestly not worth the cost and yes, everyone there is not the nicest. you'll most likely deal with someone rude there than someone nice. after trying different foods each time, i think ive given them enough chances. no need to go back for ok food and rude service. i'll take my hard earned money elsewhere.

As someone who lived in Miami, where multicultural food options are everywhere -- Colombian,…read moreVenezuelan, Puerto Rican, Cuban, you name it -- moving to Northern California was a bit of a culture shock (and let's be honest... a price shock too ). Everything here is expensive -- even the air feels like it has a service fee -- but that's just California life. That's why Chaparral Supermarket is such a gem. What really impressed me is their vast selection of Colombian foods and treats. As a Colombian myself, finding familiar products from home while living away from home truly means a lot. From snacks to staples, they carry items that are hard to find elsewhere in the area, and it instantly made me feel a little more grounded as a newcomer to the state. Yes, prices are higher than what I was used to back in Miami -- but for Northern California, it's expected, and honestly, worth it for the selection and convenience. You can't really complain when you're getting a taste of home in a place where that's not always easy to find. If you're Colombian, Latin American, or just someone who loves exploring authentic international foods beyond the usual options, this place is 100% worth a visit. Chaparral makes being far from home feel a little closer.
